I was suffering from knee pains and legs are slightly swelled up. Please suggest me.

BPTh/BPT, MPTh/MPT
Physiotherapist, Noida
I was suffering from knee pains and legs are slightly swelled up. Please suggest me.
Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

May be its due to your stomach. You digestive enzymes are less reactive. So it takes time. You have to take your foods timely. Take 5 meals each day. Intake about 3 to 4 litres of water daily. Sleep around 8 hours. Night watching causes Indigestion too. Anxiety many times causes Indigestion. Now think what's your cause! For any other help please text me. Thank you.

Please consult a counsellor for your son's exam phobia. He needs systematic therapy. The counsellor will explore his fear and his depression. At he same time his mother's importance in his life and how it affects his studies also can be explored. It will be helpful if you start taking interest in his future plans and guide him. He might be missing help from his father. His higher heart beats and bp shows anxiety. The counsellor will help him to reduce his anxiety. Kindly take an appointment with a counsellor.

Hello doctor by sitting in hot water tub for 20 minutes. Is there any possibility of reduction fat?

BSc Home Science, M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Bangalore
Not really! If that was the case all the fat people would be sitting in hot water for weight management. You need to balance input (optimal diet) & output (physical & mental work). If either one is in excess, it shows on your body and health. With best regards.

Hi sir/mammy wife is pregnancy is of 7 month, her BP is high because of parental effect or any other reason. Would you please advise me how we can maintain her bp normal. Her bp always (110, 160) like that.

Hi sir/mammy wife is pregnancy is of 7 month, her BP is high because of parental effect or any other reason. Would yo...
As your wife ha now entered her 8th month, high bp is not agood sign for both mother a well a baby------------------your wife's condition is termed in medical language as pre-eclampsia--------------- it is a disorder of pregnancy characterized by high blood pressure and a large amount of protein in the urine in the third trimester of pregnancy and gets worse over time. In severe disease there may be red blood cell breakdown, a low blood platelet count and can effect liver and kidney function, shortness of breath due to fluid in the lungs, or visual disturbances. If left untreated, it may result in seizures and then it will be known as eclampsia--------risk factors for preeclampsia include: obesity, prior hypertension, and diabetes mellitus. It is also more frequent in a woman's first pregnancy and if she is carrying twins. The underlying mechanism involves abnormal formation of blood vessels in the placenta amongst other factors.---------------------- the exact cause of preeclampsia is unknown. It occurs in about 3 to 7% of all pregnancies. But a few of the cause can be ------ 1. Autoimmune disorders----------- 2. Blood vessel problems-------- 3. Your diet--------- 4. Your genes------------- risk factors include:-------------------- 1. First pregnancy------------ 2. Any past history of preeclampsia------------ 3. Multiple pregnancy (twins or more)--------- 4. Family history of preeclampsia------------- 5. Obesity----------------- 6. Over age (above 35) 7. History of diabetes, high blood pressure, or kidney disease symptoms of pre eclampsia------------------. Often, women who have preeclampsia do not feel sick.----------symptoms of preeclampsia can include: 1. Swelling of the hands and face or eyes (edema)---------------- (note: some swelling of the feet and ankles is considered normal during pregnancy.) 2. Sudden weight gain over 1 to 2 days or more than 2 pounds a week---------- symptoms of severe preeclampsia include:----------- 1. Headache that does not go away--------- 2. Trouble breathing--------- 3. Stomach pain on the right side, below the ribs. Pain may also be felt in the right shoulder, and can be confused with heartburn, gallbladder pain, a stomach virus, or kicking by the baby------------- 4. Decreased urine output, not urinating very often---------- 5. Nausea and vomiting (a worrisome sign)------------ 6. Vision changes, including temporary blindness, seeing flashing lights or spots, sensitivity to light, and blurry vision------------------------------- so my advise for you is to immediately visit your gynaecologist before severe pre eclampsia sets in and that can prove fatal for you as well as your baby as a proper physical examination and diagnostic tests are required to confirm the diagnosis of pre eclampsia in your case and a proper monitoring of bp is also required---------------

1] massage the bald area with oil in circular motion to enhance the blood circulation at that area which is necessary for growth of hair follicle. 2] do not tie you hair by stretching it too much, that causes traction and pulling of hair and thus cause baldness. Tie them loose. 3] eat nutritious food, nuts, fruits, green vegetable, sprouted beans, milk etc for growth of hairs. 4] do not apply hard chemical containing compound on scalp. 5] do not take stress and take proper sleep.

