Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am suffering from a pain in the inner side of the knee, due to what my physician tells me is a ligament tear during exercise. Pain is not lessening inspite of ice pack application since last ten days. What should I do?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are around 51 years of age, and pain is towards inner knee aspect. Anyway is it possible for you to send me a clinical picture of your knee and an x ray if you have already done it? also tell me whether there is any associated swelling, skin redness or local warmth over the skin? what medicines do you generally take for other conditions? my advice to you till the time I can see your investigations and image is - continue with ice packs - limb elevation at night - if possible, use a brace for mobilization - take an anti-inflammatory medication for 5-7 days as per your body's suitability please let me know with image and x rays. A regular healthy diet and an active lifestyle are very crucial for reducing belly fat. Sleep is also very important. You must get at least 6-7 hours of sound sleep. Lack of sleep and irregular meals cause belly fat to accumulate.

Apart from taking symptomatic treatment Avoid spicy food in your diet and Also avoid peanuts and potatoes in your diet and eat only curd rice or khichdi for few days and drink only boiled water

Hello lybrate user- oligo mennhorea or less flow during menses might occur due to two causes, first if you have developed anaemia (low hb count) or you have experienced sudden gain in your weight. Try these tips- a) avoid fast food and spicy diet an increase dairy products in diet. B) eat diet prescribed for indians that is dal-chawal-sabji and roti, do not try to follow western routine by reading some article on magazine or internet. C) sleep at least 8-10 hours daily. D) use these ayurvedic medicines- shatavari kalpa 1 tsp twice daily with 1/2 cup milk. Abra loha1 tab twice dadimadi ghrita1 tsp in the morning empty stomach use sheer bala tail daily body massage for 15 minutes.

It is essential to control blood glucose very strictly similarly BP also should be controlled. Fasting blood glucose should be closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c%<6.8. In addition there has to be a strict diet control and daily exercise of 1 hour plus. Also avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk food, pastries and bakery items, sweetened aerated drinks, red meat, alcohol and smoking. To reduce abdominal fat abdominal exercise and skipping, brisk walking or jogging should be done. This lifestyle has to be constantly maintained. There is no short cut. Thanks.

Applying​ oil in scalp is the major cause of hair loss, At any cost if you Apply oil in scalp, it can be removed with Reetha and Amla. Also you can use lemon juice alternatively.

For regaining cheeks few diet tips - not to eat fried food items and can eat all green vegetables, moong, chana, dal, rice etc and to apply ghee over chappati and don't apply oil over chappati and to drink milk mixed with turmeric powder twice a day and if possible eat eggs on alternate days and if possible in breakfast eat atleast one bajra ka rotla and eat seasonal fruit.

As lichen planus is an auto immune disease hence we can control it but not totally cure it and avoid any triggering factor, take folic acid regularly, eat a healthy diet, always be stress free, exercise regularly.

I had a lower back injury since last 6 months for which I have been doing exercises told by physio but them it's been almost 6 months now the pain is vanishing very slowly slow than I expected and sometimes I feel a pinched sensation and little pain still sometimes maybe because of my daily activities is there anything to be worried will it cure automatically by resting and exercises or there might be some serious issue as sometimes the pain is still there towards left side from the center of lower back please help thanks I got the x ray done but the ortho said only to take rest and gave me an ointment to apply on back but it's been 6 months and pain is still there though little but there.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

I am struggling with weight loss. I have lost over 40 kgs in the past 5 years but I have stagnated for over 1.6 years. I have boarder line thyroid and I am on 25 mg medication for the same. Have banana smoothy with sugar for atleast. Two months to gain weight. Take 10 almonds and soak it overnight peel off the cover and beat it with 40 grams of butter and ten gram sugar apply the paste on chappati or bread and eat it with milk atleast for three months. Do not take junk food. Drinking full cream milk with sugar is also useful.
