What Causes Infertility in Men?

What Causes Infertility in Men?

Both women and men suffer from infertility troubles. There are a host of causes that may lead to infertility in men such as lifestyle choices and obesity. Male infertility is characterized by irregular sperm function or reduced sperm count. Infertility has emerged as a common problem as a result of the modern day lifestyle. Extremely hectic schedules, stress, burnout, depression, unhealthy diets; all of these can contribute to fertility issues.

The various reasons for infertility in men are:

  1. If you are overweight, then it is time to lose those extra kilos. Obesity leads to a number of health problems, one of them being erectile dysfunction.
  2. Various hormonal problems such as complications of the hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal glands may lead to low testosterone levels in the body.
  3. Various infections such as inflammation of the testicles and epididymis that causes blockage of the tubes carrying the sperm can be a cause.
  4. Various medications such as using anabolic steroids, antifungal medications and chemotherapy may hamper production of the sperm and thus hit fertility.
  5. Both alcohol and cigarettes may cause problems in sperm production, and cause erectile dysfunction. Excessive drinking may lead to complications in the liver resulting in infertility.

The reasons of infertility may range from medical causes to lifestyle choices; some of the causes may be related to the environment. A common cause of infertility is due to problems with transportation of the sperm. These are mainly due to blockages in the tubes that carry the sperm.

Symptoms of infertility in men are:

  1. You may experience low libido
  2. Your sperm count may be low
  3. You may experience lumps or swellings in the testicles
  4. Chromosomal complications such as reduced body hair
  5. You may have chronic respiratory problems

It is boderline high. Increase in creatinine is indicative of reduced kidney functions. You should avoid taking medicine without doctor's advise. If diabetic keep your blood sugar under control and follow advise of your doctor. Get your kidney function test done regularly.

Being a homoeopath I will surely guide you in this direction.Answer my following questions 1.What led you to go for your BLOOD THYROID PROFILE tests 2.What problems are you presently facing 3.Any other problem you have other that raised TSH levels Your TSH is not alarmingly high that you should immediately start taking medicine. This doesnot mean that you should neglect it and make big your problem.have a analysis for your problem such as - 1.Why your TSH levels are raised 2.What life style changes I can adopt to bring it to normal To start taking medicine for such problem is very easy but first try to find out other options as medicines once started can be taken life long with some adverse effects on your body. So please dont start medicines for Thyroid immediately as levels are not alarmingly high.Discuss with me your life style, your personal ,Present and past history and I will surely help you.Just be positive and try to avoid medicines.Everytime Medicines are not the solution if we can get some easy solution other than medicines then nothing harm in it.

My daughter (26) sufferring from thyroid goitter. According to INMAS doctors it is a case of surgery. Whether it can be cured by medicines and surgery could be avoided. There are about 5 cysts in thyroid area.

ENT Specialist, Secunderabad
Swelling of thyroid gland can be due to many reasons. Swelling of thyroid is generally referred as goitre.Enlargement of thyroid gland can occur normally. It is called physiological. Goitre. However certain investigations are required 1. Ultra sound of neck 2 Blood test for T3,T4,and TSH 3. FNAC is required for definitive diagnosis. If Ultra sound shows nodule, then USG guided FNAC and before that Tc Scan is required.

Hello, Thanks for the query. To suggest specific diet, I need to know following things: Your present diet pattern, blood glucose levels, extent of daily exercise, medicines with dosage General guidelines to be followed are: Avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items and foods made from maida. Refrain from taking colas and alcohol. Total caloric intake has to be exact based on actual body weight. Increase the intake of green leafy vegetables and salads. Thanks.
