It is a real thing to worry about------actually your problem is myopia and you should immediately visit an eye surgeon for a local examination so that you can ear appropriate eye glasses otherwise it will cause a lot of straining on your right eye can weaken further with time-------------being a homoeopath, I can guide you to undergo homoeopathic treatment as homoeopathic medicine along with exercises and a diet plan are very effective combination for improving eyesight.

Know More About Contact Lenses!

Contact lenses are one of the most convenient ways to correct vision related problems. It is easily disposable and requires the least maintenance. It might have minor side effects in the form of irritations and allergies but it requires the least time for adaptability. They help to correct nearsightedness and farsightedness along with astigmatism and age-related vision problems like presbyopia. Following are the benefits and harms of wearing contact lenses.

Positive effects of contact lenses

1. Better vision - Wearing contact lenses improves your vision to a great amount, especially peripheral vision. They are comfortable to wear and can correct both nearsightedness and farsightedness. They can cause discomfort initially but are more effective than glasses. Lenses are also available in bifocals and tints and can be worn for long periods of time.
2. Great for an active lifestyle - Glasses can be a hindrance to sports activities and can limit your peripheral vision. Lenses, on the other hand, are great for an active lifestyle as they require short adaptation period. They are easy to put and take care of and do not require a lot of maintenance on your part as it needs least cleaning.

Risks of wearing contact lenses

1. Dry eyesDry eyes are the most common side effects of wearing contact lenses
2. Infections - Contact lenses wearers are prone to infection of the cornea called keratitis. It can cause swelling, blurry vision and other problems due to lack of oxygen supply to the cornea. Infection can be prevented by maintaining the hygiene while wearing and taking off lenses.
3. Allergic reactions - Allergic reaction to the contact lens solution can affect your vision as it causes inflammation of the eyeballs and redness. It can also cause eyelid inflammation and limit your scope of vision. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ophthalmologist.

I have red eyea for 15days. What should I do pls help eyes are paining and watering.

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
I have red eyea for 15days. What should I do pls help eyes are paining and watering.
Wash with plain cold water, apply cold packs to closed eyes, take a short period of rest, get adequate sleep, - these measures usually relieve most types of simple red eyes. If pain and watering is severe or unbearable, then it probably indicates a serious condition which needs an ophthalmologist consultation immediately. You also need urgent consultation if vision is also disturbed.

Measure sto reduce this include the computer screen should be 15 to 20 degrees below eye level, work under proper light. Use antiglare glasses while working on computer. Blink a lot. What should I do after contact with someone else's blood or saliva? Why My eyes are always red.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
What should I do after contact with someone else's blood or saliva?
Why My eyes are always red.
Any External contact with blood /Saliva will not harm you unless or until your blood dont comes in contact with other blood/saliva.Just wash hand with soap . .Eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: • Eye dryness • Too much sun exposure • Dust or other particles in the eye • Allergies • Infection • Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. These may be due to: • Blepharitis: Swelling along the edge of the eyelid. • Conjunctivitis: Swelling or infection of the clear tissue that lines the eyelids and covers the surface of the eye (the conjunctiva). This is often referred to as "pink eye." • Corneal ulcers: Sores on the cornea most often caused by a serious bacterial or viral infection. • Uveitis: Inflammation of the uvea, which includes the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. The cause is most often not known. It may be related to an autoimmune disorder, infection, or exposure to toxins. The type of uveitis that causes the worst red eye is called iritis, in which only the iris is inflamed.

