My lower ear of both sides are teared due to prolonged use of heavy ear rings. Is plastic surgery better than normal stitching?

My lower ear of both sides are teared due to prolonged use of heavy ear rings. Is plastic surgery better than normal ...
Plastic surgery is always better because they are trained in giving good sutures and skin closure. However, this is a simple surgery and can be adequately performed by other surgeons also- ENT or General Surgeon.

I am 23 years old. Till the age of 17 my voice was very good and melodious. I used to sing songs in my school days. But after the 17th year I got addicted to the "Sugam pinch Mukhwas" for some time. And after that I was feeling some variations in my voice. That is I couldn't speak clearly, sing with good voice, speak loudly, as before. It feels like something blocking my voice inside my throat. Before 3 years from now, I had my (Nasal Septoplasty) surgery done. But I think it didn't went good and sometimes I still feel problem while breathing and speaking. And before some few months from now I had my blood test done. And the doctors said that I have some kind of throat infection and I did noticed that several times as I spit some kind black fluid in very little amount can be seen in the saliva. So is there any effective solution to my problem i.e. To get my melodious voice back, speak loudly and clearly, breathe easily? I am ready for any treatment - Homeopathy, Ayurvedic, etc.

Breathe deeply and exhale on a hisssssssing sound. Repeat 10 times. Proper breathing is the foundation for a healthy voice AND control over nervous energy that can make the voice quiver. Say “Mm-mmm (as in yummy) Mmm-hmm (like yes) ” Repeat 5 times. This develops mask resonance, which creates a clean and vibrant sound by creating a clean approximation of the cords and a resonance that will sound great and project easily. Say “Mm-mmm. Mmm-hmm.” up and down your vocal range, from low to middle to high and back again, 10 times.

Dear Lybrate taser, Most throat infections are caused by a virus, so antibiotics won’t help. Antibiotics don’t kill viruses. Even when a throat infection is caused by bacteria, antibiotics are only recommended for people who are more likely to get complications of a throat infection or develop tonsillitis. There are some simple but effective ways you can relieve your symptoms at home, as well as taking over-the-counter medicines for pain and fever. You can help soothe a sore throat by: gargling with warm salty water sucking on an ice cube or a throat lozenge drinking hot water with honey and lemon — a simple and effective home remedy. For fever, you may take paracectamol twice daily.

First you need to confirm if it is tonsillitis or pharyngitis. If you are having tonsillitis every 2-3 months than you should definitely go for tonsillectomy. It is a safe procedure and you will get a lot of relief. Please get in touch if you want more information.

•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.

I am now 70 years old having snoring problem since many years. I sleep well but the sound is nuisance to others. Please suggest cure.

BAMS
Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi, Please follow these tips to stop snoring: - Reduce your weight if you are obese. - Perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday. - Quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - Quit alcohol and sedatives which relax the throat muscles and results in snoring. - Sleep on sides instead on back. - Elevate the head by using a thick pillow which eases the breathing. - Clear the nose before going to bed. - Establish regular sleep pattern. - Keep the bedroom air moist by using humidifier; as dry air irritates the mucosal membrane in the nose and throat. - Perform throat exercises like repeating the vowels a, e, i, o, you loudly for 2-3 mins few times a day or keeping the tongue behind the teeth and moving it backwards - 3-4 times a day. - Anti snoring appliances can also be used.
