I am using contact lens I have used the expired lens for a day. And I got irritation in my eye. Could you please tell me it will make any problem in my eyes?

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
If irritation persists or increases, it could be a concern, you will need to get yourself checked up by an ophthalmologist to make sure cornea is not infected. If irritation reduces or is relieved completely, you probably had a lucky escape. Meanwhile, you can try using a lubricant eye drop such as zyaqua, 2 or 3 times per day and inform us the response.

If you suffer from dry eyes, up your seafood intake. Salmon, sardines, and mackerel contain omega-3 fatty acids, which the body uses to produce tears, among other things. Research suggests that people who consume higher amounts of these fats are less likely to have dry eyes.

Eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: • Eye dryness • Too much sun exposure • Dust or other particles in the eye • Allergies • Infection • Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. These may be due to: • Blepharitis: Swelling along the edge of the eyelid. • Conjunctivitis: Swelling or infection of the clear tissue that lines the eyelids and covers the surface of the eye (the conjunctiva). This is often referred to as "pink eye." • Corneal ulcers: Sores on the cornea most often caused by a serious bacterial or viral infection. • Uveitis: Inflammation of the uvea, which includes the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. The cause is most often not known. It may be related to an autoimmune disorder, infection, or exposure to toxins. The type of uveitis that causes the worst red eye is called iritis, in which only the iris is inflamed. Homoeopathic medicine EUPHRASIA 30 ( Dr Reckeweg) Drink 2 drops direct on tongue every 2-3 hrly CINERARIA /EUPHRASIA EYEDROPS ( SBL ) pour into eyes 1-2 drops 3 times daily Wear Goggles in Sunlight/Polluted areas. If no relief within 15 days, please cosult an Eye specialist for physical examination.

When I stand up after 2-3 hour sitting I fell pain in my heel and my eyes ate dry also.

When I stand up after 2-3 hour sitting I fell pain in my heel and my eyes ate dry also.
Hello lybrate-user. Regarding dry eyes, I have a few suggestions for you: (1) the first thing to remember is that long term continuous usage of mobile phones or computers is harmful for the eyes. Ranging from dry eyes to multiple postural defects, there are many consequences. The good news is that there are simple tips and solutions to avoid these problems from occurring. Let me enumerate them in brief: avoid continued staring at computer screens, television. Mobiles, books, etc. Continuous staring tends to aggravate dry eye condition. (2) follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. (3) another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Remember the rule of 90. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. (4) also remember the rule of 1. At least 1 time in a day, wash your eyes with clean hands and clean water in a gentle manner. Exercise for at least 1 hour in a day. Try to spend 1 hour with nature. (eg. In a park, garden, etc.) (5) you could consider preservative free lubricant eye drops 4 to 5 times daily. (eg. Tears naturale ii eye drops) these eye drops would ensure that your eyes stay well lubricated and fresh. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. You could also use a preservative free lubricant eye drop 4 to 5 times in a day. Also, adequate sleep of 7 hours a day is essential in order to maintain healthy eyes.

Pregnancy depends on many things. 1. Doing sex on right days. 10-16 days from period date are best for conceiving. So do sex for atleast these days. 2. Thyroid problem in women will cause delay in pregnancy. Get check up done for your wife 3. Try these 2 first and still if you do not get benefit then go for sperm test for urself and consult gyanologist for your wife. For further help consult.

I am male old 19 years my eye is very red and no itself but very red please my help?

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
I am male old 19 years my eye is very red and no itself but very red please my help?
Hello lybrate-user. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. Let me enumerate them in brief:(1) allergy (2) infections better known as conjunctivitis. They occur along with discharge and watering. (3) foreign body stuck in the eye. Occurs in people who have a lot of driving and traveling. (4) inflammation of the coat of the eye. Better known as uveitis. (5) raised intraocular pressure. This occurs along with pain. Usually there is associated family history of raised pressure in parents or grandparents. (6) raised blood pressure. Better known as sub conjunctival hemorrhage. Thus, from all the fore mentioned reasons, by far the most common cause is allergy. It occurs due to improper eye hygiene and repeated rubbing of eyes with fingers, clothes, handkerchief, etc. A good idea would be to identify the category that you fall under and treat it accordingly. Most probably, it would be due to allergy in your case. Still, better safe than sorry. Get your eyes examined in person by an eye specialist. Let me know when further assistance required. Take care. Regards.

