Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). Lie down on bed on your back without pillow. Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.

Hi. My bone got fracture and got operation 3 days before what to do & what foods should be taken for better recovery thanks.

PGD IN ULTRAASONOGRAPHY, Non invasive cardiology course, MD - Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Narnaul
Immediately After Surgery Diet After Bone-Fracture Surgery Initially, eat bland foods like crackers and broth. Before your surgery -- if it wasn't an emergency -- you probably weren't permitted to have any food or drink. For a few days after surgery, you may have no appetite. Before your discharge from the hospital, you will be required to consume liquids and possibly a light snack -- such as crackers. Initially, stick with bland foods, such as crackers and broth. Balanced Diet Diet After Bone-Fracture Surgery A balanced diet can help you maintain a healthy body weight weight and your wellness as you recover from bone surgery. The National Academy of Sports Medicine recommends 2,000 calories daily if you're not dieting. If you're attempting to shed excess pounds, get at least 1,200 calories if you're a woman and 1,500 to 1,800 calories if you're a man; eating too few calories can slow your metabolism and the healing process. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and aim to eat a balanced snack or meal every three to four hours for maintained energy. A balanced diet should include a variety of healthy foods, such as lean meats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products and whole grains. Vitamin D and Calcium Diet After Bone-Fracture Surgery Egg yolks are a good source of vitamin D. Vitamin D can facilitate bone healing, according to Civesta Medical Center. It helps your body absorb calcium, which is necessary for bone growth, healing and development. Without adequate amounts of vitamin D and calcium, your body will take calcium from your bones. This can delay healing. Vitamin D can be found in fish, egg yolks, margarine and fortified milk. Top calcium sources include canned salmon, fortified milk and yogurt, almonds and cooked, dark-green vegetables. Considerations Diet After Bone-Fracture Surgery Be sure to eat enough protein. Get an adequate amount of protein to speed healing of your incision. The amount you need is based on your weight. The National Academy of Sports Medicine suggests multiplying your weight by .36 to determine how much protein you should get daily. For example, if you weigh 130 pounds, you should get 46.8 grams of protein. Talk to your doctor before beginning any vitamin or calcium supplements after bone-fracture surgery. Exercise is also an important part of staying healthy. Although bone-fracture surgery can drastically limit participation in physical activities, talk to your doctor about permissible activities. Depending on the nature of your injury, you may be allowed to engage in low-impact activities or do physical therapy exercises as you heal.

I am 21 year old, I have backache from continuously couple of week after using pain cream I haven't relief.

I am 21 year old, I have backache from continuously couple of week after using pain cream I haven't relief.
Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -stop normal physical activity for the first few days. This will help relieve your symptoms and reduce any swelling in the area of the pain. -apply heat or ice to the painful area. One good method is to use ice for the first 48 to 72 hours, and then use heat. Take pain relievers medicine. --while sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back for the first 6 weeks after the pain begins. -avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -stretching and strengthening exercises are important. But, starting these exercises too soon after an injury can make your pain worse. -some physiotherapy treatment like ift current can give you some relief. -a full history of your problem should be taken and your movements assessed by a physiotherapist. Please consult a physiotherapist for your condition.

I am 55 yr old. For last few years iam feeling pain on my right lower back. What caution I should follow? What medicine I should take?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You must have started having some degenerative issues in your lower back region which is causing pain. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain.

Wound in leg in a diabetic patient needs to be taken very seriously. Keep close watch on blood sugar levels. Keep a regular follow up with your diabetes doctor. This needs personal look at wound and necessary treatment. Cannot be treated here.
