Dear , follow these important tips to get fair colour of skin * avoid to go in strong sunlight and if you have to go in sunlight then cover your face & exposed parts of body before going in sunlight. * Use sunscreen having SPF 15 on face especially in summer and spring season. * Take vitamin -E rich foods like dry fruits, egg and fish as you like. You can take cord liver oil capsule daily. * Take more anti oxidant foods like fruits ( Apple, grapes, melon) and citrus fruits. * Make paste of Papaya and apply this paste on face & exposed body parts and leave it for 15 minutes. It brightens the skin and lower melanin content. You can consult me privately for more detailed treatment , home remedies and your doubts.

I'm having dark circles and hyper pigmentation on my neck. Pls help. My neck has really turned dark brown.

I'm having dark circles and hyper pigmentation on my neck. Pls help. My neck has really turned dark brown.
Hi. Darkening of skin around neck is usually a sign of abnormal body mass index. So keep a check on your weight gain and blood sugars. Consult a dermatologist for creams and peel if required to reduce pigmentation. But most important is you need to start exercising if you are not doing it. Aerobic exercises are best than weights. Consume more fibres, reduce carbohydrates and easy sugars such as rice and chocolates and aerated drinks. Dark circles again may be due to multiple reasons. From lack of sleep, allergy, stress or pigmentation problems. You may require evaluation before getting a treatment for this. Take care.

Hair fall control -naturally
Hair adds to the beauty. But what if there are no hair , So stop hair fall before it's too late. There can be several factors behind hair loss such as environmental effects, aging, too much stress, excessive smoking, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, genetic factors, scalp infections, use of wrong or chemically enriched hair products, certain medicines and medical conditions like thyroid disorder, autoimmune diseases, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), iron-deficiency anemia, and chronic illnesses. And there is nothing more we can ask if we can control the loss naturally without any medicines. So, here are some natural remedies for hair loss:
1. Fenugreek Methi : Seeds of fenugreek consist of rich hormone antecedents that help in hair growth and repairs hair follicles. These also consist of nicotinic acid and proteins strengthen the hair growth.Soak the fenugreek seeds in water overnight and grind it in the next morning to fine paste. Apply this fenugreek seed paste to hair and leave it for 30 minutes. Rinse off the hair. Follow it for month to see best results.
2. Aloe vera: Usage of aloe vera to hair may reduce hair from scalp and itching. Alkalizing property in aloe vera improves the hairs pH levels which promote hair growth. Even aloe vera gel can fight with dandruff. Take an aloe vera leaf extract the gel and apply that gel to the hair. Leave it for hours and wash the hair with warm water. Follow this procedure for 3 – 4 times a week for better results.
3. Onion Juice: The sulpfur content in the onions improves blood circulation to hair follicles. Onion juice consists of anti bacterial properties that scratch the germs and parasites. Apply the onion juice on the scalp and leave it for half hour. Later shampoo your hair.
4. Hair oil massage: Proper hair and scalp massage will increase blood flow to the hair follicles, condition the scalp, and enhance the strength of your hair’s roots. It will also promote relaxation and reduce feelings of stress. You can use hair oils like coconut or almond oil, olive oil, castor oil, amla oil, or others. Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to the base oil for better and faster results.
5.Indian Gooseberry(Amla) : Use Indian gooseberry / amla for fast natural hair growth. Amla consists of rich vitamin C. If you have deficiency in the body this may results to hair loss. So gooseberry can help to maintain a healthy scalp and gives good hair growth. Take gooseberry and make pulp. Mix this pulp with lemon juice and massage your scalp with this mixture. Keep this overnight and shampoo in the morning.
6. Spinach and lettuce juice : Spinach and lettuce juice is thought to help with hair growth. Drink once in day this juice for healthy hair growth.
7. Safflower oil : For preventing hair loss and baldness this safflower oil is used. This oil is having rich monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids which are vital for healthy hair. You can find two varieties of safflower oils in the market where both are used for hair care. Safflower oil is helpful for perm, colored and dry hair. Use safflower oil for massaging into scalp. Leave it for 1 hour and rinse the hair. Use it every week to get healthy hair.
8. Potato Water: Lack of proper vitamins may cause to have a dry and delicate hair. Potato, can give you longer and thicker hair growth. Use potato water for rinsing the hair. After boiling the potatoes in water, let the water gets cool for some time and use that water for your hair after shampooing. Just rinse your hair with potato water.

