I am 46year old lady. There is a pain in my right hip. Doctor told me that it is a sciatic nerve pain. I am taking gabapin not tablet twice a day. It is giving me reflex and pain is also not that much. Kindly advice me whether I should continue this tablet or go for MRI.

The location of the knee pain can vary depending on which structure is involved. With infection, the whole knee might be swollen and painful, while a torn meniscus or fracture of a bone gives symptoms only in one specific location. The severity of the pain can vary, from a minor ache to a severe and disabling pain. Some of the other findings that accompany knee pain are difficulty walking due to instability of the knee, limping due to discomfort, locking of the knee (unable to bend the knee) so I would like to suggest you to please consult a doctor personally, & get the pain diagnosed to help you to get proper treatment. There is a specific line of treatment in ayurvedic panchkarma & these are practically effective.

If the wound is still discharging, then it's not good news. Tests need to be done to know if the hip replacement is infected. If confirmed, then the only way of controlling the infection is to remove the implants. Once infection is controlled, a revision hip can be done.

Hi Apply pranacharya restopain oil or prasarini oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. And agni tundi vati and maha yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day..

Mostly pain in elbow is due to strained or inflamed soft tissues like tendon. As per the symptoms (pain while making fist) seems you are suffering from tennis elbow. After looking to your pain I would recommed you for some care that you can take at home. If possible visit some physio who can give you several mdalities like us, ift etc to cure the pain. Along with it we have a special program designed in case tennis elbow) like hold relax, mulligans etc just to get relief from pain. Precautions: 1. Avoid weight lifting. 2. Avoid doing twisting moments like supination-pronation which usally is done while playing badmitton or while washing clothes. 3. Give rest to your work for some days. 4. Wear forearm band to rest your muscles. 5. Avoid bending your elbow into positions that cause the symptoms. Treatment: 1. Give rest to your elbow. If severe pain you can use sling to avoid gravity pressure. 2. Ice and hot pack combo. Apply ice for 3 min and then hot for 2 min. There is very good result of both applications together. After 3 days of taking contrast therapy you can make the ice and hot ratio as 1: 1 mean one min cold and then one min hot. Start with hot pack and ends with cold. Take it for 15-18 min thrice a day for early recovery. Please make sure it should not be too hot or too cold. 3. Massage using your 2 fingers over the painful area. 4. Exercises: start the exercise once your pain is decreased atleast 50-60% a) palm lifting b) elbow up and down in gravity eliminated position c) strengthening of elbow muscles. Hello, you hv not mentioned weight of your mom. If she is obesed, it might be one of the reasons of knee & ankle pain of her, apart form gastric disorder. She should tk, plenty of water. Her diet be regular, easily digestible on time. She should go for suitable physiotherapy foe knee & ankle pain. Give her homoeo medicine/ @ colchicum 1000-6 pills, wkly. @ carbo veg 200-6 pills, thrice a day. Avoid, caffiene, junkfood, pizza, burger fried, spicy, cold intake tk care.

Hi Thanks for your query and Welcome to Lybrate. I am Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. You are quite young and should not be having persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - To maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - If pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - Physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - Adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - Ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - Analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - Avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. I am 24years old. I used to work out in a gym daily. But one night after working for 1-2 hours on my office laptop, I laid down on my bed and felt a lot of pain in my lower back(just above hips). Initial symptoms include a dull pain in the low back, followed by pain in the back of the thighs along with a tingling/numbness in certain cases. Some times she maybe a cervical spondylosis patient, if so please take prasarinyadi kwatham twice daily with one tab yogarajaguggulu before food, cap cervilon two cap twice daily, cap orthonil one cap thrice daily after food and apply cheri ya narayana taila on the affected area for one hour.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Hello according to your condition you have to take hot water fermentation through towel and do it 3 times in a day duration-15 min along with stretching and back exercises like straingh leg raising, bridging with -20 min repetition -5 sec hold do it for 3 days sure you will get well soon take care.

Get yourself checked with a physiotherapist for a detailed postural assessment. Forward bending, slouched sitting, unsupported sitting posture for prolonged duration can lead to backache. Long working hours, abnormal sleep-wake pattern can also lead to backache. So, check whether your postural habits have lead to this problem. You can change your sitting posture- to supported sitting. You can also avoid bending forward to avoid backache. And consult a rheumatologist, if the pain doesn't subside with postural correction.

Sir my right knee (ACL) ligament was tore while playing. So I took treatment and get it reconstruct through a doctor. He inserted screw in knee. Now 10th month is going on after operations. But still I am having pain in my knee when I sit in latrine. Specially after running or if I stand for more than an hour. I did many exercises also for this. I am in army so I have to do hard work. Please advise me some medicine or exercise s to overcome this stiffness of knee. In running I have no problem but I have problem in fully bend of leg.

Lybrate-user your weight acording to your height is normal. So pain must b because of some damage to the cartilage of knee joint due to tear of acl. First of all stop using indian toilets. Start useing western toilet. Do not bend your knee more than 90 degree as far as possible. Do some strengthening exe of quadriceps nd halmstring.

I fell from a motorbike skidding on a soil/clay road 10 days back. Bike safety guard slightly pressed my leg MTP Joint, there is no fracture/swelling but pain persist, I didn't use any pain killers or cloth thinking it would heal automatically since there is no swelling/injury. Please advise.
