I have body pain and also headache with little bit cold and my eyes is also like burning what should I do for this?
There are several things you can do to prevent a cold. they are all easy. -Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. -Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. -Get plenty of rest/sleep.staying at home will keep you from spreading germs.Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. -Drink plenty of fluids(veg/tomato soups, dal water/coconut water/herbal tea etc), and eat nutritious food(like sprouts/boiled eggs without yolk with milk). Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can impair your sleep -Treatment:A cold usually lasts for a week or two. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn't need medical treatment. -Complications like infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. -Gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation. -Tablet nasorest-p once/twice daily may ease breathing. -Do steam inhalation once or twice daily

Cataract - How To Manage It!

Cataract - How To Manage It!

Eyes are a beautiful gift of God, enabling us to appreciate the beauty around us. Thus utmost care should be taken of this delicate organ. However, aging comes on with different sets of diseases, and an eye problem is one of them. It becomes very important to visit an ophthalmologist in that case.

A visual field test and ophthalmoscopy are necessary tests that are used to determine the eye problems of the patients. Cataract is one of the commonly occurring eye problems across the planet. Getting to know about the condition and the ways to manage cataract is imperative to avoid complications in vision.

Cataract can be defined as the clouding of the natural lenses in the eyes. This is caused by the clumping of protein in the eye lens. Cataract is a common eye disorder and the leading cause of loss of vision in people who are past their fortieth birthday. Cataract can occur in one or both eyes. When diagnosed properly, cataract can be treated with surgery to prevent blindness.

What is a Cataract?
It is a disease where clouding of the lens occurs which leads to decreased vision in patients. It can affect one or both eyes. Cataracts are the cause of blindness and visual impairment nearing 33 percent worldwide.

Common symptoms that show up include blurry vision, halos around light, faded colors, and trouble seeing at night which causes driving problems, trouble in reading or recognizing faces and many more. This disease is most commonly caused due to aging. In rare cases, it may be present from birth, and other risk factors include tobacco smoking, diabetes, prolonged exposure to sunlight, trauma or radiation exposure and alcohol.

A recently conducted eye surgery also increases the chances of good results.About 20 million people are blind due to this disease, and in the US alone, it is the cause for 5 percent of blindness, while in Africa & South America it is the cause for nearly 60% of blindness.

Depending on where and how they develop, there are many types of cataract. The most common amongst these are:

  1. Subcapsular cataract: These occur at the back of the eye lens. Diabetic patients are very susceptible to this kind of cataract.
  2. Nuclear cataract: Yellowish-brown cataract that form in the center of the lens are called nuclear cataract. This is usually seen in cataract caused by ageing.
  3. Cortical cataract: Cataract in the lens cortex are known as cortical cataract. These are wedge shaped and whitish in color. Spokes protruding out of these opaque wedges can be seen moving towards the center of the eye.
  4. Congenital cataract: Though they are not common, babies can also have cataract. Cataract formed at birth or within the first year of a baby's birth are known as congenital cataract.
  5. Secondary cataract: Cataract is one of the known side effects of diabetes and glaucoma. Some steroids and medicines are also linked to cataract.
  6. Traumatic cataract: If your vision becomes cloudy years after an eye injury, it could be a traumatic cataract. It can take several years for this to happen.
  7. Radiation cataract: Exposure to radiation can also lead to cataract. This is seen sometimes in patients who have undergone radiation therapy to fight diseases like cancer.

Though the type of cataract might differ from person to person, the symptoms are usually the same. Some of the common symptoms of cataract are:

  1. Blurred vision
  2. Reduced night vision
  3. Increased sensitivity to light and glare
  4. Seeing halos around lights
  5. Colors appearing faded
  6. Double vision

Treatment and Management of Cataract
Well, no medical treatment is effective once the opacity of lens has developed. Therefore, surgical treatment remains the only option left to go with. Performed usually using local anesthesia, about 9 out of 10 patients achieves a corrected vision of 20/40 after surgery.

Management of patients with cataract is a gradual process where the first assessment done by ophthalmologists is regarding the prevalence and the morphology of the eyeball. Three major types of cataract are known, and patients are categorized into them first. The category includes cortical, nuclear or PSC (Posterior subcapsular). Some may have mixed cataract.

Complications may occur post operation, and thus management is required.

Post Surgery
A patient post operation is sent to a co-managing doctor, and the eye surgeon decides what should be the proper time to take this step. Most of the ophthalmologists prefer to observe the patient’s condition at least once in a day by a post-operative visit to ensure zero complications.

Optometrists provide post-operative care in more than 2/3rd of the cases. Co-management should be done in patient’s best interest be it at day one or later in the post-operative course.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hello, get your eyes tested from an opthalmologist. Include the following for getting better vision: vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for strengthening eye muscles: -begin by partially closing your eyes; the lids should only be halfway shut. After holding for 10-15 seconds, close your eyes very slowly. Take a few deep breaths to increase oxygen in the blood. -warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. -hold a pen at arm's length. Focus your gaze on the tip of the pen. Bring the pen closer to your nose at a slow and steady pace. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times. -concentrate your vision on the tip of your nose. Then shift your gaze to an object further away, either at arm's length or 20 feet away. Then shift your eyes back to the tip of your nose. Repeat this exercise 10 times. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Begin by look to the left-most position (without moving your head) and hold to stretch your eye muscles. Hold for 5 counts. Blink and return your gaze back to look straight in front of you. Then look to the right-most position with your gaze and hold for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times, blinking between each hold. Then, repeat this exercise looking up and then down. Do not forget about blinking. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Look up and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look up to and to your left for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your left for 5 seconds. -one helpful way to do this is to imagine that you are looking at the number 12 on a clock. Then, follow the numbers around the clock with your eyes. Repeat going the other way around the clock. -massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the midpoint of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. -take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids.

Hello. I think you have allergic conjunctivitis. 1. Eye allergies, called allergic conjunctivitis, are a common condition that occurs when the eyes react to something that irritates them (called an allergen). 2. The eyes produce a substance called histamine to fight off the allergen. As a result, the eyelids and conjunctiva (the thin, filmy membrane that covers the inside of your eyelids) become red, swollen and itchy, with tearing and burning. The key to treating eye allergies is a. Avoid or limit contact with the substance causing the problem. B. Avoid rubbing eyes instead do cold compresses. Use antiallergic eyedrop along with lubricating eyedrop. This will help you I am very sorry dear to say that there is no medicine that can cure allergy. Only way is to stay away from all those things that you are allergic to.
