high cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take green veg., whole grain. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

7 Tips To Prevent Chronic Acne

MBBS, MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy

7 Tips To Prevent Chronic Acne

Acne is a very common condition that usually affects people within the age group of 12-25 years. When it comes to the sexes, girls are more prone to acne as compared to girls. It usually occurs in the face, but may also affect the chest, neck and the back.

In order to understand how acne occurs, you need to know about the sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands are located under the skin, which produce sebum. The sebum comes up on the skin through the pores present on your skin. When these pores get clogged due to dead cells or other impurities, the sebum’s passage gets blocked. Once the bacteria come in contact with it, inflammation occurs, resulting in acne. Now that you know how acne occurs, you can take steps to prevent it. Here are a few strategies to deal with acne –

  1. Keep Your Skin Clean: You know that pores get blocked by impurities and dead cells, which means your face should be kept clean at all times. Use a mild soap or cleanser to clean your face daily, avoid over cleansing as it may lead to irritation. Use lukewarm water as it helps open your pores and clean them effectively.

  2. Keep Your Skin Moisturized: It is a common misconception that oily skin does not require moisturizing. The idea is to moisturize the skin using moisturizers that are water based as they do not aggravate the problem of an already oily skin.

  3. Do Not Make-up: Do not use much make-up if you are prone to acne; applying foundation and blush can aggravate the problem. If you must use cosmetics, make sure they are oil free. Cosmetics labeled ‘non -comedogenic’ are the safer varieties as they neither cause acne nor aggravate the condition.

  4. Avoid the Menace about Hair Products: Gels and oils when used on the hair can travel to your skin and block the pores, causing irritation to the skin.

  5. Avoid Stress: Stress is known to cause changes in the body’s chemical balances which can trigger acne. Get into the habit of practicing relaxation techniques such as meditation to manage and lower stress levels.

  6. Eat Healthy: Foods rich in processed sugar such as chocolates and cakes are known to trigger acne; hence the simple tip is to avoid them. Opt for healthy vegetables which can meet your daily requirements of Vitamins and minerals in order to keep your skin healthy.

  7. Exercise on a Regular Basis: Doing cardiovascular exercises on a regular basis helps in improving blood circulation and preventing acne and other skin conditions. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dermatologist.

What medications are best for the treatment of asthma? What are their side effects?

M.D - Respiratory medicine
Pulmonologist, Hyderabad
Dear lybrate-user best medications are by inhaler since they're in minute microgram doses. How long and how much is best determined by a pulmonologists after methodical assessment by clinical, x-ray and spirometry. Two types are ideally used bythe international guidelines. One which controls the disease in long term while the other relieves the symptom. Medicines that control are very important and symptom reliever is required only when symptoms severe. Combination inhalers contain both. Most patients think they are habit forming which is incorrect. Chronic asthma impairs our lifestyle and efficiency at work. Control and prevent asthma should be the goal. Very few side effects such as tremor of hands, and fast heart rate happen when taken in higher doses or in tablet or syrup or injection.

All time best home remedy to remove dandruff quickly and effectively with fenugreek seeds. Soak 2 tsp of fenugreek (methi) seeds in water overnight. Grind methi seeds into a fine paste the next morning. Apply this paste on the scalp, leave for half an hour and wash off. You can add the lemon juice or curd to the fenugreek paste also. Do not throw the water in which fenugreek seeds were soaked. Use this water as an after-shower hair tonic or last rinse. Follow the regime once in a week. Aloe vera is a wonderful plant that is available right at your kitchen garden. You have to pluck a leaf, cut it from the middle and extract the gel from there. Apply aloe vera gel to your scalp and hair before hair wash. It is very effective in treating dandruff & itchy oily scalp. You can also get a soothing touch over your scalp along with eradication of dandruff. Use 2-4 days old curd to do this. All you need to do is apply this curd on to your scalp and hair. Wash off after 20 minutes.

