Is Your Wisdom Tooth Giving You Night Mare!

Is Your Wisdom Tooth Giving You Night Mare!

By the age of eighteen, the average adult has 32 teeth; 16 teeth on the top and 16 teeth on the bottom. Each tooth in the mouth has a specific name and function. The teeth in the front of the mouth (incisors, canine and bicuspid teeth) are ideal for grasping and biting food into smaller pieces. The back teeth or molar teeth are used to grind food up into a consistency suitable for swallowing.

The average mouth is made to hold only 28 teeth. It can be painful when 32 teeth try to fit in a mouth that holds only 28 teeth. These four other teeth are your third molars, also known as" wisdom teeth.

Why should I remove my wisdom teeth?

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt within the mouth. When they align properly and gum tissue is healthy, wisdom teeth do not have to be removed. Unfortunately, this does not generally happen. The extraction of wisdom teeth is necessary when they are prevented from properly erupting within the mouth. They may grow sideways, partially emerge from the gum and even remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. Impacted teeth can take many positions in the bone as they attempt to find a pathway that will allow them to erupt successfully.

These poorly positioned impacted teeth can cause many problems. When they are partially erupted, the opening around the tooth allows bacteria to grow and will eventually cause an infection. The result: swelling, stiffness, pain and illness. The pressure from the erupting wisdom tooth may move other teeth and disrupt the orthodontic or natural alignment of teeth. The most serious problem occurs when tumours or cysts form around the impacted wisdom tooth, resulting in the destruction of the jawbone and healthy teeth. Removal of the offending impacted tooth or teeth usually resolves these problems. Early removal is recommended to avoid such future problems and to decrease the surgical risk involved with the procedure.

Oral examination

With an oral examination and x-rays of the mouth, our doctors can evaluate the position of the wisdom teeth and predict if there may be present or future problems. Studies have shown that early evaluation and treatment result in a superior outcome for the patient. Patients are generally first evaluated in the mid- teenage years by their dentist, orthodontist or by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

All outpatient surgery is performed under appropriate anaesthesia to maximize patient comfort.

Removal

In most cases, the removal of wisdom teeth is performed under local anaesthesia, or general anaesthesia. These options as well as the surgical risks (i. E. Sensory nerve damages, sinus complications) will be discussed with you before the procedure is performed. Once the teeth are removed, the gum is sutured and gauze is placed in your mouth to bite on to control bleeding. You will rest under our supervision in the office until you are ready to be taken home. Upon discharge, your post-operative kit will include postoperative instructions, a prescription for pain medication, antibiotics and a follow-up appointment in one week for suture removal. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us.

Our services are provided in an environment of optimum safety that utilises modern monitoring equipment and staff that are experienced in anaesthesia techniquesAny wisdom tooth related problem get connected to us to get your smile back.

Dear doctors I am getting bad breath in the evening itself I used to take more water regularly but still it's coming....
The mouth is home to hundreds of bacterial species with various nutritional preferences. These organisms usually enjoy proteins, and as they digest proteins several fetid substances arise. The role of volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) in producing bacteria that colonize over the tongue was recently understood as a main cause of halitosis (bad breath). The most common VSCs, such as methylmercaptan and hydrogen sulfite, can be detected by using organoleptic and objective methods. Treatment includes maintaining good oral hygiene, brush two times a day and gargle with salted water after meals, homoeopathic medicines will give you permanent solution.

Hello, I am a 30 year old male, and there is gap between my teeth. So, I would like to know that what are the options available to fix it, its price, and how much time it could take. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I am a 30 year old male, and there is gap between my teeth. So, I would like to know that what are the options...
As per your query I am sure you are looking for a help which gets you a good smile. And for making a smile perfect we gotta do a small dental check up and see like how much gap is there. How that gap is while you bite or chew. Whether the canine exposure is good or not during smile. If the corner of the mouth is in alignment with the same during a smile. To analyse your smile we need to make a small portfolio of your smile with pics n videos which should be shooted in the clinic by us only then taking impressions of your jaws to have a diagnostic cast in which we again do a small study. After doing all this we come to a conclusion that how many number of veneers are required or whether orthodontic braces will also be required or not. Considering all these aspects only we can give you a perfect smile. Because you yourself should be surprised after the treatment like its so natural looking, for others it will be definitely hard to know if you have had any dental treatment for the same. So for all that you need to visit us at our facility and after all analysis we will be able to tell you the exact cost. If you want it perfect.

Brushing right is important for healthy gums, but do not brush too hard, simply apply some pressure on your teeth. Opt for a toothbrush that has soft bristles. These soft bristles won't cut or damage your gums. Also, twist your brush at a 45 degree angle so that the bristles won't damage your gums.

Hi Rafeeq, The toothache you are suffering from may be due to a variety of causes, the most common being: 1.Tooth decay 2. Tooth fracture 3. A damaged filling 4. Infected gums The most common cause is a long-standing cavity or tooth decay, which usually requires a root canal treatment (RCT). The same treatment applies to a tooth fracture as well. In case of a damaged filling, there may be two possibilities: either the filling can be removed and replaced with a new one after applying a soothing base material; or if the damaged filling is placed deep near the nerves of the tooth, it may require an RCT. Infected gums usually are treated with deep cleaning/scaling after which there is permanent relief from pain. I suggest that that you consult me privately on Lybrate, so that I can provide more specific answers. You will be able to send across images of your aching tooth/teeth, and looking at them will help me be in a better position to solve your problem.

To reduce bad breath, help avoid cavities and lower your risk of gum disease, consistently practice good oral hygiene. Further treatment for bad breath can vary, depending on the cause. If your bad breath is thought to be caused by an underlying health condition, your dentist will likely refer you to your primary care provider. For causes related to oral health, your dentist will work with you to help you better control that condition. Dental measures may include: Mouth rinses and toothpastes. If your bad breath is due to a buildup of bacteria (plaque) on your teeth, your dentist may recommend a mouth rinse that kills the bacteria. Your dentist may also recommend a toothpaste that contains an antibacterial agent to kill the bacteria that cause plaque buildup. Treatment of dental disease. If you have gum disease, you may be referred to a gum specialist (periodontist). Gum disease can cause gums to pull away from your teeth, leaving deep pockets that fill with odor-causing bacteria. Sometimes only professional cleaning removes these bacteria. Your dentist might also recommend replacing faulty tooth restorations, a breeding ground for bacteria. Diagnosis.

Bad breath can be reduced or prevented if you: - practice good oral hygiene. - brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. - don't forget to brush the tongue, too. - replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. - use floss or an interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day. - see your dentist regularly -- at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor. - drink lots of water. This will keep your mouth moist. - chewing gum (preferably sugarless) stimulates the production of saliva, which helps wash away food particles and bacteria.

Dear , You might either be having a cavity there or the height of bone between the two teeth there would have shrunk. Either of these problems create a gap where the food can get stuck, causing pain after sometime. Kindly get yourself checked and the further treatment can then be advised.
