Hello lybrate user biscuits are allowed and good only if it is maida free eg. Marie gold. Can be taken along with tea. Fruits are always best choice as it can fulfill the required nutrition and improves overall health. But always seasonal fruits are good to be taken eith in the morning noon or evening preferably. Not post dinner.

Hello doctor last 2 month pehle mera thyroid badh gaya tha aur TSH level 15 tak badh gaya tha to doctor ne meri dose 150 mcg kar di thi. But now ab mera TSH level 0.27 h to ab mujhe kitni mcg tablet khani chaihiye.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. With TSH at 0.27 mU/L you have achieved a good control. With this I am sure there are no symptoms of hypothyroidism. Then it is better to continue the same dose. You may check TSH after another 8 weeks, if then it goes further down, then you may reduce the dose in consultation with your doctor. Because frequent changes will not help. Thanks.

hello Anand, contrary to popular belief Diabetes is not always progressive disease. It may be reversed or progress can be stopped. it might have been difficult for you but it is very important to lose weight for you. many of the diabetic medicines unfortunately increases weight. But if you reduce weight by 30 kg, your diabetes will improve and you will need very less medicine. All the problems associated will also go down. there is a general approach and a specific approach as per individual patients metabolic profile. i will give you a general approach to try for 4 weeks. 1. do not eat anything sugary or sweet. 2. eat plenty of salad in lunch and dinner 3. Eat only 3 times per day. 4. do atleast 30 min of exercise every day of any kind. you will need to continously monitor your fasting and post meal sugar and reduce dose as per advise of your treating doctor, once you start losing weight.

Yes it is curable. Mode of treatment can be of 3 ways depending upon other factors: 1] anti-thyroid drugs 2] radio active iodine treatment 3] surgery each way of treatment has its own positive and negative points. Further advice requires details of history & investigations.

I am 27 years old I have a type 2 diabetes can you please tell me the weight loss please I am 80 kgs.
There is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

In calcaneal spur does the pain happens to be in both heels simultaneously? Does ultrasound therapy helps? If there is no uric acid or calcaneal spur problem what can be the other reason for heel pains (in both foot).

Both heel pain can be due to plantar fascitis. Calcaneal spur can be radiological finding in asymptomatic patients. Ultrasound therapy helps in such conditions. Follow these lifestyle changes religiously to get benefit. 1. Reduce body weight as obesity will aggravate the stress on heel. 2. Avoid exercises like running / walking on hard surfaces. Stop such activities when you start developing pain. 3. Roll your feet on bottle of cold water for 20 mins 4 times a day or can apply ice pack. 4. Use shoes with silicone sole inserts. 5. Do calf muscle and heel stretches daily. 6. Avoid prolonged standing or sitting. 7. Use night splint to keep foot flexed at night. Stop using it once pain is relieved. 8. Use analgesics like ibuprofen for decreasing pain and inflammation. With proper lifestyle changes as above 90 % patients have relief and functionality. Only 10% patients would require surgical intervention like plantar fascia release or gastrocnemius recession.

I am 30 years old male and an old case of Papillary Carcinoma thyroid since 2007 (operated). My last three WBS are normal. Since then Tg is also normal. Few doctors say TSH should be <0.01, few says it should be within normal range. I want to know what should be TSH value, I am taking 200 mcg eltroxin daily.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology, Diploma in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, Cetificate Course In Thyroid Disorders Management (CCMTD)
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Since you are free from the diseae and Tg is normal, TSH should be preferably around 0.1 to 0.5 mU/L. Thanks.
