Permanent Tattoo Removal - Know Its Risks And Side-Effects!

Permanent Tattoo Removal - Know Its Risks And Side-Effects!

A tattoo has a strong emotional association with the person having it. Commonly it is the loved ones name, idols, quotes or just anything that a person feels connected to. However, over time, it may happen that the tattoo may not hold the same relevance as it used to once upon a time. It could also lose the esthetic appeal it once held. Whatever the reason, the tattoo needs to go. While tattoos were considered something permanent, there are now ways to remove it.

While the earlier methods were crude including removing the tattooed skin and grafting new skin, sanding the area, or dermabrasion; but today with the use of laser, the process has become much simpler and convenient. Laser is now the most widely used method of removing the tattoo.

A thorough evaluation to see the extent of the tattoo, in terms of depth, size and colors, is done before planning its removal. The type, strength and sessions of lasers will depend on these factors.

During the removal, the tattooed area is focused with a handheld device that emits laser light of the desired frequency and strength. This removes the colored pigments of the tattoo without affecting the surrounding skin. Different wavelengths of light are used to remove different pigments, which get broken down. These pigments are then washed out from the body as wastes.

Depending on the size and colors used in the tattoo, more than one sitting may be required. For large ones, up to 6 to 8 months may be required for complete removal. A minimum of 4 weeks gap is required between two sittings, allowing sufficient time for the skin to heal.

Professional vs Amateur Tattoos-

Professional applied tattoos penetrate deeper into the skin at uniform levels which can make it easier to treat, but not always, as the ink is usually more dense. Amateur tattoos are often applied with an uneven hand which can make the removal challenging but overall they are easier to remove.

Risks and Side Effects:

There are a handful of symptoms you might see post-treatment. Among them are blisters, swelling, raising of the tattoo, pinpoint bleeding, redness, and/or temporary darkening. Not to worry, though. These are common and usually subside within one to two weeks. If they don't, talk to your doctor.

  1. The way getting tattoo caused some pain, the removal will also cause some pain. Topical or local anaesthesia is used to make it comfortable.

  2. Not just the tattoo pigment but also some of the natural skin pigment is lost, so the skin can become lighter or darker than the surrounding skin.

  3. In some cases, there could be some scarring. The scar will get better and can be treated after tattoo laser sessions.

So, if you thought a tattoo is forever, it is not so. Go ahead and plan for its removal, of course after understanding what it entails. If there is any tattoo on your body which you no longer like, meet your dermatologist for consultation and then laser to make that undesired ink fade!! In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

For patients who are unco-operative for psychiatric medications, long acting depot injections are available which can be given under the supervision og a psychiatrist. This helps to maintain the appropriate medication levels in the body of the patient so that he or she does not relapse due to non complinace.

I am having dark circles. How can I completely remove them and have a good eye sight as well.

I am having dark circles. How can I completely remove them and have a good eye sight as well.
Grate one or two raw potatoes to extract the juice. Soak a cotton ball in the juice and place it over your closed eyes. Make sure the juice covers the dark circles under your eyes as well as the eyelids. Allow the juice to sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse your eyelids well with cool water. Repeat once or twice daily for a few weeks. Instead of potato juice, you can also use thick potato slices to remove dark circles. It is necessary to improve the circulation to our eyes and the optic nerves to keep them healthy, as they are constantly at work. Here’s what you can do to improve eyesight naturally: 1.Stimulate your eye muscles -- On waking up, wash your face with water (preferably cool or a little cold water). Then fill your mouth with water, close your eyes and splash cold water onto your eyes. It stimulates the muscles of the eyes, due to the pressure exerted by the water filled in your mouth. 2.Wash your eyes 3.Massage over worked eyes -- Hold your eyebrows between your thumb and index finger, in such a way that the thumb is above the eyebrow and index finger below. Now, gently press and straighten your eyebrows, exerting gentle pressure on all the points. Then, take your thumb and gently roll it around your eye ball, i.e: along your eye socket. Do this exercise every three to four hours to improve the circulation around your eyes. This exercise improves circulation around the eyes helping them bounce back from the fatigue of constantly looking at a computer screen. 4.Exercise to improve eyesight -- This exercise is done to stimulate the muscles around your eye balls (that are present within the eye socket). Rotate your eyeballs, first to the right and left, then upwards and downwards. Do this in the clockwise and anti-clockwise direction for about three to four repetitions. 5. Give your eyes some much needed rest -- rub the palms of both your hands for 30 seconds – till you feel warm between the two palms – then place them gently over the eyes. Hold this position for about one minute or till the heat decreases. Slowly open your eyes. Beware not to look directly at bright light after this; allow your eyes to gradually acclimatize to the change in the environment. 6. Bat those eyelids -- Blinking is the eyes natural way to renew the moisture in the eyes and give it some much needed relief. To help your eyes relax, make it a habit to blink after every five to six seconds. 7.Sound sleep is very essential -- It not only allows your body to heal and rest, it also gives your eyes much needed relief from bright lights and strain. Sleeping also is a time your body repairs itself, so getting enough time to nap helps the renewal process in the body, especially in the eyes. 8.Diet for healthy, stress free eyes -- Dry fruits and nuts, Carrot and Amla, Copper-rich foods, Vitamin A-rich foods, Non-vegetarian foods. Consult online for more tips and treatment.

Hi, thanks for the query. When it comes to weight/ fat loss it's all about being sensible with food. Eat small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise whenever possible. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips.

I got mouth ulcer I used also oral medication but resolved. Please tell me permanent solution for ulcer?
Mouth ulcers mouth ulcers can vary is size, shape and number. Mouth ulcers are self limiting, which means they heal naturally by themselves. The medications are only to ease the pain and burning sensation during the course of the healing. Please do not self prescribe any medications as it might at times delay the healing of the ulcer. Please visit the dentist to know exactly the type of the ulcer and its treatment. To ease the pain you cud by a topical anaesthetic gel and apply it before eating anything spicy. Try to reduce the stress, avoid long exposure to sunlight, avoid carbonated drinks and citrus fruits and juices containing citric acid, avoid lemon with food and keep urself hydrated.
