Addison's disease is due to deficiency of hormones from adrenal cortex, so the treatment is to take adequate dosage of either hydrocortisone or prednisolone daily. The treatment is for life time.

Herbal tea with ginger is beneficial for thyroid functioning. In fact, beverages including coffee, tea, carbonated drinks and alcohols should be avoided by patients afflicted with thyroid disorders. In its place herbal tea may be an alternative option...Application of watercress's paste on the enlarged neck is also an effective remedy....take punarnavadi mandoor and kanchnar guggul 1-1 tab twice a day

Hello Mr. lybrate-user Gaining 35kgs is a way too high in past 4 years.. Weight gain is mainly associated with wrong eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle if there are no clinical conditions.. Follow sum simple guidelines >> ■ drink 2 glasses lukewarm water with lemon on an empty stomach. ■have good quality healthy breakfast.. ■ mid morning snack can be any single fruit. ■ again for the lunch you can much on raw salads n vegetable sabzi of your choice (cooked in less oil) with roti. ■ evening snack can be your herbal tea with roasted chana. ■ dinner should be as light as possible (means low calorie) so you can have soups or some kind of chaana chaat or so. See to it that you always have home cooked meals. Limit the portion size of your meals. Avoid fried, junk, sweets. Exercise at least 50mins a day (as per your age a brisk walk is recommended) Also get your TSH levels checked.

Infertility - 6 Causes Behind It

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
IVF Specialist, Delhi
Infertility - 6 Causes Behind It

Infertility is characterized by the inability to get pregnant even after unprotected intercourse for over a year. Repeated miscarriages along with other factor can often be the reason behind infertility in women.

Probable causes of Infertility in Women:

  1. The most common cause of infertility in women is an abnormal uterus. Congenital flaws, such as septate uterus can lead to repeated miscarriages. The normal pH level of the uterus is approximately in the range of 6.6 to 7.6. So a pH level below or above this range can lead to an abnormal uterus.

  2. Ovulation defects (such as the eggs not properly maturing in the ovaries or the ovaries not releasing mature eggs) are other causes as well.

  3. Another possible cause is Endometriosis, a condition wherein the tissues which line the inner walls of the uterus start to grow on the outsides of the uterus, such as in the pelvis or the abdomen.

  4. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), a condition wherein the ovaries become enlarged with tiny cysts growing on them, is another important cause for infertility. Hormonal imbalances are at the root of this condition.

  5. A block or damage to the fallopian tubes can prevent the sperm to properly fertilize the egg thus, leading to infertility.

  6. Unhealthy lifestyle habits such as obesity or being underweight, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and not following a healthy diet are other important causes of infertility. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

What is initial stage of high blood pressure and blood sugar? And how we protected our self from those diseases?

What is initial stage of high blood pressure and blood sugar? And how we protected our self from those diseases?
Dear lybrate user, the initial stages of type 2 diabetes & blood pressure are known as pre-diabetes and pre-hypertension. The most important fact one needs to keep in mind is that these are predominantly lifestyle disorders hence one needs to lead a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent these. The following tips could be useful: - Sleep well for at least 6-7 hrs everyday - Eat small meals at regular timings everyday, eat well balanced meals. Do not skip your meals. - Avoid eating outside food very frequently (once a week should be fine) - Reduce the amount of salt you take in a day, and preserved/ processed foods (pickles, papad, ready to eat meals, etc) - Avoid too much of coffee, tea, alcohol and stop smoking or taking tobacco - Exercise everyday starting with 20 mins and increasing it to 1 hr (any form like walking, running, swimming, weight training, or even a mix if fine as long as you do it consistently everyday) - Do not take stress about issues, be positive and try to be happy - In case you have a family history, regular check-ups wih your family physician is preferable Though many of these might seem difficult to follow in one go, but slowly you could adopt these measures, which will help you remain healthy and reduce the likelihood of you developing these cardiovascular disorders. Take care!

Take diet in hypothyroidism:- high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread, Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. flax oil, Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, Avoid few foods in hypothroidism i.e. caffeine products tea, coffee, tabcco, alcohol / wine , kale, broccoli, spinach, mustard green, cabbage, turnip, millet, cassava, linseeds, pine nuts, soy products as soy milk, tofu, soybeans, soy souce, also avoid stress. lybrate-user, Looking at the thyroid report, TSH is low (0.10), so you can reduce the dose by 12.5 mcg per day (to 87.5 mcg). Then check TSH after 6 weeks if it has been able to maintain TSH in desired range (3 to 4 mU/L). Thanks.
