Dear lybrate-user, It is winter now, but for body constitutions like yours, taking cool or cold water baths are best. Drink a lot of warm water to stay healthy. Regards.

you are suffering from worry, tension and anxiety. It is often accompanied by muscular tension,[3] restlessness, fatigue and problems in concentration. Anxiety can be appropriate, but when experienced regularly the individual may suffer from an anxiety disorder Anxiety disorders are partly genetic but may also be due to drug use, including alcohol, caffeine, and benzodiazepines(which are often prescribed to treat anxiety), as well as withdrawal from drugs of abuse. Common treatment options include lifestyle changes, medication, and therapy. Diet: it is always important to watch your diet. You are what you eat. Eat what your body needs, reduce refined foods, processed foods and increase the amount of whole grains and fruits and vegetables. Eating small frequent meals goes a long way. Reduce intake of saturated fats; include more lean meats. Choose grilling and steaming over frying and roasting. Recommended foods - Healthy carbohydrates, Fiber-rich foods, Heart-healthy fish and Good fats. Foods to avoid - Saturated fats, Trans fats, Cholesterol and Sodium Exercise: Every week, make sure about 2 hours is dedicated to physical activity. This could include any exercise of your choice, brisk walking, swimming, cycling, aerobics, hiking, jogging, skipping, gymnastics, or playing games like football or basketball. While in most cases, the person can do these on their own, in some people, supervision may be required. Watch your weight: controlling weight to a desirable level of BMI of 18 and 23 is very important. Obesity is one of the predisposing factors for diabetes heart diseases, and reducing weight controls the onset of diabetes and helps the progression of symptoms in diabetics. Smoking: Another risk factor for diabetes onset, palpitation, sleeplessness.Quitting is the best option. If not feasible, reducing smoking and gradually quitting should be aimed at. Not just diabetes, the effects on overall health will be evident almost immediately after quitting. Stress management: there is no getting away from stress. Everybody has their stresses but the trick is to manage it well. Whether it is music or meditation or medication or counselling, make sure stress levels are managed. This also helps prevent complications like heart disease and stroke and promotes well-being

How often should I test my blood sugar, and what should I do if it is too high or too low?

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine)
Endocrinologist, Delhi
How often should I test my blood sugar, and what should I do if it is too high or too low?
Your question doesn't state whether you are a diabetic or not. So I will answer for both situations. If you are not a diabetic, fasting sugar twice on separate occasions is enough to know whether you need to be tested further for diabetes or not. Cut off value for fasting sugar is 126 mg/dl. If sugar on 2 occasions is beyond this then you need treatment. If on the other hand you are a diabetic, then you need a much more extended profile. You need 4 readings in a day to know the trend of your control. Fasting, 2 hrs after breakfast, 2 hrs after lunch and 2 hrs after dinner. I would recommend that you depend on your physician for management of these reports. But if the sugar at anytime is below 70mg/dl then immediately take glucose for avoiding crisis.

How to solve gas problem permanently. Because of that I'm facing lots of problems.
Permanent solution is perhaps not possible. Our lifestyle has become so bad that we can not avoid many health related problem. At-least one may try to get rid of these problems by trying to balance life. Avoid hurry, worry and curry (spicy food). Walk regularly. Try to reduce your stress levels.
