Hye, thanks for the query. Firstly it is important to understand that weight /fat loss involves sensible eating. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals. Reduce your main meals by 1/4th the amount. Take a glass of lime water 10 minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips.

Use mild face wash. Drink plenty of water. Avoid fast food. Do not touch face too much. It will increase pimples. Wash face with plain water 2 times a day. Do these to reduce pimples.

This is a very vital time and you will need some help from a counselor. I suspect that the adolescent issues with regard to hormones may be affecting your ability to concentrate and remember. When the hormones play up, it lasts for a period of close to two years and during that time you could be influenced by three signs directly impacted by the chemical: you will tend to become aggressive and rebellious, you will become sexually active, and you will have acne and pimple problems. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact your memory because of the chemical but also bring some distractions that come with it. But you may work on the following even if the hormones kick in: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem-solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning, at least, five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position, you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There is some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food. You may also include these noted foods that are good for your brain health: Brain-Friendly Foods MIND stands for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. But the MIND approach “specifically includes foods and nutrients that medical literature and data show to be good for the brain, such as berries,” says Martha Clare Morris, ScD, director of nutrition and nutritional epidemiology at Rush University Medical Center. You eat things from these 10 food groups: •Green leafy vegetables (like spinach and salad greens): At least six servings a week •Other vegetables: At least one a day •Nuts: Five servings a week •Berries: Two or more servings a week •Beans: At least three servings a week •Whole grains: Three or more servings a day •Fish: Once a week •Poultry (like chicken or turkey): Two times a week •Olive oil: Use it as your main cooking oil. •Wine: One glass a day You avoid: •Red meat: Less than four servings a week •Butter and margarine: Less than a tablespoon daily •Cheese: Less than one serving a week •Pastries and sweets: Less than five servings a week •Fried or fast food: Less than one serving a week.

Treatment for Hair Falling

Now a days many of my patients are complaining regarding their hair falling problem. So this hair falling problem will be depending on their body constitution. Generally the body as per the ayurvedic principle will be vataja, pittaja,  kaphaja type. So if pittaja constitution body is vitiated automatically due to heat generation in the body the hair falling is also one of the problem will arises in the body. So if the vitiated pitta is treated for prashamana (to bring normal condition) automatically the hair falling problem will be subsided. So being an ayurvedic super specialist doctor I am treating these hair falling problem to all my patients in india as well as in other countries also.

WELLNESS

Happy thoughts, happy minds. Read Hindu metroplus fortnightly thursday

Obesity is a state of mind body illness. As with all chronic medical conditions, effective management based on partnership between a highly motivated patient and a committed team of health proffesionals is the key to dealing with it. Obesity needs a strong mental wellness and behavioural control. This is about a 50-year-old sluggish lady suffering from weight gain, disturbed sleep and choking during sleep. To compound matters, her history of binge calorific eating caused rapid gain resulting in body mass index of 32. Obesity is pan endemic and responsible for all cardio respiratory, sleep and psychological disturbances. We create a positive mindset by cognitive behavioural therapy, a mental wellness by stimulus control techniques and non food rewards. Stimulus control involves changing the mindset towards food stimulus by positive thought insertion. Every thought has a stimulus, stimulus brings a perceptive change in mind and perception brings behavioural changes. Behavioural changes bring actions. Action involves sinful eating. We change the thought and we call it happy thoughts and happy mind. Normally it involves 12 sessions over a period of six weeks. Structured programme involves self monitoring of caloric intake and physical activity, goal setting, stimulus control, non food rewards and relapse prevention. Follow this structured protocol 1. Two glasses of water in the morning. 2. 30 minutes of brisk walking. 3. Ten minutes of breathing exercises. 4. Specific stretches using stretch bands. 5. Fifty abdominal crunches. 6. Rest and relaxation through the Corpus pose. 7. A cup of green tea. 8. Two atta roti, low carbohydrate high protein chapatti. The atta should have chana, millets, kuttu, bran, maize, fenugreek seeds. Green vegetable cooked in one tea spoon full oil (canola or olive oil) and one small bowl of homemade paneer. 9. Mid morning smoothie with tomato, amla, orange, gourd, guava, lemon, mint and ginger without water 10. One bowl bhuna chana pre lunch 11. Two diet fibre chapattis/ one bowl of parboiled rice, one small bowl of boiled mixed legumes, one small bowl yogurt and mint chutney 12. Evening, roasted snacks with green tea 13.15 minutes of chaotic breathing 14. Pre-dinner: vegetable soup 15. Dinner with baked beans/ fish/ lean meat/ soya chap with yogurt 16. Listen music and do OM chanting 17. Follow right pre-sleep habits 18. Sleep well. This lady lost ten kilograms in five months and became very alert and active in the day. Her sleep disordered breathing got corrected and in fact she lost 14 kgs with her motivation and self discipline.

I have a hair fall problem. My hairs are falling at a very fast pace. Please suggest some home remedy.
Hi. Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent (which is called as 'Hairloss' rather). In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, may be because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up, subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. (There are different pattern and types of hairloss, because of different reasons like Alopecia Areata, Telogen Effluvium, Scarring Alopecia, Traction Alopecia, etc.) Causes of hairloss: Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or male/ female pattern baldness - hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger, use of bore water, any other underlying diseases, etc. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc and Omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin) , different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Use Rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Medication: Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa Tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, take Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. (N.B.: With the help of homoeopathic medicines, we can only prevent further progress of the hairloss, means it will get arrests in the present condition in case of progressive baldness. But, in case there are areas of baldness which has gone smooth and shiny, you will have to choose an option of Hair Transplant along with theses medications!). Investigations advised: Get your blood tested for (empty stomach) - CBC, S. Iron, S. Folic acid, S. Ferritin, S. Calcium, S. Vitamin D3, S. Vitamin B12. If there is any family history of Thyroid dysfunction, get Thyroid function test done as well.