What is cataract, how it comes and it only comes for human beings or also for animals?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
What is cataract, how it comes and it only comes for human beings or also for animals?
A cataract is an eye disease in which the clear lens of the eye becomes cloudy or opaque, causing a decrease in vision. The lens is a portion of the eye that is normally clear. It focuses rays of light entering the eye onto the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. In order to get a clear image onto the retina, the portions of the eye in front of the retina, including the lens, must be clear and transparent. The light initiates a chemical reaction within the retina. The chemical reaction, in turn, initiates an electrical response which is carried to the brain through theoptic nerve. The brain then interprets what the eye sees.In a normal eye, light passes through the transparent lens to the retina. The lens must be clear for the retina to receive a sharp image. If the lens is cloudy from a cataract, the image striking the retina will be blurry and the vision will be blurry. The extent of the visual disturbance is dependent upon the degree of cloudiness of the lens. Most cataracts are related to aging. Cataracts are very common in older people. By age 80, more than half of all Indians either have some degree of cataract or have already undergone cataract surgery in one or both eyes. By age 95, this percentage increases to almost 100%. A cataract can occur in either or both eyes. Individuals with a cataract in one eye usually go on to develop a cataract in the other eye as well. A cataract is not contagiousand cannot spread from one eye to the other or from person to person. Cataracts do not cause the eye to tear abnormally. They are neither painful nor make the eye itchy or red. Although vision can be restored in most people with cataracts, age-related cataracts are still the most common cause of blindness in the world, Causes of cataracts The lens is made of mostly water and protein. The protein is arranged in a specific way that keeps the lens clear and allows light to pass through it to focus a clear image onto the retinal surface. As we age, some of the protein may clump together and start to cloud a small area of the lens. This is our understanding of the cause of an age-related cataract. Over time, the cataract may become denser or cloud more of the lens, making it more difficult to see through. A cataract is not a growth or tumor. There are many causes of non age-related cataracts or secondary cataracts. Secondary cataracts are a result of similar changes to the protein of the lens, also resulting in visual blurring or visual loss. 1.Blunt or penetrating injury to the eye may cause secondary cataracts, either immediately after the injury or some weeks to years afterward. A cataract following an injury may appear and then not increase in density (be stationary) or be progressive. Eye surgery for other conditions can also cause cataracts. 2.Excessive exposure to ionizing radiation (X-ray), infrared radiation (as in glass blowers), or ultraviolet radiation cause secondary cataracts 3..Diabetes is associated with the development of secondary cataracts. 4.Inflammatory disease of the eye, such as iritis or uveitis, may cause or accelerate the development of cataract in the involved eye. 5.There are many genetic illnesses that are associated with the development of secondary cataracts. These include myotonic dystrophy, galactosemia, homocystinuria, Wilson's disease and Down syndrome, plus many others. Congenital infections with herpes simplex, rubella, toxoplasmosis, syphilis, and cytomegalic inclusion disease may also result in cataracts. 6.There are many medications which, when taken over a long period of time, can cause secondary cataracts. The most common of these are oralcorticosteroids, such as prednisone, which are used for a wide variety of medical conditions. 7.The term "congenital cataract" is used when a baby is born with any clouding of the lens. This may be present in one or both eyes, be stationary or be progressive. Causes include genetic disorders or intrauterine developmental disorders, both often associated with other physical abnormalities of the baby. 8.Atopic dermatitis, other diseases of the skin and mucous membranes, 9.hypothyroidism, and hyperparathyroidism are associated with the early development of cataracts. Patients who develop cataracts in both eyes at an early age often have family members who have also developed cataracts prematurely, implying a genetic cause, even in the absence of a recognized underlying disease. In the same way Cataract develop in the eye of Animals also as their eyes are no different from human eyes.

Hello lybrate-user. Color blindness tends to occur due to a variety of reasons. Let me enumerate in brief: (1) color blindness since birth/ childhood is more likely to be hereditary and likely to be transmitted. (2) swelling/ lesion in the brain or along the pathway of the optic nerve. This could occur due to injury, tumor, infection in the brain. (3) raised intra-ocular pressure could cause color vision defect. Thus, it is important to identify the cause of color blindness. Certain causes are hereditary and get transmitted to the next generation whereas others are not. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care-regards.

Hello. There is no medication or food for improving eye sight or to get rid of glasses. Get your vision tested and wear glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 20 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

Lasik is a simple laser procedure which changes the shape of the cornea so that the light rays fall on the retina properly. It is a painless procedure. It is a day care procedure does not require any injections, does not require admission, you can simply resume your duties in 2 days. Cost varies from centre to centre. Side effects are usually limited to dryness of eyes for few months. We can do lasik anytime after age of 18 years. You need to undergo proper prelasik checkup to decide whether lasik is safe for you or not.
