Dear Doctor We have been married since last 2 years now & are planning for baby since 5-7 months. Once she was able to conceive 5 months ago but as the growth was not proper, it was aborted. My main concern is that whenever having sex with my wife most of the Sperms come outside due to which I think it is not penetrating in to conceive. Pls give us some solution on this. Thanks.

If you are having normal penetration there is no problem. Some amount of semen will come out. Sperms which are normal swim up the vagina and intercourse. Do a semen analysis to see for sperm count and motility.

Hello sir/ma'am, I am 22 years old. I am in a relationship for 2 years. We both are ready for physical intercourse. But we are afraid of unwanted pregnancy. What should we do to avoid this and continue our love.

MD - Homeopathy, BHMS
Homeopath, Vadodara
Best is use condoms. As the pills for avoiding pregnancy have many side effects. And if you love your partner then you may not want her to suffer that.

Plastic Bottles - Should They Be Reused?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Plastic Bottles - Should They Be Reused?

Earlier, when one stepped out, you automatically put a bottle of water into your bag. Today, carrying a bottle is often seen as an unnecessary hassle. Afterall, you can easily buy a bottle of water anywhere. When it comes to bottled water, most of us do not follow the use and throw concept. A plastic bottle is not seen as a container for water, but rather as a free gift that accompanies it. This bottle is taken home, refilled and put into the fridge. However, did you know that this practice could be harming you?

Not all plastic bottles are the same. When you buy a bottle of water, take a look at the bottom. You will notice a triangular recycling symbol with a number within it. This number ranges from 1 to 7 and speaks of how many times the bottle can be reused. Water bottles typically have the number 1 stamped on them. This is the manufacturer’s way of telling you that these bottles should be used only once and should not be refilled. Refillable plastic bottles usually are categorized as code 7. These may be refilled, but are not completely safe either.

Why are plastic bottles unsafe?
Plastic is ultimately a chemical compound. Many of their chemical ingredients can be harmful to human health. When plastic bottles are reused, these chemicals are leeched into the water and ingested by us. For example, plastic mineral water bottles contain antimony that may cause cancer. Similarly, refillable bottles may contain phthalates that can cause reproductive problems.
Plastic bottles are also difficult to clean and hence home to millions of bacteria. Putting a plastic bottle in the dishwasher could worsen the condition as it may cause chemicals to leak out of the bottle. Similarly, pouring hot liquid into a plastic bottle could lead to deterioration of the plastic and unwanted chemicals in the liquid.

The Alternative
Glass and copper bottles are much better ways of storing and carrying water. Glass is an inert material that will not affect the purity of water stored within it but may be prone to breakage. Copper is a natural metal that does interact with water but the mineral it adds to water can help improve a person’s health. These bottles may seem a little expensive in comparison to plastic bottles but in the long run are very cost effective. Think about it. Would you rather spend now and drink water in peace or save now and spend on doctor’s fees later? If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.

I am 21 years old, I recently was sexually active on the day of my ovulation. I took an Unwanted 72 the next night. After that, I was again into coitus and then, I took one more Unwanted 72 pill 2 days later. My period is late by 2 days, are there any chances of pregnancy? I am really very scared because ovulation week is considered the highest chance belt for pregnancy. Please kindly help me out.

The chances of pregnancy are minimal .But to be on the safer side you can do a urine pregnancy test 10 days after you cross the date of your period .Secondly if you are very active sexually better to start a regular birth control pills because taking emergency pills often is harmful to your body. Thirdly ask your partner to use condoms for dual protection as it will also protect you from sexually transmitted diseases.

Effective Tips and Types of Contraception

Here are some effective types of contraception

Hello everyone I am Dr. Meenu Goyal, a consultant obstetrician gynecologist at Goyal medical center Vasant Vihar. Today we are here to discuss about Contraception.

Choosing an optimal birth control depends on a variety of factors like your lifestyle, your age and your requirement. That is whether you want to space your pregnancy or you want to delay your pregnancy or you have completed your family and you want to just wind up with the family planning issues. Now if you are a young girl and you don't want to think about the pregnancy in the near future you can easily use the birth Control pills. They are the best measure for you.

The newer alternatives are not easily available in India. But the birth control pills cannot be used in a breastfeeding mother because it interferes with the breast milk so at that time the injection depo provera is a good solution for the nursing mothers. As it also helps in delaying pregnancy intrauterine devices with or without hormones is also a good alternative for a long duration of delaying of pregnancy. In India people normally don't want to discuss about the contraceptive measures that is why it is not being commonly used also its surrounded by lots and lots of myths but if you choose it correctly and wisely it helps you a lot.

If you want to discuss about this issue you can visit your nearest gynecologist or you can meet me at the Goyal's Medical Center, Vasant Vihar. You can also chat with me or text me or make a video call with me at lybrate.com. Thank you.

Maximum chance is mid-cycle if you have regular 28-30 days cycles. Minimum is during your periods. However I would advice you to use a regular contraception if you want to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

Tip for Improving Skin Health

It is very important to keep the essential oils of your skin intact. Use warm water for bathing to preserve those oils because hot water will make your skin devoid of those oils and leave it dry.
