I have bleeding in my teeth. Tell what to do?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist,
I have bleeding in my teeth. Tell what to do?
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I drink lots of water, brush twice a day.. Vegetarian.. My problem is I have a very bad breath.. Starts @ morning 11 ...
There are many reasons for bad breath besides oral hygiene. Which have to be ruled out. Other commin reasons may be. - dry mouth ie decreased flow of saliva. As saliva removes odor causing particles besides helping in digestion. Dry mouth can be due to some use of medication, breathing through mouth or salivary gland problems. Etc - use of tobacco products - medical disorders. Eg. Chronic sinusitis, respiratory tract infections, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, lactose intolerance etc. Natural bad breath remedies include chewing on mint or parsley. Drinking lots of water in case of dry mouth which you are already practicing. Chewing on sugarless gum or sucking on sugarfree candy to stimulate production of saliva. So my advice is to first rule out the cause for bad breath and go for treatment accordingly.

My teeth is bleeding at the time im brushing. What to do?

BDS
Dentist,
My teeth is bleeding at the time im brushing. What to do?
Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth.

kindly apply orahelp gum paint twice daily for 15 days. Take multivitamins for a month. also notice that you are not constipated, stressed or having lack of sleep, having acidity problem as these are few of the reasons for ulcers. avoid hot and spicy food as this may irritate the ulcers. brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene.

I suffer from wisdom tooth problem, wherein the tooth completely inside the gum and the flaps of the gums are slowly opening. I have already undergone a wisdom tooth extraction surgery in the past almost a year back and have well aware about the after effects of the surgery which is really painful. Dear lybrate-user, if your wisdom tooth is not erupting properly as surrounding ones and it is indeed painful and cause damage to the just next tooth behind it you must go for surgical extraction. Otherwise your safe. Just do warm saline mouth bathe 2-4times daily and rinse your mouth with some antiplaque mouthwash for better result.

All About Laser Dentistry - Methods and Results

A very interesting thing, that most people would have noticed during their visit to the clinic is the white light that is used on the teeth. This is laser light, which is used extensively over the last couple of decades in dentistry for a variety of treatments. The following are some procedures where laser is commonly used.

  1. Whitening teeth: In-office bleaching is done by applying the whitening agent on the tooth and activating it by laser light. This instant result is whiter teeth and a brighter smile.

  2. Caries: In some cases, laser light is used to remove the decayed portion of the tooth and shape the surrounding healthy tooth to receive the restorative material.

  3. Restorations: When composite resins are used to fill the space left by tooth decay, the decayed portion is removed and the enamel etched to improve adhesion. The composite material is then filled in the tooth space to achieve the desired shape and then light-cured.

  4. Veneers: Where a thin layer of the existing tooth is removed to provide a whiter tooth, then laser light is used. These chemicals are inactive and only become activated when exposed to laser light. In cases of both restorations and veneers, one big advantage is it gives sufficient working time for the dentist to shape the material to the desired form and then activate it.

  5. Gingivitis: Laser is also used in gum diseases where bacteria are removed and the gums are reshaped. Using laser on the root surfaces ensures better removal of the hardened calculus and promotes gum reattachment of the gums to the tooth surfaces.

  6. Root canal therapy: In the root spaces, if there was an infection, laser light can help remove the bacteria before filling up the root canal with gutta percha.

  7. Soft tissue biopsy or lesion removal: Biopsies of the lips, gums, and tongue can be done using laser light. If the lesions are too small and require removal, it can be done by laser, thereby avoiding the need for surgery

Results: In all the above procedures, the laser is more effective than the conventional method that it is replacing. Some advantages include:

  1. Less painful

  2. Anesthesia not required

  3. Avoids tooth drilling in some cases of very minor decay, so patient is at ease

  4. Reduces bleeding and swelling when dealing with soft tissues

  5. Reduces the amount of tooth removal during cavity preparation

Not all situations can be managed with a laser treatment though and conventional biopsies and drills will be required in some cases. As with all other dental situations, a detailed discussion with the dentist on the pros and cons and the patient condition will help make an informed decision.

My teeth is yellow so how can I clean it ?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist,
My teeth is yellow so how can I clean it ?
Cause of discoloration ? Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
Hi, Bleeding might not be from the tooth but from the gums surrounding it. There might be swelling in your gums and whenever you brush or bite something hard you will find blood oozing out. So if this is the case then you should go for gum treatment.