I am having weight 118 kgs what changes should I do in my daily life to reduce it.
Focus on your diet: you really need to focus on your diet. When losing weight, many people feel that it is okay to eat what you want and then workout a lot. This is completely incorrect. The secret behind getting fit lies 80 percent in your diet, while the rest 20 percent lies in working out. This is an integral part in losing weight at home and being able to sustain it. Some of the famous weight loss foods. Green tea soya cinnamon multi grains wheat bran wheat grass lemon grass flaxseed pumpkin seeds sunflower seeds leeks lettuce broccoli olive oil quinoa aloe vera. Combine your diet with good physical activity. Take expert advice. Thanku.

My 22 years old but my weight is 97 how reduce my weight tell me the precautions?
Dear Lybrate User, *Drinking a cup of hot water with 1 tsp of honey and 10 drops of apple cider vinegar is a wonderful way to start the day. Honey and apple cider vinegar have scraping effects and can help with reducing excess adipose tissue. *Eliminating alcohol, caffeine and smoking. There is abundant information on how many negative effects these substances induce in the body. They can alter the digestive fire and create cravings for unhealthy foods. *Reducing dairy and meats from the diet. These foods are heavy, gross and can lead to slow, sluggish digestion which will increase the same qualities in the body. Therefore one will have excess heaviness, lethargy and poor metabolism with overconsumption of these foods. *Consume the largest meal at lunch – when digestion is strongest and keep dinner a simple and light meal. *Incorporate ginger pickles and teas in the diet. Ginger is an effective herb for stimulating digestion and removing toxins from the body. It will also help to increase metabolism. *Reducing the cold element in the diet and incorporating more hot meals will also bring changes to health. *Fresh vegetables such as beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celery, leafy greens, onions, garlic, peppers and sprouts will help increase the light element in the body. Fruits to favor include; berries, apples, pears, pomegranate, raisins, lemons, prunes and apricots. Generally heavier and sweet fruit and vegetables such as potatoes, cucumber, zucchini, bananas, coconuts, avocados, oranges, grapes and pineapples are best avoided

I have neck pain from last 2 years. I have tried physiotherapy for 3-4 months. But it don't help. I am a 26 year old male and I work continuously on laptop/ PC. What should I do to prevent a serious neck related illness?

MBBS, MD - Anaesthesiology, FIPM
Pain Management Specialist, Pune
I have neck pain from last 2 years. I have tried physiotherapy for 3-4 months. But it don't help. I am a 26 year old ...
Neck pain in your situation could be most likely due to: 1. Poor ergonomics at workplace causing neck muscles strain. 2. Degeneration of cervical spine due to improper weight distribution during computer work. You should follow good ergonomics at workplace to get relief and avoid neck pain. 1 desk should have sufficient knee room so that one can sit close to the front of the desk. 2. The monitor should be placed at arms length 3. Desk should be at a height such that the wrists are maintained in a neutral position when using a computer with the shoulders relaxed. 4. The chair should be adjustable, padded to maintain the spine in a vertical or slightly reclined position. If the chair does not provide adequate low back support then a lumbar cushion should be used. 5. While seated on chair, the hips and knees should be on same level and feet should be flat on the floor. 6. Arm rests should support the elbows and forearms 7. The monitor should be positioned directly in front. 8. The top of monitor should be at eye level. It's preferable to use a computer instead of a laptop from ergonomics point of view. 9. In between work take breaks at 30 -60 mins and perform neck, shoulder, back stretches or take a simple walk.
