Hello,Homoeopathic medicines are less invasive and have more herbal approach towards gaining the weight. There are a number of homoeopathic medicines, which treat the root cause behind the body’s inability to gain weight or bulk up. 1. Take alfalfa tonic(wsi), 2 – 2 tsp. Thrice a day, half an hour before meals. 2. Calcarea phos 200, 5 drops , once in aweek , morning empty stomach for 2 weeks. 3. Take eggs, milk, butter, bananas, potatoes, mangoes, figs, oats, soyabean and dry fruits. 4. do light exercises regularly to keep your body active. These homoeopathic medicines and dietary addition will increase your appetite and give your metabolism a healthy boost.

I have diabetes since four years can you suggest some measures to control diabetes?

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine), Certified in Evidence Based Diabetes Management, MNAMS, MRCP (UK)

I have diabetes since four years can you suggest some measures to control diabetes?
Thank you for the query. It would have been helpful if you would have mentioned your Fasting blood sugar, 2 hrs post prandial sugar and HbA1c level. 1. If your HbA1c level is less than 7.5%, it would imply a fair control on blood sugar. Dietary regimen (avoidance of refined carbohydrate-pasta, white bread, noodles, burgers etc and carbonated beverages) and exercise (30 min per day for 5 days a week) may be helpful. Sometimes, a low dose of the medicine metformin may be added, which may be beneficial. 2. If the HbA1c level is more than 7.5% one or more oral medications are used in addition to diet and exercise. The medications are given as per the patient's tolerance. 3. If HbA1c is more than 9% it is advisable to go for Insulin. However, if someone is completely non-compliant or averse to Insulin a combination of 2 or more drugs may be used with caution. 4. Since you are diabetic for 4 years it is advisable to get the following tests done if not done already Urine for spot ACR- to check the renal status Eye check up - to rule out diabetic retinopathy. 5. Foot care is very important and even a minor injury must be taken care of. 6. Always remember whatever dietary intake you are having, your calorie intake must be less or equal to our calorie expenditure. It is advisable to get a diet chart done, as per your body weight and activity level. 7. You can take a course of vitamin B complex for nerve protection. Please consult a physician for further advise. Regards.

Please visit your doctor for a detailed check up (along with some tests ). You can also take the help of a nutritionist/dietician who can come up with diet chart which has variety and includes you favourite food items. Planning is very important. Do learn yoga and pranayam, and practice it for a few minutes every day. Read more about healthy diet (balanced diet which is nutritious and healthy ). Have patience and do not take short cuts. You can contact me if you need Homeopathic treatment.

A proper diet plan along with simple walking can give you good results as far as weight loss is concerned. As far as inch loss of any particular area is concerned you need to lose weight and simultaneously do target area specific exercise in your case ab workout. However for both these cases a personalised diet plan is the base. Do consult privately with me on lybrate incase you are keen. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, You may try that, as the mix provides very high calories, 1250 in 2 scoops. It has a good amount of carbs and fats. Calories are mainly coming from carbs & fat. Protein quantity is also good. But it should be accompanied by a serious workout. Otherwise there is a strong possibility of adding a lot of belly fat. All the best.

My question is a my weight is not increasing what should i do to increase my weight ?

MSc

My question is a my weight is not increasing what should i do to increase my weight ?
To gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

Both Veg and Non-Veg foods are good. A deer is a vegetarian yet very agile and active. A leopard is pure non vegetarian and can run extremely fast. A human can accept both veg and non veg. A good diet can have both veg and non veg food. Both have different benefits in terms of nutrients. Take a combination of both for best results.

I was used to be 70 72 kg. After jaundice I put on 11 kgs. I worked hard but the weight is not losing. Kindly guide.
I think after Jaundice, you have/were forced to eat excess food to make up for the loss of health during jaundice. Kindly reduce the amount of oily and sugary foods in your diet. Eat more of veggies, salads, sprouts, fruits, water, buttermilk etc. Ensure that you drink more water. Do daily exercise / walk / yoga of 60 mins. Aim to reduce 2 kgs per month and you will get back to your original weight in an years time.
