: Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Swelling on face and foot is not a good symptom. You may suffering from kidney disease, cardiac problem or severe anaemia. You need a proper check up to diagnose the problem.

I am 63 yrs. Gap in left knee joint has reduced. My doctor confirmed but said initial stage and suggested regular exercise after reducing / removal of swelling. Please. Inform how to get rid of swelling by some medicine and exercise. Thanks.

It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform

My age is 33 yrs. I am experiencing pain in right shoulder blade. The pain is not spreading to other places. I noticed when I sit for too long I get this pain. Could you please suggest what precausions to take or any medicine.

Hi thanks for your query. If you have only localized shoulder pain, then you have to rule out any injury as a cause for it. There are many causes of shoulder pain but we have to look out for a cause as treatment is dependent on it. If there is no swelling/fever etc, then I think intensive physical therapy with a short course of anti-inflammatory medications can be tried, if it does not improve in next 2-3 weeks, then we will have to evaluate to find out a cause and treat accordingly. I am 48 year female. I am having pain in sole of please left foot(near heel)from 7-8 days. It occurs while standing or walking. Also from 2-3 years I am suffering from constipation, kindly advice.

I am 58 years old male indian. 35 years ago I undergone surgery for chronic pancreatitis. Thereafter i have had severe abdominal pain for long years. Later on I went surgery again before 5 years removed gallbladder removed stone from pancreas and bile duct. I have been taking digestive enzyme tabs 3 times daily with food. After that I before 3 years I had a serious heart attack. Suddenly doctors have done angioplasty. There were 4 blocks. I am diabetic for the last 32 years. Using insulin and other tabs. I am so tired now a days I have pain on the lower part of spine and sputum production and lega paining etc. Kindly advise me what should I do?

Obesity heavy putting too much pressure on load bearing and most complex joint of body i.e. Knee joint pain killers etc are not permenant ans for it improvement in joint functions and lossing extra fat by natural way is ans for it requires detailed histroy for solution consult privetly for details and ayurvediy medications pathyapathya.

Hi there are various causes for ankle pain like. Mechanical pain (improper foot wear), tendonitis or planter fascities. For pain. -apply ice, -do stretching of calf muscles, -wear proper footwear -do reply for detailed treatment plan. Best wishes.

Hello sir, I regularly work out in my gym but my back is pain at night when I go to sleep.
Dear lybrate-user, get a mri done to pin point the cause and site of pain. Meanwhile go for ayurveda's panchkarma therapy - we have many option for you - kati basti (specialised panchakarma procedure for backpains), localised massgae with herbal oils, localised medicated steam, pottali massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax your back muscles and give strength to your nerves and muscles of back. Also start some yogic exercises - tadasana, dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. This will greatly help. Please avoid pushing / pulling heavy objects, long sittings, long two-wheeler drives. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking. Please update with your valuable feedback after 15 days.

Hello according to your condition you have to take hot water fermentation through towel and do it 3 times in a day duration-15 min along with stretching and back exercises like straingh leg raising, bridging with -20 min repetition -5 sec hold do it for 3 days sure you will get well soon take care.

On 01/04/2014 I had faced an accident which lead me right leg calcaneal fracture, total five nos of hairline type fracture. After 1.5 months of plaster & another 1 month of bed rest I started my normal life. But still now facing problem with pain, sometimes it becomes unbearable. Hot water compression giving too much relief but after few hours it is again as it is. Is there any other kind of home remedy available?

Calcaneum is weight bearing joint so any injury of this joint take long time to recover Are you taking calcium supplement? and after treatment X ray was done? 1. You can apply volini gel 1% local application twice a day for 3-5 days 2. You can do massage with olive/ castor oil before sleeping 3. Hot fomentation twice a day for 3 days 4. You must drink more water, avoid prottin rich food all pulses and non-veg food, avoid alcohol, then again after 1 month check your serum uric acid report. If it is within normal than it is ok. But if still is above the normal level, then you must start allopathic medicines.

Neck advice hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Back advice. Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretching. Do the cat/cow stretch.

Is there possible to overcome from bulging disc?

Backache is the commonest ailment. Do not worry, rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Mri report must be interpreted in relation to the clinical condition of the patient.

. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – Lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
