High cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take green veg., whole grain.garlic,. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

After 4 hours of sleep I wake up daily kindly suggest some effective medicine for sound sleep for minimum 7 hours.

MBBS
General Physician, Ahmednagar
After 4 hours of sleep I wake up daily kindly suggest some effective medicine for sound sleep for minimum 7 hours.
Simple ways for a restful sleep 1.Cut down on caffeine: Caffeine drinkers may find it harder to fall asleep. Even a single cup of coffee in the morning may lead to a sleepless night. Caffeine blocks the effects of adenosine, a neurotransmitter thought to promote sleep. Caffeine can also interrupt sleep by increasing the need to urinate during the night. Because caffeine withdrawal can cause headaches, irritability, and extreme fatigue, it may be easier to cut back gradually rather than to go cold turkey. Those who can’t or don’t want to give up caffeine should avoid it after 2 p.m. Or noon if they are especially caffeine–sensitive. 2.Stop smoking or chewing tobacco: Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant that can cause insomnia. If you continue to use tobacco, avoid smoking or chewing it for at least one to two hours before bedtime. 3.Limit alcohol intake: Alcohol depresses the nervous system, so a nightcap may seem to help some people fall asleep. Alcohol suppresses REM sleep, and the soporific effects disappear after a few hours. Alcohol also worsens snoring and other sleep breathing problems. 4. Worry and stress causes sleeplessness. Find out what hurts you and resolve the issue.

Hi lybrate-user, Working in an office often means long hours at a desk. Even though it might not seem like you’re putting much stress on your body while sitting in your comfy office chair, you might be doing more damage than you think. Luckily, preventing lower back pain at work is easier than you think. Here are five simple guidelines for reducing back pain in the workplace. 1. Watch your posture It turns out your mom was right when she nagged you all those years: slouching is bad for you. Whether you’re sitting or standing, make sure you’re watching your posture to avoid back pain. Picking the right chair is important too, especially if you’re tied to your cubicle all day. If you don’t have a chair that supports your lower back, you can put a rolled towel or small pillow behind your lower back. 2. Take a break Your body is remarkably good at telling you when it’s feeling worn out, so make sure you’re listening! If you’re feeling tired or sore at work, take a couple minutes to stand up, stretch, or even change your position. It may seem like a small step, but even a few seconds of stretching can make a big difference. 3. Keep your mouse (and keyboard) close Having your mouse, keyboard, or other important desktop items too far out of reach can cause you to have to strain to reach them, and that can hurt your back. Make sure you keep these items at a comfortable distance from where you’re sitting. Good Luck. Hope this helps.

I am a 64 year old man. I have a big scrotal mass of the size of the medium sized apple since the last 40 years. I have no problem whatsoever. I do not want to get operated. Please Suggest remedy.

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
Surgical removal is the only treatment. But if you don't want a surgery and you are not troubled by it, just visit a surgeon, he will examine and warn you of any future complications. Surgeries are best done elective, rather than landing in emergency room.
