Last year my a1c was 7.3 and now as recent report it is 6.6. My Dr. Has not prescribed any medicine but asked me to do regular walk and exercise of one hour which I do without fail. Except on occassion once in 4/5moths I do not take sweets and no sugar in tea. At present my fasting sugar is 105/112 and 2 hrs after meal it comes 140/155. Random also 105/111 what is your suggestion.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
for a diabetic it is best advised to have a diet planned as per the sugar levels, lifestyle and history. Though you can follow some guidelines - have small frequent meals. Do not fast for more than 2-3 hours. Avoid a very heavy meal at one time. Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar. Fruits should be had as a mid meal. Avoid junk foods. Exercise and stay active. Do not attempt to try out too many remedies as you could go into hypoglycaemia. Sleep well. It's all a matter of discipline.

How to prevent diabetes from the age 40 to 60 aged people please say some solution to prevent sugar from aged people.
Mr. Lybrate-user, if one has family history of diabetes, then chances of getting the disease increase tremendously. However, t2 diabetes is a preventable disease. One can keep it at bay by adapting a modified lifestyle, which means - 1) regular exercise for more than 1 hour a day, 2) taking a balanced and restricted diet, that provide exact calories based on ideal body weight and extent of daily physical activity, 3) avoiding excess of sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, aerated sweetened drinks and pastries. 4) consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits daily. 5) refrain from smoking or tobacco in any form and alcohol. Following this routine will help in keeping diabetes away.

Remember you have Thalassemia and that is major cause in your problem. So no permanent cure may be possible but if you stop thinking it as a problem and stay tension free, I am sure you will enjoy your sex more better. Eat fresh fruits and fresh vegetables and go for morning brisk walk for one hour and rest of your body complaints will slowly go away. Tension too cause strained muscles at neck and shoulders which on long run may cause pain. Follow that, I am sure it will help you.