How An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away?

It is one of the most common expressions around, 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away'. As apples have properties that no other natural product or fruit has and its advantages have been demonstrated over time.
It is possible to get these benefits from different other fruits, however; an apple combines everything and makes it easier. It has been proved again and again that if it is not straightforward, simple and quick, individuals will not deal with their well-being. Hence, here is a very simple way to be healthy. This is how an apple tends to keep the doctor away:

  1. Apples contain Vitamin C: Vitamin C helps protect your immune system. Many individuals who need Vitamin C in their diet have poor healing and tend to get injured effortlessly. Apple contains vitamin C in abundance and hence, are of great help.
  2. Prevent heart diseases: The reason it can prevent both coronary illness and cardiovascular diseases is because apples are rich in flavonoid. Flavonoids are additionally known for their cancer prevention qualities.
  3. Low in calories: A normal sized apple has between seventy to hundred calories. Eating an apple when craving sweet or chocolate can make the craving vanish since apple itself contains sugar, yet gives you just one-quarter of the calories.
  4. Pectin: Pectin is a type of dissolvable fibre that brings down both pulse and glucose levels. It can likewise bring down the levels of LDL, which is the bad cholesterol in the body. Pectin, as different types of fibre, keeps up the strength of the digestive system. Apples are a fantastic source of pectin.
  5. Boron: A supplement found in abundance in apples, boron strengthens solid bones and a sound brain.
  6. Phenols: Apples contain phenols, which affect cholesterol. It decreases the bad cholesterol and builds up the good cholesterol. They keep LDL cholesterol from transforming into oxidised LDL, an extremely risky type of cholesterol, which can be destructive.
  7. Avoids tooth decay: Tooth decay is a contamination that truly harms the structure of your teeth, which is formed because of bacteria. The juice of the apples has properties that can kill up to eighty percent of those bacteria.
  8. Shields your brain from infection: This is something many individuals do not have the foggiest idea about. When you consider that your brain makes you the person you are, it gives you a rational point of view. Apple has substances called phytonutrients and these phytonutrients prevent neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinsonis.
  9. Healthier lungs: People who eat five apples or more every week have brought down their respiratory problems like asthma.
  10. Forestall Cancer: Cancer tends to form in different areas and organs of the body and spreads later on. Apples focus on different tumours, for example, colon growth, prostate disease and breast cancer in ladies. Hence, its positive effects are not just limited to one type of cancer.

So grab an apple right away! If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

I have stress and pressure due to this my weight is getting loss and heavy headache regularly. My age is 51.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

I have stress and pressure due to this my weight is getting loss and heavy headache regularly. My age is 51.
Because of your age I am assuming a lot of your stress is work related. The stress that you feel is not dependent on the stressor: It is entirely dependent on your perception of stress. Change your perception, there is no stress: it’s like looking at a glass half full or half empty. Life is difficult no doubt, as a general rule, but what we do adds to the stress in our response. We add to the stress of life instead of reducing it or learning to deal with it. Many of us follow a policy of avoidance. We cannot do that all of our lives. So the first thing to do is to change your perception. For example, look at it as a challenge that you would like to meet with a positive outlook. See everything as a gift from God to perform as though you are doing it for Him. God never gives us work to do beyond our capacity. Build a good constitution mentally, emotionally and physically to combat stress. Eat healthily, sleep well, and exercise regularly. Talk about your emotions regularly to a good friend every day. I suspect that anger is a good part of yoru emotional problem. Learn stress management techniques, which is all about expressing your feelings in appropriate ways. Do Yoga and meditation. Pray every day to God to give you the strength, and offer your work as a prayer to Him – you will give your best and you will feel so satisfied when you do it well. At work you must learn to delegate much or some of your work to subordinates. If you do not trust, you will find it difficult to delegate. You need to examine if your work is too stressful for various reasons. It is the one place you will be spending the greatest part of your awake life, more than even with your family! This being the case any stress there can take a severe toll: the stress in the work is mostly related to relationships. We are always into relationships and you need to find a very amicable way to interact with people. You cannot avoid people all your life: no man is an island! If it is people related, you will need to examine whether you are the cause or others the cause. If it has to do with workload, then you will need to discuss that with your colleagues first and if they think you are justified, then you will have to take it to the immediate boss. If it is injustice in the work spot, you will need to discuss it with the HR department. If you feel that you are doing more than you can manage or are qualified for, again you can consult the HR department. If you are emotionally distraught, then there may be some work for you to do with a counselor. This is where stress is mostly felt. When you do not express feelings you will land up with stress. Check what feelings you are not dealing with and then tackle that to find relief which is a permanent solution. To resolve it you need to deal with the unexpressed feelings which may have become a habit from childhood. Meet with a counselor and that person will help you process your feelings and find ways to express them once and for all and give you permanent relief. You will see an immediate change for the better.

If your hair is genetically thin and fine only a little improvement can be brought about with diet and medicines. If you have recently developed the thinness it can be because of hormonal reasons, illness, nutritional etc. Wait for two months for the hair to grow. If they don't improve consult a dermatologist.
