•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.

Hi I am 23 old male. I have habit of chewing tobacco. Daily I will use one sachet. Now a days I am not feeling hungry. My mind is in inconsistent mood. I have heavy gastritce. Mainly stomach. And mouth ulcers. Please suggest me

First of all stop using tobacco, instead start using nicorette chewing gums which is a replacement therapy for tobacco, for gastritis you can take pantoprazole and also start taking yogurt in good quantity and avoid hot and spicy foods, plus get your ulcers checked by a gastro-enterologist for a detail treatment plan

How to whiten my teeth they are yellow and dirty but I regularly brush with toothpaste.

Brushing your teeth too hard and/or too often actually causes enamel to wear off and leads to more yellowing appearance of the teeth. Use a soft brush and brush with the correct technique--not with too much force. If you have already lost enamel you can bleach your teeth, the way some ladies bleach their skin to look fairer. There are many teeth bleaching gels in the market, but I would recommend doing this under a dentists' supervision.

In case of cavity you need to see a dentist and get the caries removed and filling done. For the time being do warm saline rinses and hv any pain killer, this will help you reduce your pain. Colgate paste with colgate soft bristles toothbrush is all time best.

I am 33 yrs men. My wisdom tooths are grown in wrong direction and my main cause of concern is there is no pain but smells badly. I don't know which tooth out of 4 is smelling. So that I can remove that tooth or advise otherwise.

BDS

Your tooth has grown in abnormal position, due to that it might be a gap in between wisdom tooth and adjacent tooth, in which food is getting lodged. You can get it removed and keep that area clean by brushing and by use of mouthwash.

Do metallic dental bridges / implants effect the functioning of the pacemaker. Does the person having the pacemaker fitted, have any restrictions on the dental bridges / implants must be metal free? Pl. adv. Thanks & best regards,

BDS - Orthodontist, Root Canal, Cosmetic & Aesthetic Dentist, MScD, PGDMLS
Dentist, Bhopal
There is no direct relationship between having a metal bridge in mouth and functionality of a cardiac pacemaker. All you need is an extensive clean mouth and be free of periodontal or gum problems that may occur due to food deposits around these artificial prosthesis, alternatively you may choose to have all ceramic bridge in mouth that are easily made now a days but are comaritively expensive but again keep in mind the hygiene factor. please undergo a antibiotic prophylacsis before you go for invasive dental procedure anytime in future.

I suffer from wisdom tooth problem, wherein the tooth completely inside the gum and the flaps of the gums are slowly opening. I have already undergone a wisdom tooth extraction surgery in the past almost a year back and have well aware about the after effects of the surgery which is really painful. I do not wish to go through the same trauma. Hence want to know any other option or medication apart from surgery.

Dear lybrate-user, if your wisdom tooth is not erupting properly as surrounding ones and it is indeed painful and cause damage to the just next tooth behind it you must go for surgical extraction. Otherwise your safe. Just do warm saline mouth bathe 2-4times daily and rinse your mouth with some antiplaque mouthwash for better result.

Hello, yellow teeth or stains and bad smell from mouth could be because of deposits on your teeth and food lodged in between your teeth. You need to visit the dentist and get a deep scaling and polishing done. Brush twice a day. Maintain proper brushing technique. Rinse after every meal. Floss regularly. For whiter teeth you can go for bleaching or whitening.

tooth colour changes with age. not only smoking and drinking, but our food habits are also responsible for this. also our oral hygiene practices cause huge difference. but if these stains are in patches, it may be due to fluorosis also. visit a dentist for its proper diagnosis and treatment will be given accordingly, either scaling and polishing or bleaching or veneering.

Using any toothpaste in a proper manner will not allow any deposits. For polishing you can use whitospark toothpaste by mankind.
