Doctor A small part of my teeth got broke and there is a small hole now and now I can't chewing properly so sugest me any solution doctor.

•If your cavity in the tooth is caused by decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection.

My teeth hurt for a long time. I can not eat hot food. When I eat the hot food then teeth sirasira. What should I do now?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
If discomfort lasts only moments, sensitivity generally does not signal a serious problem. It may be caused by; a small area of decay in a tooth, a loose filling or an exposed root surface resulting from gum recession and possibly toothbrush abrasion. This sensitivity should last no longer then a few days; however, if decay has recently been removed or a filling or crown recently has been placed, a tooth may take a week or two to settle. Mild pain relievers like acetaminophen, aspirin or ibuprofen should help. If the pain persists or worsens, see your dentist for root canal treatment.

Sir I have teeth problem. My teeth have black inside face. I clean it some days before but again have same problem start.

BDS
Dentist, Navi Mumbai
Hello Mr. Lybrate-user, blackening of teeth is because of deposition of plaque. You need to brush properly on all surfaces of teeth twice a day and start using a mouthwash once a day for a month. It will be good if you get scaling done once.

How to maintain healthy gums. My gums are bleeding for last few days and sometimes I get itching in it. What should I do.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

Dear sir. My self sunil kumar. Sir my problem in my teeth. My teeth is very pain when I am finish eats please tell me best solution. Thanks.

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
This could b either due to sensitivity due to loss of enamel surface or due to decay of tooth. Tooth decay can b treated by filling of tooth or by rct n capping of the decay is deep. Sensitivity can b reduced by using desensitizing toothpaste such as senquelf or sensodyne toothpaste by rubbing some amount of toothpaste onto your tooth surface n wait till 5 mins before rinsing it off. Get your teeth evaluated by dentist to know the cause of your problem n get treated accordingly. Regsrds.

Some strong layer has been gathered on my teeth. What I have to do for removing it?

BDS
Dentist, Navi Mumbai
Hello. That strong layer is known as calculus. Plaque or food debris that have been accumulated for a long time become that strong layer. You can get that removed by scaling.

Sir, my rootcanal complete before 6 month but in this is small hole, now in want cap on teeth pls guide me this is correct or not & how may rs spend in this process?

BDS
Dentist, Dibrugarh
You would have gone through capping of the tooth at that time only. You can go for capping now also . Before that you should go for restoration of that cavity (hole) which is done after RCT. Make sure the RCT is in good condition. By xray you can get it checked. And cap rates vary according to material of cap.

Hi lybrate-user well you need to visit your dentist to exactly diagnose and treat your problem. Painkillers wud not help as the cause of the problem has to be known and treated. Don't ignore and suffer more. Visit your dentist at the earliest god bless and good luck

Gum Disease

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Gum Disease
Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. Because gum disease is usually painless, you may not know you have it. Also referred to as periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of bacteria that is constantly forming on our teeth.

If you notice any of the following, visit your dentist immediately

Gums that bleed easily
Red, swollen, tender gums
Gums that have pulled away from the teeth
Persistent bad breath or bad taste
Permanent teeth that are loose or separating
Any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite
Any change in the fit of partial dentures

It is possible to have gum disease and have no warning signs. That is one reason why regular dental checkups and periodontal examinations are very important

Remember: You don’t have to lose teeth to gum disease. Brush your teeth twice a day, clean between your teeth daily, eat a balanced diet, and schedule regular dental visits for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

I have a deeper cavity in between 2 teeth its not paining unless very hard substance is for chewing. Then also its not paining but little uncomfortable. Which filling is best and long lasting. I heard that filling further tends to root canal. Is it true?

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
if decay is deep it may go for root canal.... silver or tooth coloured filling both are good, if cavity is deep my personal preference is silver filling as it lasts long...
