Hello. Sudden gum pain can be caused if something sharp had pricked on your gums. If not it can be due to pocket ie food lodgment in gums. You need scaling and local drug delivery to that particular gum region.

Irregular brushing technique with a worn off brush will certainly cause the tooth abrasion, gums to recede & thereby resulting in root exposure. Exposure of (dentin or cementum) layer of the tooth or trauma to the root nerve tissue causes Sensitivity. Adv cleaning and artificial enamel filling Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. •If your cavity in the tooth is caused by decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection.

Ice cream to be taken half an hour post tooth removal

Ice cream to be taken half an hour post tooth removal
Ice cream to be taken half an hour post tooth removal. Intake of ice cream or cold beverage makes the smaller blood vessels shrink thereby reducing bleeding at the extracted tooth socket.
External application of cold also aids in the same phenomenon.

Detailed description on Tooth decay

Hi I'm Dr. Vikash, an Endodontist and Senior Consultant at Ethical Dental and Health Care, Sector-1004, Noida. Today I'm going to discuss about the most common disease in the world, that is Tooth Decay.

Inside everyone's mouth there is a war going on. Our tooth is under attack by various bacterias. These bacterias grow a layer called plaque. It is an invisible battle because bacterias are of same color as our tooth and they hide in hard to reach areas of our mouth like gum line and between tooth. Plaque bacteria attack on sugary tooth. They turn sugar into acid and acid into enamel. This is where our body fights back thanks to saliva. Saliva is full of minerals that replaces the tooth structures dissolved away by plaque acids. It takes about 20mins for the minerals to get back in balance after a meal. But if more minerals are taken away than replaced then enamel collapses and bacteria can get into tissue below. This causes cavity and the tooth is in trouble.

Bacteria will start rotting the dent in the enamel causing tooth decay. WHen decay hits sensitive area you get tooth decay. By now enamel is completely undermined. Although only a dentist can remove bacteria from cavity but you can play your own part in the battle. If you cut off in between meal snacks and regularly remove bacterias with brush and floss, then by this you will be helping your body win the war against tooth decay.

For more information about dental problems you can contact me on Lybrate or walk into my dental clinic, Ethical Dental and Health Care, Sector-1004, Noida.

Munching foods like apples, pears, carrots or celery after brushing can help in preventing discoloration as they trigger tooth-bathing saliva which helps in keeping the teeth whiter.

You need bleaching and poloishing. And after that, maintain it by brushing twice daily and rinse your mouth after each meal. Floss your tooth to prevent food impaction. Avoid food that cause stains like excess of tea and coffee, chocolates, tobacco products, pan, gutka, alcohol and smoking.

Root canal treatment has to be done in teeth which is problemetic by means of symptoms and also some times without symptoms but cause should be there. Some time whole mouth required root canal treatment in full mouth rehab cases though there is no problem in teeth.

How Much Pain Will I Have After a Root Canal and When Should I Seek Help?

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
How Much Pain Will I Have After a Root Canal and When Should I Seek Help?

Highlights

  • Pain from a root canal is usually mild.
  •  In most cases you should be able to manage it with over-the-counter pain medications, like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol).

A root canal is a major procedure, so pain after a root canal is normal. A root canal involves deep cleaning inside the canals (the inner chamber of the root) of your tooth, which can in turn irritate surrounding nerves and gums.

The pain shouldn’t last forever. In fact, a root canal is meant to help you avoid pain related to a decaying or fractured tooth. It’s normal to experience mild to moderate pain for a few days after a root canal. Any pain beyond this point may warrant additional cleaning of the canals or other procedures.

Initial recovery period

In the past, root canals were extremely painful. This is one reason why people sometimes avoided such procedures. Dentists now have pain-relieving measures that can be used to reduce the amount of pain you experience during the procedure.

Before the process begins, dentist will apply a local anesthetic that minimizes pain. You might still feel pressure during the cleaning, but you shouldn’t be in pain during the actual procedure.

As the local anesthetic wears off after the root canal, you might experience mild pain and sensitivity. This is related to the cleaning process. During the cleaning process, your dentist makes a small opening in the crown of the tooth and cleans out diseased pulp inside the pulp chamber of the tooth. While uncomfortable, any pain and sensitivity following a root canal should only last a few days.

Since the pain experienced after a root canal is usually mild, you’ll likely only need over-the-counter pain medications for relief.

You should also avoid chewing hard foods immediately following the root canal, as this can induce more pain.

When to seek help

Root canal pain should decrease over time. If you still experience pain or swelling, you should see your dentist. Most people need one to two sessions for a root canal to be successful. In severe cases, you may need more cleaning sessions.

Recurring pain could be an indicator of this.Your symptoms should ease up if you’re taking any over-the-counter pain medications. If they don’t, your doctor may recommend prescription-strength ibuprofen or narcotic pain relievers. These are only taken on a temporary basis.

Once your tooth is completely treated, your dentist may put a crown on top of it. These can be made of metal, porcelain, or gold. The idea here is to prevent future damage to an already delicate tooth. Sometimes pain is a temporary side effect as you get used to a newly placed crown.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Pain beyond a root canal should be addressed with your dentist. Beyond taking medications temporarily, there are other things you can do to manage pain from a root canal.

Taking care of your teeth is a must, and you should avoid hard and crunchy foods until your pain improves. Quitting smoking can also help.
