I want know about Neuroendocrine tumors.

MS ( General Surgery)
Oncologist,
Neuroendocrine tumors (nets) are neoplasms that arise from cells of the endocrine (hormonal) and nervous systems. Many are benign, while some are malignant. They most commonly occur in the intestine, where they are often called carcinoid tumors, but they are also found in the pancreas, lung and the rest of the body. Although there are many kinds of nets, they are treated as a group of tissue because the cells of these neoplasms share common features, such as looking similar, having special secretory granules, and often producing biogenic amines and polypeptide hormones.

Hi one of the simplest and most effective ways to induce sleep is to rub some oil on the scalp and the soles of the feet before going to bed. Use sesame oil, brahmi oil, jasmine oil, or coconut oil and massage gently for a few minutes. Slightly warming the oil before applying is helpful. N.

My mom was affected with SAH and later got affected by vasospasm. Right side is paralysed. Latest CT report shows that there is a hydrocephalus formation. Doctor is advising for a surgery. My Question is that we do not have a reclining bed at home and we are giving food through a rayls tube and she is always lying down even when we are feeding her. Does this affect in any way?

PGD Maternal Child Health, MBBS
General Physician, Akola
Hydrocephalus may need a shunt procedure to keep intracranial pressure normal. Continuously in bed may cause bed sores and bladder infection if regular posture changing is not attended. If her bladder is catheterized, outer urine bag emptying should be done properly so that urine from bag does not return through catheter in to the urinary bladder. Apply talcum powder to the back and keep the skin dry, especially in these days of summer.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist,
Get your thyroid profile done. It may be due to anxiety/hyperthyroidism/neurological illness/alcohol withdrawal. Stop alcohol if taking. If you remain worrying most of the time and can not relax then may be suffering from anxiety. Due to anxiety tremors of hand excessive sweating, increased heart beat, dryness of mouth etc can happen.

Can Alzheimer be treated as my father is suffering from it.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist,
No. But manageable. It can be treated with drugs so that there is symptomatic relief and quality of life can be improved. This disease is a degenerative one, which once starts gradually progresses over a period of time. Taking treatment in adequate dosage will delay severe disability. Associated symptoms like depression and intellectual deterioration can be largely treated.

Dear, some of the behaviors you have described fall into the category of psychotic symptoms. This means your suspiciousness towards your wife and son, the sounds/music that you hear, and other similar behaviors where you doubt intentions of other people - these behaviors indicate that you are displaying symptoms of schizophrenia. However, you also mentioned feelings of worry, anxiety, anger and guilt. These emotional symptoms are making your condition worse and they are also maintaining psychotic symptoms because during these peaks of nervousness, your voice hearing increases. This is leading to a never ending chain of severity. Generally these symptoms of suspiciousness and doubt develop due to lack of social skills and poor reasoning ability. You may be facing difficulties in knowing intentions of others towards you. You do not trust others in general. You are not able to develop attachment with others easily. This may have been present since your childhood. You feel left out and believe nobody cares for you. Feelings of guilt and rejection are some of the signs why you have got these symptoms. You also mention some poor concentration at work and day to day life. This is also common in schizophrenia. You need to consult a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist to relieve these symptoms. Please consult some specialist as soon as possible to prevent your condition from getting worse.
