- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

I am feeling kind of pea like node beneath my jaw from the past few days. It doesn't give pain but it I am not sure what it is. Can someone please advise if it is harmful of a sign of any severe thing.

MDS
Dentist, Sangli
These node indicate submandibular lymphadentis which is mostly caused by longstanding tooth cavity infection or gum problems. It will reduce after medicine use for temporary. But treating tooth cavity infection and gum problems will resolve that node for sure.

Eat lot of fruits & green leafy vegetables & drink plenty of water. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. Hexigel ointment on the area of ulcer. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

His mouth always smells very bad even after he had recently brushed. What should he do to prevent this bad odour?

Post-Graduate Certificate in Endodontics
Dentist, Cuttack
Hello, you need a good scaling of teeth. Due to deposits around teeth, bad odour occurs and gum problem arises. Get a scaling done. If you want more whiter teeth then prefer bleaching of teeth thank you.

Brush twice a day, keep tooth problems away: Brushing twice a day removes the tiny left out food particles from the mouth and keeps it fresher and cleaner.

Yesterday i visited my dentist as i was having sensivity in my tooth. So he told me that my jaw is such that they are decayiing my teeth ( means teeth aapas mein ragad kar ghis rahe rai) 30% od them are decayed. He said that there is nothing which we can do. Is there any solution?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
If you have either malocclusion or occlusal discrepancy nothing can be done except by restoring your decayed teeth? Again if you however have a TMD disorder you may be able to treat it with some prosthesis or splints.

I think ur playing with med Roland in a bigger trouble consult a periodontist u may require deep gingival curettage than brush twice daily especially at night massage gums

I am 49 years old. I am suffering from toothache in a right upper gum tooth. This tooth has been eroded badly since long. What should I do, whether the tooth needs to be pulled out or to be filled up by some method. Please advise.

Have an x-ray to that tooth if there may be bone loss around the tooth it must be better get it pulled out n if no sign of bone loss or pus formation below the tooth u can undergo rct followed by capping.

There is a possibily that your left side have a carious tooth. You have to get an xray done to to rule out any such possibility.

You need to get your jaw immediately checked as there maybe some problem with the jaw joint and more delay may aggrevate the problem too much leading to permanent problem.

Astritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.
