Thanks for the query. TSH 10.79 mU/l shows you have confirmed hypothyroidism. This needs to be treated with adequate dose of levothyroxine. If not properly treated may lead to a nuber of symptoms like tiredness, fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, slow heart rate, dry skin and hair and hair fall. Anxiety and depression, may affect the speech and clear thinking. Treatment has to be for lifetime. Thanks.

If you are suffering from recurrent tonsillitis then I would suggest you will have to go for tonsil surgery after consulting an ent. Your hampered growth may be due to recurrent tonsillar infections.

BAMS

These are some methods & instruction for relief in snoring: • Exercise daily and running, jogging. Do long breathing exercise pranayam daily. • Clear nasal passage (nose) before sleeping. You can take steam for 2 - 3 minutes to clear the passage. • Change your sleeping position, elevate your pillow slightly while sleeping. • Sleep on a side not on back. • Avoid smoking and excess drinking alcohol. Do not take sedative medicines. • You can do some throat exercises. Repeat these vowel a, e, i, o, you loudly three minutes few times in a day. Place your tongue tip behind your teeth and move backward three times in a day. Move your jaw in left side with open mouth for 30 seconds and in right side for 30 seconds. • You can also try for anti snoring mouth appliance.

Snore a Lot? These Yoga Positions Can Help You Control it

Snore a Lot? These Yoga Positions Can Help You Control it

The thought of waking up fresh in the morning after a good night’s sleep itself is refreshing. However, many are deprived of this simple pleasure of life, one of the main cause behind it is snoring. Whether you are snoring or have a person next to you snoring, the result is a disturbed sleep, which leaves you feeling tired and not-very-rested.

Snoring is caused by multiple reasons including stress, obesity, smoking, sinus problems, circulatory problems, poor diet, large tongue or tonsils and with age. This leaves the person sleep deprived, including a feeling of drowsiness, sore throat, increased risk of heart diseases, reduced libido and decreased concentration.

While there are surgical corrections that can get rid of snoring, yoga has some simple, effective pranayamas and asanas that have been proven to be effective since times immemorial. They improve lung capacity, help in weight management, keep the air passages open and also help in stress management. Try the following asanas and pranayamas to see snoring disappear.

Pranayama: This improves the strength of the facial and throat muscles. Bhramari or Humming Pranayama and Ujjayi pranayama are specifically useful in snoring patients. In Bhramari Pranayama, the lips are closed and the soft palate vibrations are entirely due to nasal airflow. Practised mouth snoring over a period of time where the soft palate is lifted towards the pharynx produces a buzzing bee sound. Both breathing in and out happens through the nostrils producing this sound, although slightly different during inhalation and exhalation. Ujjayi Pranayama is where a hissing breathing sound is produced due to the nasal snoring instead of the mouth snoring in the Bhramari exercise.

Breathing and Chanting the Om Mantra: Sit on the floor in a relaxed position with eyes closed and take few deep breaths. Begin to chant the word OM repeatedly for a few minutes. Break the word into two parts, the first part of OOOO should come from deep within followed by the lighter MMMM. This helps meditate, relax, and reduce snoring. Try to do this breathing and chanting at least ten to twelve times, and more if possible, on a daily basis.

Another effective measure is the Simha Garjasana or Roaring Lion Pose where you kneel down on the mat, lean back so that the hips are resting on the heels. The palms are faced in the space between the knees with fingers spread apart. Tilt your head back while taking deep breaths. This improves the airway and reduces the snoring.

Kapalbhati, Bhujangasana Dhanurasana, Warrior Pose and Surya Namaskar are also other effective asanas. When done regularly over a period of time, it helps in getting rid of snoring. This in turn makes you feel fresh in the morning; ready to take on the day. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Any nicotine that is swallowed with saliva or washed down with eating or drinking will not be effective. If a substantial amount of nicotine is swallowed, it may cause such side effects as heartburn, upset stomach or hiccups. Thus, do not eat or drink while you have the gum in your mouth. It is important to find out the cause for giddiness. At this age it is not normal. Go for the following tests and get back to me with the results. 1. Cbc - a blood test. This will help us find your hemoglobin levels, because low hb is a common cause for giddiness among youngsters 2. Ear check - chronic ear infections can cause giddiness, visit a ent to rule out the same 3. Eye check - a un diagnosed eye power can be a cause too. For now follow these tips 1. Soak 8 to 10 raisins in a cup of water overnight and consume it the next day in empty stomach. This is a excellent remedy for giddiness. 2. Take 4 tsp of warm coconut oil. Apply to your feet and massage gently for five minutes at bedtime. Do this daily to get a good nights sleep. 3. Avoid looking at bright screens like phones, tabs, laptop etc half an hour before bedtime. Read a book instead. You will definitely sleep well 4. Deep breathing - 10 rounds three times a day will cure both sleeplessness and dizziness.

Hello lybrate-user did you recently have cold. During attack of cold the ears get blocked due to spread of infection via a tube into the ears. This tube usually opens during yawning that's when you feel opening in ears. If still you feel blocked you can do steam inhalation, do chew carrots on the side of block. Certain nasal drops decongestants help. If still the same do consult. Take care.
