Hi! The best way to get your skin glowing is to increase oxygen circulation in your body with the help of exercises, yoga. Taking break between hectic work schedule and splashing your face with cold water 2-3 times a day is helpful. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Have a balanced diet, eat more iron and zinc containing foods like dates, nuts and dry fruits. Include Skimmed milk, cottage cheese, lentils in diet. Vitamin C, Zinc and Vitamin B are important nutrients for great skin. So include lot of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your daily diet. Pimples or acne is caused when Hair follicles in your skin gets clogged due to oil, dirt, bacteria or dead skin. Acne generally occurs in people with oily skin but other factors like dead skin, dirt, pollution or hormonal imbalance can also cause acne in people with normal skin. Acne can be reduced or controlled by including some habits in your daily life style. 1. Keep your skin clean – Wash your face daily with an oil control face wash. You can also use a good AHA glow face wash that not only controls oil but also removes dead skin and bacteria. You can also use Tea Tree face wash 2 times a day. By shedding the old dead skin, your skin feels rejuvenated and clean. Apply a good toner, like tea tree toner after washing your face. After toning, apply an oil free and non- comedogenic cream on face. Last but not the least, apply a good sunscreen with minimum 30 spf daily. 1.Face packs – Occasionally apply good oil controlling face packs. Multani mitti + Lemon + yogurt is a good face packs for oily skin beauties. You can apply organic apple cider for 5 minutes after washing your face to kill the bacteria that clogs your pores. Green Tea can also be used as a toner once a day. 2.Diet – Most important thing is diet. Eat fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables daily. Reduce junk food intake, colas, alcohol and soda and consume whole grains. Keeping your digestive system healthy keeps your body and blood toxins free. Drink green tea, lemon juice, orange juice and food items containing Vitamin C as it is responsible for maintaining good skin health. Drink at least 10 glasses of water every day. 3.Exercise – Exercises, yoga, suryanamaskar improves the blood circulation and balances hormones. They keep skin healthy and boost body’s immunity to deal with several issues and not just acne. Include it in your daily regime.

For Athletes - 5 Ways to Prevent Skin Conditions

5 Ways to prevent skin conditions in athletes

Given their nature of work, athletes are at an increased risk of acquiring skin infections. These infections can lead to serious consequences if they are left untreated.

Here are 5 ways in which skin conditions in athletes can be prevented.

1. Keeping the bruises clean and covered -
It is important for you to keep the cuts and scrapes clean as well as covered with bandages until they heal because such openings in the skin weaken its defence against germs and increase the possibility of infections.

2. Taking care of the blisters - Make sure that you prevent blisters as much as you can because they make your skin susceptible to infections. Use gels, sprays, ice pads etc. and try to avoid getting sunburnt to prevent dangerous skin conditions.

3. Be mindful of what you wear - It is important for athletes to wear moisture-wicking clothes because sweat, if not made to dry, can lead to growth of germs that can cause a number of skin diseases and infections. Also, not wearing foot wear outside the field can lead to infections on the feet.

4. Maintaining good hygiene - Take a shower after every practice session and game using an antimicrobial soap. Besides, use a clean towel and avoid sharing your personal care items like razor, soap etc. with other athletes. This is extremely important in order to reduce the risk of bacterial infection.

5. Disinfect all your equipment and go for skin checkups - Make sure that you disinfect all your equipment like the protective gear, gloves, socks etc. after every use. Also, get regular skin checkups done, especially if you are associated with high-risk sports like wrestling, boxing etc. There is an increased possibility of skin injuries, sores, swelling etc. in athletes associated with such sports, which exposes them to a greater risk of skin conditions. So, disinfection and clinical checkups on a regular basis become all the more important for them. Ensure that you never use sandpaper or bleach simply to pass a skin check up.

Reasons for cracks: Pressure and frequent movements Standing for a long time hange in walking posture Summer heat Over or constant indulgence in water Unhygienic circumstances or conditions Unhealthy, dry scaly skin due to climate or diseases Thick dry scaly skin with loss of elasticity due to ageing – cracks have higher incidence over age Deformity of foot due to congenital problem or injury or diseases – Flat foot, calcaneal spurs, etc Diseases like diabetes, eczema and psoriasis can also contribute to cracked feet Deficiency of vitamins, minerals and zinc Obese (everyone can notice cracks on an elephant’s foot due to overweight and dryness)  Caring for skin Keep soles clean Wear soft, cushioned, comfortable shoes or slippers Wear socks to prevent friction Apply oil, if there is dryness Take rich sources of vitamins – fruits, dates, leafy vegetables etc. Avoid Walking bare foot Tight shoes Standing for a long time in water Contact of bleaching powder or any other chemical Using strong chemical soaps. Use Schwabe's B & T - Calendula and Aloe Vera Cream on your heels and hands. Keep yourself hydrated well, drink plenty of water. Never rub the area vigorously ever, any kind of friction increased the dryness.

She is having breast pain for the past few days. She got her xray and sonography done. But yet doctors find nothing wrong. Is there any way to cure her.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Breast pain or mastalgia is a common problem at this age especially before periods. This is usually due to hormonal changes and is mostly self limiting. Some measures like using proper fitting sports bra, hot fomentation, analgesics, vitamin e supplement, primosa etc help.

Hello I have small white spot inside my cheeks both side front of my lower teeth it's non painful I don't know what it is. It's just looking like small white dot in red skin both side. Thanks Advance for your help.

Hello
I have small white spot inside my cheeks both side front of my lower teeth it's non painful
I don't know what ...
If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Hello, white spots on the face can be due to sun allergy or sensitive skin. However, as you are complaining of the spot for a longer duration, nevi and leprosy should also be ruled out. Please consult a dermatologist so that some skin tests can be done such as skin biopsy and slit skin smear and the exact nature of the spot can be assessed.

Hi lybrate-user, changing your face wash will not do much help to improve acne and spots. If your skin is acne prone, you will tend to develop dark spots too. Both conditions can be well treated. Ointments for acne work well along with skin lightning creams. For long term benefits peels or dermaroller treatment is highly recommended. These help both conditions acne and spots. I would be happy to help you.
