Dear lybrate user with the limited amount of information provided we assume that as you are a diabetic you are concerned about tooth issues. It could had been better had you provided us with your fasting and hba1c levels for better understanding of your condition. Tooth decay is a common problem in diabetics due to unmanaged sugars and this should be regularly taken care of. Ideally diabetics should get their tooth inspected every 6 months and any infection should be taken care of at the earliest. Good that you are already consulting a dental surgeon and he has advised you wisely, please go ahead as advised by him. Take care that your sugars should be well in control before the procedure. Hope that solves your query. Anything more then please feel free to revert.

When plaque and tartar accumulate in the teeth, they give rise to gum diseases. But if taken care of at the right time, they can reversed at the initial stage itself. By getting the plaque and tartar removed from the teeth, you can easily get rid off them.

You need to see your dentist immediately if you want to save your tooth you need to get an x ray to see if the tooth has broken from the root or is it still attached. The more you delay the less chance you will have of saving your tooth.

I am suffering from bad breath (due to bad stomach). What kind of food shall I avoid?

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
I am suffering from bad breath (due to bad stomach). What kind of food shall I avoid?
Avoid these foods: alcohol coffee and teas that contain caffeine onions garlic citrus fruits and juices tomato products peppermint spicy foods chocolate fried or fatty foods Eat foods that are rich in fiber to fight halitosis. Fiber helps the digestive movement (peristalsis) run smoothly so that reflux and obstruction are less likely to occur. Fibrous foods also keep you feeling full longer and may help you maintain your weight. GERD is linked to being overweight, so consult your doctor about losing weight to relieve acid reflux and heartburn. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to refresh your breath. Water is less likely than other beverages to upset your stomach or weaken your LES. It also helps wash away bacteria that can lead to bad breath. Be sure to choose still water instead of sparkling, as carbonation can increase heartburn symptoms.

Kind of toothbrush to be used by adults:       We recommend a brush with soft bristles which helps in removing the plaque and debris thoroughly from the mouth.

Avoid sugary foods. When bacteria in the mouth break down simple sugars, they produce acids that can erode tooth enamel, opening the door to decay. “Sugary drinks, including soft drinks and fruit drinks, pose a special threat because people tend to sip them, raising acid levels over a long period of time,Carbonated drinks may make matters worse, since carbonation also increases acidity.Sticky candies and chocolates are another culprit, because they linger on teeth surfaces.

I am 27 year old female. I feel pain in my gums. While I do brush regularly and its also swelling. What I do.

BDS
Dentist, Raipur
This is because of infection of gums due to stains and calculus. You first get a professional cleaning and take a antibiotic and anti inflammatory course prescribed by dentist. And then follow the care instructions for good oral health given by your doctor. You will be fine. Cheers.

There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.