What You Should Know About Pap Smear Test

DNB, DGO, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Faridabad
What You Should Know About Pap Smear Test

A Pap Smear is a screening test done to to test for occurrence of uterine cancer. Carried out in a quick and simple way to extract a sample, the sample is collected from the cervix area of a woman during a pelvic exam. The examination of the sample takes place under a microscope thereafter to find abnormalities that can point towards cancer and pre cancer changes.

There are many reasons why women should get a pap smear screening done:

  1. Women who are HIV positive should get this test done regularly so as to detect any anomalies in the cervix. This condition usually comes with higher risk of infections and cancer, which is why regular screening is required.
  2. Age is also another factor and women over the age of 30 should go through an annual screening on a compulsory basis. This is also true for women who have been through pregnancy and childbirth.

Preparing for a Pap Smear: To prepare for a pap smear test, you need to ensure that you are not menstruating at the time. Also, you may want to avoid sexual activity just before the test so as to get the most accurate readings. During the process, remember to stay calm and relax your body physically.

Procedure: The pap smear procedure is a quick one that might be only slightly uncomfortable. This test is usually carried out on the examination table at the gynecologist's clinic. The legs will need to be spread and placed in stirrups. The doctor will insert a speculum to hold open the vaginal opening so that the spatula can be inserted easily to take a sample from the area. This sample of the cells will be tested in a lab after due preservation.

Test Results: The test results can either be normal or abnormal. An abnormal result does not point at the presence of cancer. Rather it can simply mean that abnormal cells exist in the cervix. The doctor may ask you to go through these tests and screening more frequently so as to study the anomalies in a more detailed manner.

Hello, It's good to reduce weight at right time as many problems are directly related to overweight! Remember, there's no magic bullet for weight loss. The key to losing weight is burning more calories than you consume. Choose a variety of healthy foods — such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean sources of protein — and include physical activity in your daily routine. Go through the following guidelines and implement them in your routine: Management: 1: Drink plenty of water (at least 2-3 l/d) or other calorie-free beverages. 2: Be choosy about nighttime snacks. 3: Enjoy your favorite foods. 4: Have 6 meals per day - 3 main courses and 3 snack meals (snack meals should be healthy). 5: Do regular exercises daily (start with light and later may be little vigorous). Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. Preferably brisk walking, swimming, cycling, skipping. 6: Eat seasonal fruits. Fruit helps to satisfy your sweet tooth thanks to its natural sugars, while fresh vegetables help you fill up more quickly. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. 7: Eat more whole grains and cut simple carbs. Whole wheat bread, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, and brown rice are all excellent sources of energy and sources of nutrition. 8: Choose lean proteins instead of fatty ones. 9: Cut the salt from your diet. Eating more sodium causes your body to retain water, which can cause you to feel bloated and gain more weight. 10: Don't skip meals. When you skip meals, your body stops breaking down fat and starts breaking down muscle tissue. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than other tissues, so you're actually working against your goals 11: Eat at home. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 12: Give yourself a treat now and then. If you're attending a party or going out for a special occasion, allow yourself an indulgence. Just make sure that these indulgences don't become daily habits. 13: Go for a health walk. Gear up yourself daily for a health walk which not only shed off your extra calorie, but also reduces the stress levels. 14: Take small frequent breaks for a quick walk in between as sitting for long hours together encourages the accumulation of fat in the body! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine - Schwabe's Phytolacca Berry tablets/ thrice daily 1/2 an hr before the meals for 3 months. Thereafter revert me back for further guidance. (Slow and steady weight loss is good. As we all know when you lose weight fast, it seems to jump right back on, where as when you lose weight steadily over time because of changes to your diet and balancing your hormones out it tends to stay off.) All the best!

Hello Doctor, My dad is diabetic for the past 15+ years and is on medication (Glycinorm 80 + Rosuvas 10 mg). Recently did his master health check up and found his HBA1C was 13%, hence the diabetologist put him on Insulin (8-10-6 units for morning, afternoon and night respectively). Apparently, once a patient starts with insulin then for rest of his life he should continue. Is this true?

Your doctor has taken right decision. Your focus should on controlling your father's diabetes to help him stay healthy not on whether he is taking tablet or injection. Insulin is usually required after long standing diabetes. But it's not true that once on insulin then you need it for lifelong.

Hi - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.

