Hi, the two problems are different from each other. Don't worry as she is just 8 yrs. Old, she still has 10 yrs. More to gain further height! I wouldn't advise to give any medicine for gaining height. Let her get indulge into few of those activities and diet which would help her in gaining height. Later after 4-5 yrs, you can consult me again, if the problem still persists. Management: ask her to: consume a balanced diet. A person will look a lot shorter when having a plump body. Not only that, being fit by eating right will make you taller and feel better! eat plenty of lean protein. Lean protein, such as white poultry meat, fish, soy, and dairy, helps promote muscle growth and healthy bones. Simple carbohydrates such as pizza, cakes, sweets, and soda, are the stuff to stay away from. Eat plenty of calcium. Calcium, found in leafy green vegetables such as spinach and kale, and in dairy (yogurt and milk), helps promote healthy bones. Get enough zinc. Studies, although they have been inconclusive so far, point to a possible link between zinc deficiencies and stunted growth in boys. Good sources of zinc include oysters, wheat germ, pumpkin and squash seeds, lamb, peanuts, and crab. Get enough vitamin d. Vitamin d promotes bone and muscle growth in children, and a deficiency has been shown to stunt growth and cause weight gain in teenage girls. Vitamin d can be found in fish, alfalfa, or mushrooms commonly. 60% to 80% of your height is determined by genes! apart from these: -exercise throughout the teen years and in puberty. Get out and about and work your muscles for at least 30 minutes each day. Join a sports team or do some cardio exercises (like running, jumping, skipping, brisk walking). Do get indulge in stretch exercises, and sports like basketball, volleyball. -sleeping is the time when your body grows, get between 9 and 11 hours of sleep per night if you're a preteen or still younger than 20. -avoid any bad habit like smoking which affects the height, also avoid anabolic steroids which inhibit bone growth in young children and teens. -always stand straight instead of hunching your back.

Mother might be having problem of retracted nipples which the baby can't hold in his mouth. So help of a senior lady can help this by doing massage of the nipples. Always try to give breast feed directly through sucking otherwise milk secretions will be reduced gradually. --you can use a blunt forcef to hold the nipple and put in mouth of baby. --baby's are very smart. After feeding with bottle (which require no effort) they will avoid breast sucking as it requires effort. --always avoid feeding with bottle.

It may give you improvement for time being. You should rule out hormonal imbalances like poly cystic ovarian disorder etc which is a very common cause of acne. Avoid oily and junk food. Avoid cosmetics over face and hair oil to naturally reduce the chances of acne. Blue light laser or he-ne laser with nd; yag laser may give you long lasting results.

How do I control my obesity and diabetic and blood pressure and precautions for the same.

AUTLS, CCEDM, MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
How do I control my obesity and diabetic and blood pressure and precautions for the same.
Following are the tips to prevent onset/or control diabetes 1-Losing Extra Weight:-The most significant thing which can make a big difference to your health is to lose your extra weight. This will not only lower your blood pressure but also helps lowering your cholesterol too. For woman: waist of 80 cm or more & for man: waist of 90 cm or more are at risk 2- Constant and regular food timings :-the timings at which you have your meals should be set fixed and at regular intervals each day. This will considerably improve your metabolic activity and helps reducing your weight. 3- Split your meals and eating in moderate amount:-Splitting your meals into 3-4 times per day (including snacks)and eating in fair and consistent amount , improves your metabolic rate as the food u take is not concentrated at one time. 4- No long Gaps and skipping of meals:-There should be no long gaps between meals. Never miss out breakfast. 5- No overeating:-Never eat in a bulk on one time .Try to have moderate amount of food each time u eat. It will help maintain your blood sugar at a healthy level and won’t let it to fluctuate. Remember to eat your food slowly, chew well. 6- Proper Exercise and work outs:-Exercise is very important and a fast way to trim down calories, extra weight and controlling glucose level. Brisk walking for 30 min. atleast five times a week is the best and easiest way of exercising. You can also try Cycling, swimming, dancing. Timings for exercise should be fixed and regular. Avoid heavy exercise. Do not eat right away after a workout . 7-constant and regular timings for medication 8-Avoid fried foods and meat: Limit fats and sweets. Rather choose a variety of foods including whole grains, fresh vegetables, salads, fruits, low fat dairy products. 9- Take high-fibre and complex carbohydrates:-like oats as they are easily broken down to basic sugars. Add whole grain foods in your diet. Avoid carbohydrates like white bread, pasta, pizza , candies, and snacks .Instead include high-fiber carbohydrates like wheat bran, flaxseed and methi seeds to your wheat flour. This will increase fibre in your diet. 10-Drink enough fluids:-Keep your body well hydrated. Drink a lot of water that will help flush the toxins off your system. 11.Fresh vegetables and fruits:- gives essential benefits as these contain a lot of vital minerals as well as nutrients .Include sprouts in the diet as they are easily digestible and a rich source of nutrients. 12- Avoid excess salt:-in form of pickles/papads etc. 1 tsp(5 gm)is sufficient for a healthy hypertensive individual. 13-Avoid alcohol consumption:-Alcohols such as beer and wine contains large amount of calories. choose sugar-free drink. 14- dairy products :-Dairy products are high on fat content such as cheese, curd, milk etc. So instead consume skimmed milk products , low fat cheese, yogurt (curd) etc. Do not have more than two cups of tea or coffee every day. Try green tea instead.

Hello doctors, I have big doubt what are side effects cause if we consume alcohol while taking Siddha medicine. I'm really confused with this many people are saying it gives side effects others say it's not. So please provide right solution.

Hye. Thankyoufor the query. Alcohol has no health benefits and anyway it should be avoided if you are on medication. Of course it also depends on which medication you are taking, the severity of the side effects also differs. Firstly, because alcohol is a depressant, it affects the way your brain works, numbing your senses so they don’t operate properly. Some types of medication also affect the way your brain works, and if you’re drinking alcohol there will be a conflict. Alcohol will increase the sedative effects of both, causing sleepiness and dizziness. It could also change the way the brain responds to the medication, making it less effective. If you’re taking a sedative drug, or any other drug that can make you drowsy, and you drink alcohol, your reaction times could decrease and you’ll get tired faster. If you’re driving or operating machinery, this can be extremely dangerous. Secondly, alcohol can affect the way drugs are absorbed by the body and broken down in the liver. If you drink alcohol regularly and especially if you drink excessive amounts, your liver produces more enzymes so that it can get rid of the alcohol more quickly. Those same enzymes might break down the medication you are taking so it no longer has the same effect. For your immune system, it’s probably not a good idea to drink alcohol when you are feeling ill because it is likely to make you feel worse. Our state of mind can affect the way we respond to illnesses and alcohol is, after all, a depressant.
