My dad is 65+years old. He is experiencing a continuous sound in his left ear from one year. Sound is like waves on sea shore. Also his hearing capacity of that ear has degraded. Is it curable with medicine or should we think about using hearing aids.

It is not necessary that medicine which worked so well for you last time will work for you as the causing bacteria may be different this time. That expllain failure of response. Please see a doctor for correct advice.

What is perforated ear drum? please suggest treatment for this if it is treatable?

What is perforated ear drum? please suggest treatment for this if it is treatable?
A ruptured eardrum, like a clap of thunder, can happen suddenly. You may feel a sharp pain in your ear, or an earache that you've had for a while suddenly goes away. It's also possible that you may not have any sign that your eardrum has ruptured. A ruptured eardrum -- also known as a perforated eardrum or a tympanic membrane perforation -- can lead to complications such as middle ear infections and hearing loss. It may also require surgery to repair the damage to the eardrum. But typically, especially if you protect your ear, a ruptured eardrum will heal on its own without treatment within a couple of months. Or you cn refer to a gud homoeopath nearby for gud results.

I am suffering from sinus infection from the past 6 months. And I had consulted a ENT specialist. It was seems to be ok last month. But again I am facing the same problem. Whqt is the cure for this disease from its root?

MBBS, MS - ENT
ENT Specialist, Ahmedabad
Generally sinus infection is preceded by allergy. You must avoid your allergens to prevent cold which in turn prevents sinusitis. Try to avoid dust smokes perfumes and pollutants. Use facemask in such situations. Prevention is better than cure. Take regular steam inhalation. But if you have structural block in your nose and sinus that has to correct surgically.

I have dry cough since last week and every time I cough, my throat pains! What should I do?
Pain in throat may be due to Allergy cum infection in throat. Through examination of throat is required. If required after taking throat swab for culture and sensitivity, accordingly antibiotics and Antihistamincs , Analgesics can be given.

Hii sir, I am raviteja recently I had a surgery for nose named septoplasty what is post operative care and how many days should I take. And I am suffering from blocked nose after operation can you please give advice.

MS - ENT,MBBS
ENT Specialist, Kolkata
Hi post operatively after septoplasty you need to take following precautions *antibiotics for 7 to 10 days *pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications. *decongestant nasal drops for 7 days *normal saline or isotonic nasal drops for as long as it takes to clear your nose. *soft to semisolid diet *diet should be at room temperature. *bed rest for 7 days. *lie in supine position. *avoid nose blowing, hot food, steam during immediate postoperative period. Avoid contact sports and heavy weight lifting. Have plenty of water with veggies and fruits for boosting your immunity and clear your vowels without straining. No strenuous activity should be undertaken now to avoid risk of bleeding. Steam maybe taken later after 3 weeks. Following surgery the nasal tissue edema takes some time to decrease. Take care