Is there any treatment for night blindness which has come by heridetily or genetic if yes kindly guide me.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Is there any treatment for night blindness which has come by heridetily or genetic if yes kindly guide me.
Night blindness is due to a disorder of the cells in the retina that are responsible for vision in dim light. It has many causes, including: • Short-sightedness • Glaucoma medications that work by constricting the pupil • Cataracts • Retinitis pigmentosa • Vitamin A deficiency How is night blindness treated? Treatment for night blindness will depend upon its cause. Treatment may be as simple as a new prescription for your glasses or switching glaucoma medications, or it may require surgery in cases of cataracts Dietary Management For Night Blindness Vitamins A, C and E are potent antioxidants which slow down age related macular degeneration and help maintain healthy tissues and cells in the eyes. Vitamins C and E may also inhibit the development or progression of cataracts. Lutein and zeaxanthin are two antioxidants called carotenoids, which help in neutralizing free radicals and maintaining eye health. Sources of Vitamin A: Yellow-orange fruits and vegetables such as carrots, mango, papaya, pumpkin, dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, eggs, milk and milk products. Vitamin A can be stored in your body, so you can opt for your favorite seasonal foods! Sources of Vitamin C: Citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines and grapefruit, peppers, tomatoes, kiwis, gooseberries, strawberries and Brussels sprouts. Sources of Vitamin E: Nuts like almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, fortified oils, seeds, eggs, milk and dairy. Sources of Lutein: Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, broccoli and chard, yellow peppers, mango and bilberries. Sources of Zeaxanthin: Oranges, tangerines, eggs, spinach, dark green lettuce, corn, broccoli and orange sweet peppers. For maximizing the benefits of the above vegetables, it is best to have then lightly cooked rather than raw. Cooking or steaming breaks down the cells, making it simpler for the body to absorb these nutrients from the foods. Aim to eat at least 2 to 4 servings or more of these foods every day to ensure that you are getting enough of these 5 powerful nutrients.

I am suffering from strain in my eyes and also pain head and lower neck back due to hard working mobile repair.

General Physician, Hyderabad
I am suffering from strain in my eyes and also pain head and lower neck back due to hard working mobile repair.
Due to continuous work of what you described, your eyes get strained and you suffer from headache. Due to bending you r getting neck pain and it also causes headache. So if you can't change your work try to handle it well. First get eye sight check up as this also causes same problems of eyes strain. To prevent over bending use a high table or lower chair to sit so that your working should be as high as possible to prevent strain on your neck. Take breaks in between. Do eye exercises and neck strengthening exercises. Do meditation.

I have pain in backbone and like some times my eye was produces heat automatically.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
I have pain in backbone and like some times my eye was produces heat automatically.
Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). (Excessive sitting or standing is to be avoided as well don’t carry much weight on shoulders). Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body. Management: -Stretching or activities that place additional strain on the back are discouraged. -Sleeping with a pillow between the knees while lying on one side may increase comfort. -Lying on your back with a pillow under your knees would also relieves pain and no pillow under your head. -Some people seem to benefit from the use of ice or heat. Take care, do not use a heating pad on ‘high’ or place ice directly on the skin. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.

Hello my eyes no 2.5 and 2.25 tell me can I use any eye drop that can be improve my a eyes.
Hello , you can use CMD2 eye drops, 2 drop in each eye twice daily. You should these exercises daily to strengthen your eye muscles ;- Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing rather reducing the power of your eyes. Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.