Ill take the opportunity to educate you so I will be little lengthy, here it goes. Eating nuts as part of a healthy diet may be good for your heart. Nuts contain unsaturated fatty acids and other nutrients. And they're a great snack food — inexpensive, easy to store and easy to pack when you're on the go. One drawback to nuts is that they're high in calories, so it's important to limit portions. But choosing nuts instead of a less healthy snack may just help you stick to a heart-healthy diet. Although a great deal of research suggests that nuts can benefit heart health and reduce the risks of dying early from heart disease and other causes, the evidence is still inconclusive. But, unless you're allergic to nuts, there's no real danger in eating nuts, so you can certainly include nuts as part of your heart-healthy diet. One way nuts may help your heart health is by lowering the low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad") cholesterol levels. LDL plays a major role in the development of plaque that builds up on the blood vessels. Eating more nuts has also been linked to lower levels of inflammation linked to heart disease. Eating nuts may also reduce your risk of developing blood clots that can cause a fatal heart attack. Nuts also appear to improve the health of the lining of your arteries. Besides being packed with protein, most nuts contain at least some of these heart-healthy substances: Unsaturated fats. It's not entirely clear why, but it's thought that the "good" fats in nuts — both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats — lower bad cholesterol levels. Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in many kinds of fish, but many nuts are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s are a healthy form of fatty acids that seem to help your heart by, among other things, preventing dangerous heart rhythms that can lead to heart attacks. Fiber. All nuts contain fiber, which helps lower your cholesterol. Fiber makes you feel full, so you eat less. Fiber is also thought to play a role in preventing type 2 diabetes. Vitamin E. Vitamin E may help stop the development of plaques in your arteries, which can narrow them. Plaque development in your arteries can lead to chest pain, coronary artery disease or a heart attack. Plant sterols. Some nuts contain plant sterols, a substance that can help lower your cholesterol. Plant sterols are often added to products like margarine and orange juice for additional health benefits, but sterols occur naturally in nuts. L-arginine. Nuts are also a source of l-arginine, which is a substance that may help improve the health of your artery walls by making them more flexible and less prone to blood clots that can block blood flow. As much as 80 percent of a nut is fat. Even though most of this fat is healthy fat, it's still a lot of calories. That's why you should eat nuts in moderation. Ideally, you should use nuts as a substitute for saturated fats, such as those found in meats, eggs and dairy products. Instead of eating foods with unhealthy saturated fats, try substituting a handful of nuts or a tablespoon or two of a nut spread. The American Heart Association recommends eating about four servings of unsalted nuts a week. Select raw or dry-roasted nuts rather than those cooked in oil. A serving is a small handful (1.5 ounces) of whole nuts or 2 tablespoons of nut butter. But again, do this as part of a heart-healthy diet. Just eating nuts and not cutting back on saturated fats found in many dairy and meat products won't do your heart any good. The type of nuts you choose to eat probably doesn't matter much. Most nuts appear to be generally healthy, though some may have more heart-healthy nutrients than others. For example, walnuts contain high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. Almonds, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts and pecans are other nuts that appear to be quite heart healthy. And peanuts — which are technically not a nut, but a legume, like beans — seem to be relatively healthy. Keep in mind, you could end up canceling out the heart-healthy benefits of nuts if they're covered with chocolate, sugar or salt. Here's some nutrition information on common types of nuts. All calorie and fat content measurements are for 1 ounce, or 28.4 grams (g), of unsalted nuts. Type of nutCaloriesTotal fat Almonds, dry-roasted17014.9 g Almonds, raw16414.2 g Brazil nuts, raw18719 g Cashews, dry-roasted16313.1 g Chestnuts, roasted690.6 g Hazelnuts (filberts), dry-roasted18317.7 g Hazelnuts (filberts), raw17817.2 g Macadamia nuts, dry-roasted20421.6 g Macadamia nuts, raw20421.5 g Peanuts, dry-roasted16614.1 g Pecans, dry-roasted20121.1 g Pistachios, dry-roasted16213 g Walnuts, halved18518.5 g Nut oils are also a good source of healthy nutrients, but they lack the fiber found in whole nuts. Walnut oil is the highest in omega-3s. Consider using nut oils in homemade salad dressing or in cooking. When cooking with nut oils, remember that they respond differently to heat than do vegetable oils. Nut oil, if overheated, can become bitter. Just like with nuts, use nut oil in moderation, as the oils are high in fat and calories.

I'm 24 year old I am having severe pimples in my face from last one year how to get rid of those pimples and marks.
These are the best methods to cure pimples fast -: • To control the sebum (oily) secretion you should maintain your hormonal level. Because imbalance in hormone level causes excessive sebum (oil) production and causes pimples. So do not take stress and do exercise daily such as running, jogging and long breathing exercises. • Use oil free face wash and drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. • Do not touch your pimple because your finger transfer bacteria to it and make it worse. If you touch it then clean your face with water. Touch your face very less. • you can use a face pack of fuller's earth (multani mitti) with rose water one time in a day for seven days. It removes toxins from skin and remove pimples.,• • Give Steam your face to open the pores, which in turn clear the skin. Steam your face for 3-5 minutes daily. • You can take 2 teaspoon of SAAFI SYRUP daily for 1 month for clear face. • Take 20 gm powder of Black pepper and 50 gm of Amla powder. Mix it and take 1/2 tea spoon of this mixed powder daily with luke warm water for 15 days for pimple free skin. • Take Vitamin-A rich diet & you can take Vitamin-A capsule of 25, 000 I. you. Only under the supervision of a doctor. • use a mild moisturiser for your skin only in winters..