Hi. Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent which is called 'Hairloss' rather and leads to bald areas of smooth and shiny surface. In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up which subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. (There are different pattern and types of hairloss, because of different reasons like Alopecia Areata, Telogen Effluvium, Scarring Alopecia, Traction Alopecia, etc.) Causes of hairrloss: Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or male/ female pattern baldness - hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormaonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger, use of bore water, any other underlying diseases, etc. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Use Rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Medication: Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200/ twice a day for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, take Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. (N.B.: With the help of homoeopathic medicines, we can only prevent further progress of the hairloss, means it will get arrests in the present condition in case of progressive baldness. But, in case there are areas of baldness which has gone smooth and shiny, you will have to choose an option of Hair Transplant along with theses medications!).

I have been facing lower back pain, it came by lifting the weight. But then after some time I had stopped doing that ...
Dear low back pain k liyyy you can do it perfectly….1, Lying on your stomach, prop yourself up on your forearms. Align your elbows directly under your shoulders. Press firmly through your palms and the tops of your feet. Press your pubic bone forward. You will feel sensations in your lower back, but breathe through it. You are allowing blood flow int From all-fours, bring your right knee behind your right wrist with your lower leg at a diagonal toward your left hip. Square off your hips toward the ground. Bend forward. Widen the elbows and place one hand on top of the other as a pillow for your forehead. Hold 2-3 minutes and then switch to the left side for 2-3 minutes. O the lower back for healing. Hold for 1-3 minutes. 2….Lying on your back, bend both knees with the feet flat on the ground. Bend the right knee like a figure four, with the outer left ankle to the right thigh. Lift the left foot into the air, bringing the left calf parallel to the ground. Thread your right hand between the opening of the legs and interlace your hands behind your left thigh. Hold 2-3 minutes and then repeat on the other side 3…Scoot your buttocks all the way into the wall and swing your feet up the wall. This pose is excellent for relaxing the muscles of the lower back and drains stagnant fluid from the feet and ankles. Do this pose after a challenging workout and always after traveling by plane. Hold for 5-10 minutes. I hope you will fittttt ands fine…………….Thnx.

Do's and Don't for Asthama

MBBS, MD -Pulmonary Medicine-Tuberculosis ,Respiratory Disease Medicine , Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (DTCD), European Diploma in Respiratory Medicine
Pulmonologist, Delhi
Play video

Hello friends, I am Dr Hemant Kadra. I am a pulmonologist. A pulmonologist is a doctor who deals with respiratory problems. Today I will be explaining Asthma in a very simple manner because it is a simple disease.
So, when to suspect asthma?

All patients who are present with a cough with or without breathlessness on exposure to dust, fumes, cold atmosphere, on eating chilled vegetables and fruits can have asthma. They also give family histories of allergic disorders like allergic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis so we can suspect asthma in our patients who are present with a cough with or without breathlessness and on exposure to such triggers like cold, dust, fumes, change of weather- this is the clinical history.
There are 2 components-

One is prevention. You must avoid all your triggers. And treatment part is slightly different. Treatment is we have to control swelling in the area, narrowing of the airways.

There are 2 kinds of medication- one is a reliever and the other is preventer medication. Reliever medication gives you immediate relief and preventer medication is given for a longer amount of time just to maintain the anti-inflammatory component in the airways. So, we combine both the type of medications in an inhaler or one rhotahaler to give maximum benefits to the patients. So, these are the basic things about asthma.

I will tell you about basic myths about asthma. What people think about asthma but is not true. People think that asthma is a contagious disease. It is communicable. No, it is not true.

  • It is an allergic disorder first of all. Asthma or allergy runs in families because it is a genetic disorder.
  • Secondly, an inhaler is a drug delivery system. It is not a drug. It delivers lowest possible drugs to the airways to a very minimum side-effect. So, this myth is not true that inhalers are very hard, they are addicting, habit forming, it is not true. It is a drug delivery system.
  • Third myth is that inhalers are to given to severely ill patients or very chronic asthmatic patients this is also not true. We believe that inhalers should be given early whenever they are detected with asthma early in the disease. So, to prevent later chronic changes in the airbase, we should start inhalers in the beginning only.

So, if you want to consult me, you can cotact me through Lybrate. You can contact me through sms, sudio clips, video clips, whatsapp, email only through lybrate. Com. I am available 24 hours a day and ready to help you.

Thank you.
