I am 46 years of age. I have a complain of lower backache and left leg. I can't sit long even half an hour. Please advice.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned low back pain with radiating pain in legs which is an indication that there is a nerve compression in spine. Also mention whether there are any other neurological symptoms in legs like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc also present? I will require: - a detailed neurological charting of lower limbs (motor, sensory and evaluation of deep reflexes) preferable done by an experienced doctor or a physical therapist - dynamic x ray of your involved region of spine done - mri ls spine meanwhile you should continue with: to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you, also medications for neuropathic symptoms like tab pregabalin or tab gabapentin can be added in small doses for relief of leg symptoms - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Fracture is a medical emergency.It can't be treated on line. Kindly go to a hospital. For pain you may take : Paracetamol 250 mg SOS.

We are not very sure. However for asthma for asthma problem you can do deep breathing exercies which will definitely be helpful for you. And also do breathing exercises in the east corner of the house where you get more energy as it is in the sun rising side.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For emergency treatment contacts your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem. Kidney stones also can cause low backache. Consult a urologist as well.

It was vitamin D supplement. Due to oil based liquid some personal may feel painful. It was not to worry about it. Apply ice pack, or pain might subside on its own.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily .Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. .Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana ? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Use wheel chair for protect your spine and pelvic. And walker also and tk physiotherapy treatment for muscle relaxation and relief then you can start same before but major problem is double weight on a leg.

: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

This treatment is being suggested on bases of the information provided. I would like to examine & investigate you in detail. Any way it may be tried, --. Dolokind Plus (Mankind) [Aceclofenac 100 mg +Paracetamol 350 mg 1 tab. OD & SOS. X 5 days. --. Caldikind plus (Mankind) 1 tab OD x 10 days. (You may need help of your local doctor to get these medicines.)--. Fomentation with warm water. Avoid direct flow of AC or Cooler. --. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding. --. Use no pillow under the head. --. Avoid painful acts & activities. -- .Do mild exercises for Neck & shoulders. Do not ignore, let it not become beginning of a major problem. I am a 22 year old male. I met with an accident 2 months ago. I broke my forearm in two pieces. Both my radius and ulna bone were completely broken. My hand undergone ORIF surgery and my arm was put in a cast for 6 weeks. Its been 2 weeks since I removed the cast and I have difficulty in moving my wrist. Its looking very stiff even though its my forearm that was broken. My doctor suggested me some exercises but its still very painful and hard to do them. Can you help me to resolve this issue.

Yess lybrate-user. After forearm surgery as your forearm kept in cast for 6 wks. Surgery mostly nailing of both bone. Generally after surgery; forearm kept in cast. Don't worry of present wrists pain as it goes off slowly. As you start forearm exercise like flexion extension; supination and pronation. Your elbow function return back and pain will reduce accordingly. Continue calcium supplement 1 more moth. If wrist pain the more take analgesic.

I believe your words that nothing was found in scan. However better if you could get RA, ESR, uric acid blood test reports and send to me. It could be spondylosis, arthritis, Arthralgia of vertebral joints etc. Ayurveda explains it as 'Apaan Vayu' vitiation. However for the time being pl give him dashmool herb decoction, Panchakol herb decoction separately 20 ml each (warm) twice a day. Hot water bath after gentle massage by Mahavishgarbh oil and Mahavishgarbh oil mixed and heated a bit before applying. No bath for two hrs pl. Report after two weeks. For any clarification pl write back by consulting me.

Back pain can be due to prolong sitting and poor posture when sitting walking sleeping etc you need to consult a physiotherapist to learn specific strengthening and stretching exs to improve pain and prevent recurring. Gud luck!

Hi for shoulder apply ice fomentation for heel -do stretching of calf muscles, -wear proper footwear -try using a frozen bottle of water and gently rolling it under the arch and heel. Best wishes.

As I'm busy with laptops, I sit nearly more than 12 hours a day before my laptop. Is that cause any problem in future? I got back pain from the last couple of weeks. Dear lybrate user Prolong sitting or standing positions can affect pain or stiffness to back or neck.thats because of your body/ muscular system remains at same stage or resting stage. it (bones &muscles) gets good nutrition, oxygen as well as good circulation while they are in active stage.Position should be correct while working. you must add some activities as cycling, walking or running, etc.in routine. it will strengthen your body and speed up body metabolism too.you must take mini breaks while working and do simple stretch to muscles.
