I am 32 years old female, trying to plan my family. I have a 29 days cycle and I ovuulate every month. But I do not know why I have not yet ovulated this month yet. I had my periods on 4th september. Is it normal? I am getting some watery odorless discharge since the last 2-3 days and mild pain in my lower abdomen center mostly when I am bending or trying to sit on the floor. What is it? Why is this happening?

Can you tell me what is safe period. My wife is 46 yrs, I would like to know her safe period.

MBBS
General Physician, Fatehabad
Can you tell me what is safe period. My wife is 46 yrs, I would like to know her safe period.
Hi lybrate-user, please share this information with your wife as she will understand it better specially days. If you have a very regular menstrual cycle of 28 to 30 days, you are indeed very lucky. For you 7 days before your period and 7 days right after your period ends is mostly considered infertile period or “safe” period. If you have irregular or fluctuating periods again the first 5 to 7 days after period gets over is “safe”. Even the last 5 to 7 days before menstruating begins is considered “safe”. These “safe” days can fluctuate depending on a woman’s hormones and change in diet. With irregular periods it’s difficult to calculate these days. Therefore, the first 5 days after you’ve had a period are perfectly safe – or as safe can be. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

PCOS is not a curable disorder; however it can definitely be controlled. If you have irregular periods and trying to conceive; losing weight and taking Ovulation medication under the supervision of a fertility specialist should help. It would be heartening for you to know that the chance of pregnancy with Ovulation Induction is very good. In rare cases, Laparoscopic Ovarian Drilling/ IUI/ IVF may be required.

Hello, Actually you are late for any emergency contraceptive measure. Now get a urine pregnancy test done and check for pregnancy. If positive then MTP can be opted for unwanted pregnancy under a physician's supervision. Regards

Pl go for pregnancy test instead of guessing. If it's negative get it done again second time in two three days. Sometimes bleeding occurs during pregnancy too which is not good.

I am 30 years female. I gave birth to a my first baby last October (3 months back) with c-section delivery. After delivery doctor confirmed that I have fibroid. Is fibroids are dangerous? Need to take treatment or surgery? Doctor told to have another baby with in 2 year if needed. Is it urgent to get pregnant? Should I go for scanning (i am just 2.5 post pregnant). Hello dear Lybrate-user, Warm welcome to Lybrate.com I have evaluated your query thoroughly. Rather than scarring, just get an ultrasound and size of the fibroid. Small, asymptomatic fibroids can always be kept under observation as of 2 -3 cm size. It is not urgent to get pregnant, but as the fibroid increases in size, then there are difficulties in conceiving, so just keep the size under check every 6 months by ultrasound. Many fibroids even stay as same size for years also, some grow faster, there is no fix pattern of their growth in every individual. But take home message at present is to do not panic and concentrate more towards the newborn care Hope this clears your query. Wishing you fine motherhood and health ahead. Welcome for any further assistance. Regards take care.

Sex is just made up of 3 words but this word has a great depth in itself. By sex you do not mean just sexual intercourse and game over. Sex depends upon a number of factors and some main contributors are--------------- 1. Your overall relation with your partner--------------------------- 2. How is your image in the eyes of your partner------------------ 3. Whether you respect your partners thoughts or not---------------- 4. Whether you do sex because you want it-------------------have you realised what your partner wants------------- 5. Time spent on foreplay------------------------------------- 6. Whether she feels secured in your company-------------------------- so manish think of all the above factors and see where you are lacking and you will yourself get the answer------------------------

Eating during summers

MBBS, AFIH, PGDMLS, MD-HRM, MD-HM
General Physician, Gurgaon
Eating during summers

There's no question that sunscreen should be your first line of defense against the blazing summer Sun. But eating tomatoes could give you a little extra protection: consuming more lycopene-the carotenoid that makes tomatoes red-may protect your skin from sunburn. In one study, participants who were exposed to UV light had almost 50 percent less skin reddening after they ate 2 1/2 tablespoons of tomato paste (or drank about 1 2/3 cups of carrot juice daily), in addition to their regular diet, for 10 to 12 weeks. Supplements, however, weren't as effective: in the same study, those who received a lycopene supplement or synthetic lycopene weren't significantly protected against sunburn.

Staying hydrated keeps your memory sharp and your mood stable. It also helps keep your body cool (by sweating) during hot summer months. The good news is that you don't just have to drink water. You can eat it, too: in addition to delivering skin-protecting lycopene, watermelon is 92 percent water (hence the name). Another boon? Research shows that eating foods that are full of water helps keep you satisfied on fewer calories. (Interestingly enough, drinking water alongside foods doesn't have the same effect.)

Raspberries are a great source of fiber some of it soluble in the form of pectin, which helps lower cholesterol. One cup of raspberries has 8 grams of fiber and a study in the Journal of Nutrition suggests that eating more fiber may help prevent weight gain or even promote weight loss. Over the course of a two-year study, researchers found that when study participants boosted their fiber by 8 grams for every 1,000 calories, they lost about 4 1/2 pounds. Try it for yourself. If you're consuming 2,000 calories per day, aim to increase your fiber by 16 grams

Fresh blueberries and jamuns straight from the berry field are a special treat! Turns out the antioxidants in them may help ward off muscle fatigue by mopping up the additional free radicals

My Mother is 45 years old. She has Breast Cancer. Now she is under Chemotherapy. What will do to prevent from it in future.

DGO, MD, MRCOG, CCST, Accredation in Colposcopy

Nothing much can be done. Response to chemotherapy depends on a nos of factors like type of tumour, stage, grade, hormone receptors present and inherent patient response. I would advice her to do as the Oncologist advices.
