Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Numbness sitting cross legged is common because in that position your nerve gets compressed that is why you feel numb. So you actually require no treatment for this. If you are having numbness while normal activities like sitting, walking etc, the it becomes significant and we will have to evaluate you for that. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr. Akshay kumar saxena Consultant orthopaedics fortis hospital, new delhi.

Science suggests that marijuana has anti-carcinogenic elements n it's cure to more than 20 life threatening diseases like Alzheimer n depression etc. Why is it still illegal? What actually makes it illegal? Does it cause more harm than a cigarette or alcohol? Please substantiate. Thank you.

Science suggests that marijuana has anti-carcinogenic elements n it's cure to more than 20 life threatening diseases ...
There are no proven benefits of marijuana over cancer. It use as a treatment for depression or alzheimer's is questionable just for the reason of risk benefit ratios. It's illegal to use marijuana sine it is a psychoactive substance prone for dependence and association with other drugs and antisocial activities. Also marijuana or cannabis may precipitate psychosis with long term use. Hence it's use for any indication is simply a leap in the dark, unless we have evidence based studies for active ingredients of the substance.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Migraine is a relapsing type of headache. It is usually seen in females but may occur in males too. Management of migraine includes treatment for acute headaches and then treatment for prevention of future attacks of migraine. This is decided according to the onset, type, duration, severity of headaches and also the associated symptoms like sleep problems, stress, anxiety etc.

Hi. I am suffering for rigidity in the body and not able to walk properly like earlier. Doctors opinion is this is early stage of Parkinson and prescribed Syndopa plus, pramipex o. 5mg. What should i do now?

COMT, MPTh/MPT
Physiotherapist, Surat
Parkinsons is a neurological disorder so the aim of treatment in such patients is to preserve a patients independence and treat motor and non-motor symptoms relief by minimizing the adverse effects of medicine. Continue taking the medicine that a neurologist have recommended you as it will helps to decrease the level of symptoms. As you mentioned your muscles start developing rigidity so I would advice you to please consult some nearby physiotherapist to start your treatment to make work independently by increasing your functional performance. In such cases we recommend to take medicine along with physio to get cured and reduce symptoms. In physiotherapy we have several techniques to treat Parkinson’s patients like stretching exercises, manipulation techniques, mobility program, physical conditioning, co-ordination/balance training etc. In the mean time you can start doing all joint movements because it will make your joints active and decrease the chances to develop more rigidity. For any further detail please contact right away. Best Regards.

I have uric acid count up to 6.6 ml . And my left leg thigh numbness has increased and acute back pain and leg pain . I'm on few medications , but is there anything I still can do ?

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
I have uric acid count up to 6.6 ml . And my left leg thigh numbness has increased and acute back pain and leg pain ....
Your body produces uric acid when it breaks down purines — substances that are found naturally in your body, as well as in certain foods, such as steak, organ meats and seafood. Other foods also promote higher levels of uric acid, such as alcoholic beverages, especially beer, and drinks sweetened with fruit sugar (fructose). Normally, uric acid dissolves in your blood and passes through your kidneys into your urine. But sometimes your body either produces too much uric acid or your kidneys excrete too little uric acid. When this happens, uric acid can build up, forming sharp, needle-like urate crystals in a joint or surrounding tissue that cause pain, inflammation and swelling, called Gout. Homoeopathy offers permanent cure for such tendency since it is the susceptibility which makes one more prone for high uric acid while under same circumstances other people are normal . Normal Uric acid levels are 2.4-6.0 mg/dL (female) and 3.4-7.0 mg/dL (male). Normal values will vary from laboratory to laboratory. Also important to blood uric acid levels are purines.

What are the symptoms of migraine. If the nerve of neck get stiff then do I consult the doctor for assessment. Is it asign of migraine. Because I continuously work on system.

BPT, MPT - Orthopedic Physiotherapy
Physiotherapist, Sangrur
Hello lybrate user I think you are asking about headache. It's depending upon the site or area of head. As you have already mentioned regular sitting work on computer system. So firstly it can be neck pain because of long time your neck having or attained same position. It gets muscle weakness and pain. Secondly due to over stressed eyes like vision problem can also create head pain but surrounding eyes and forehead. If headache has been not treated it tends to be converted in migraine. You can consult to good physician.
