Answer is yes to all 3 questions but use in moderation. Skip sugary soft drinks which have lots of caffeine in them eg pepsi and coke's as they weaken bones. One can have sherbet and roofafza and thandai and aam panna type of sugary drinks in moderation.

Hello sir / madam my grandma went into a angioplasty surgery so please suggest me further diet and daily routine. In the sense on food habit and exercise etc.

•try to lose weight if you are above your ideal body.this should be a gradual process,so avoid any fat diets or quick weight loss methods. •quality of fat is more important than quantity. along with reducing the quantity emphasize on omega 3 fats in the diet;this can be done in the form of adding flaxseeds and fish. •avoid consumption of margarine,oily or fried foods, red meat,sweet preparations like cakes,pastries, margarine and carbonated drinks. •foods high in magnesium helps to protect heart, include foods such as broccoli, potatoes,spinach, and wheat germ. •include at least 8-9 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables in a day’s diet and 1 serving of green leafy vegetable daily. •avoid taking any kind of stress or strain may it be physical or psychological. **small frequent meal: • diet with small frequent meals,to avoid any strain on the heart • diet rich in mufa and pufa,and low in sfa • a diet plan low in sodium content. • a high fibre diet is recommended.

How do you define FDC in Diabetes medicine like Trimetaday 1, prolomet xl 50 for BP and in Heart medicine like Novastat 20 which I had been taking after heart stent 2 years back. Kindly elaborate and help. Regards.

I am 40 years old. My problem is that my heart beat 90 plus almost time. When I felt uneasy that time heart beat is 100 plus. Please tell me any kind of medicine or type of lifestyle so actually 72.

Heart rate increases when you take tobacco or any stimulant. Heart rate also increases in worry and stressful situation. Heart beats can be reduced by physical exercise and stress free life style.

Hello Doctor My age is 32 Is it good to take zandu pancharishta tonic for acidity and gas and tight feeling in chest.

Dear lybrateuser, -you can cure your acidity by avoiding spicy & fried foods, have bland food for few days -take your meals on time & do not skip meals, have meals 2-3 hrs before bedtime -avoid too much of gassy foods like beans, pulses, legumes, dairy products -have plenty of fluids, water atleast 8-10 glasses a day -do not lye down immediately after meais -can have snacks inbetween meals, like nuts, sandwich, fruits, poha -do regular exercise, walking for 20-30 min a day, do yoga which benefits proper digestion -avoid too much tea, coffee -if you benefit from the above you can gradually stop all medication.

  1. Lose weight if overweight or obese.      
  2. Drink plenty of water.       
  3. Exercise regularly for atleast 30mins.        
  4. Increase the intake of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.       
  5. Choose low fat dairy products over the high fat dairy products.        
  6. Have small frequent meals.      
  7. Include proteins like fish, lean chicken but in baked, boiled or grilled.


  1. Don’t smoke.      
  2. Don’t drink alcohol.        
  3. Reduce the intake of salt and can use herbs, lemon.      
  4. Avoid sugary and processed foods.        
  5. Avoid fast food and fried food.

Disappointed, if someone not seen or don't have time to consult doctor on report, time is very little, I will be very thankful if I get response, wants to know LDL CHOLESTEROL is 172 and TOTAL CHOLESTEROL IS 212, ALKALINE PHOSPHATE IS 110. What should I do. What kind of treatment you suggest and What medicine you prescribed. I am 34 years old male. I am not a chain smoker, however smoke around 5 cigarettes a day. What should I do to keep my heart tar free. What diet chart should I follow. I am trying to quit smoking, yet to quit it completely. Is there any specific guideline for quitting?

Smoking even one cigarette is hazardous for the heart. Five is bad and chain smoking is worst. Smoke not only contain tar but about 100 chemicals and most of them are bad. Heart attack with instant death is the most dreaded impact. Quit it completely and instantly. Start chewing gum and cardamom whenever you get a feeling of smoking. In just 3-4 weeks, you would have quit smoking. Eat fresh fruits, drink 3 litres of water, a normal home made food.

I have headache when I Wake up in the morning and that continues whole day. My BP is 140/96 so I m taking lose H tablet also checked LIPID profile Total cholesterol 224.7 HDL Cholesterol - Direct. 24.3 S Triglycerides. 188.7 VLDL. 37.7 LDL. 162.7 LDL/HDL (RATIO). 6.7 Total Cholesterol/HDL. 9.2 Risk Ratio Please advice.
