I am a 28 yr old female and having pain at left side in my left knee from 1 month. This pain is not for always. But when I go down stairs I feel the pain. And at the time of running also pain is felt.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to have persistent knee pain. If there is no history of any injury to the affected knee and there are no s/s of either inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness, local warmth etc, my advice will be: - to start with intensive physical therapy - gentle anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol whichever suits you - adequate calcium and vitamin d intake - activity modification as in to stop physical activities which increases pain till you feel better let me know in 2-3 weeks time how you are feeling otherwise we will get some x rays and blood tests for you. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

Sometimes, my calf of any one leg move slightly up and it cause severe pain. What is the problem and what should I do...
It is called muscle cramps. In such case I would advise you to take some precautions and start taking the physio treatment to get it completely cured. Take some alum mix in hot water and take fermentation thrice a day along with calf stretching and strengthening exercises. Make a habit of brisk walking daily for 20-25 min atleast. This will give you some percent of relief. Start exercises one or two days after hot fermentation do no start immediately. Make sure not to sit in one position for long time with knee bending. Avoid prolong standing as gravity creates a downward flow so you may face pain. So avoid against gravity positions. Using your thumb massage your calf area as it will increase pump action and release all toxins from your body by reducing pain and gives you relaxation for any doubt please contact. Regards.

For back pain do take ift physiotherapy treatment of 15 min duration of 12 days regularly regarding your bone mineral density is of osteopenia level consume calcium calciferol rich foods such as milk egg green leafy vegetables curd guava custard apple and exposure to morn 6am - 8am sunlight or from 4, 30 pm - 5, 30 pm sunlight for about 20 min daily which indeed helps for bone strength.

Avoid long standing sitting, toward bending, lifting heavyweight, etc. Tk rest and physiotherapy treatment treatment. It will help you for long term relief.

It can be scitica pain. Just take physiotherapy for7-10 days. Posture care is very important. If no progress, go for mri lumbo sacral region and consult me.

I came from gym, then after shower when I was about to wear shorts and raised my left leg, I felt pain in my lower back (upper buttock centre portion. I am not able to bend forward, it pains when I try to Bend forward. What could be the problem? At gym I didn't felt any pain. But when I came home and after shower I felt the pain. Please help. You could have injured your back unknowingly at the time of exercise,may be due to wrong posture or not lifted any weight correctly..so there could be a minor bulge in the disc or soft tissue injury.Best would be to avoid exercising for a week,rest as much as you can and dont take any massages,avoid lifting any heavy weight,don't bend forward or sit unsupported.Do ice compress to the painful area 3-4 times a day,can apply some nise gel.If it doesnt help consult a doctor.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Kindly show me photograph& the x rays of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. Try using alternate hot and cold paxks for 15 minutes every hour to relax muscle spasm. Then do gentle back stretching exercises and focus on changing posture sleeping habits.
