How Lack Of Sex Can Affect Your Relationship

Graduate in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery ( GAMS )

How Lack Of Sex Can Affect Your Relationship

Modern lifestyle generally motivates you to be conscious of your health and external obstacles to attain a fit body. But like many other problems that are not quite evident, lack of sex in your relationship may look like a trivial matter in the beginning, but can become a bigger emotional and psychological problem for you and your partner. Here are several ways in which lack of sex can lead to trouble in your relationship, and in the long run affect your mental and psychological health.

  1. Resentment as a primary factor: It has been widely accepted that resentment towards your partner is one of the primary reasons for the lack of sex in your relationship. However, you cannot ignore the fact that in most cases, lack of sex, which is not due to resentment, leads to resentment and misunderstandings, making it a serious issue. This will indeed induce great stress in you, affecting the way you treat your partner even outside the bedroom.
  2. Harm caused by resultant depression: Lack of sex in a relationship often goes a long way in widening the emotional gap between you and your partner. It results into simmering resentment or quarrels. The feeling of rejection has been known to induce severe clinical depression, which can seriously affect the relationship.
  3. Stress which you can't cope with: Doctors all over the world agree that sex is a great stress buster. The release of chemicals like endorphin or oxytocin inside the body induces relief and a feel-good mood, which reduces anxiety of daily life goals. When you stop having sex, the stress increases, which at some point of time or the other will lead to misunderstandings and problems in the relationship and emotional strain.

Overall, lack of sex leads to insecurity in the relationship and builds up mistrust, which in turn affects your and your partner's personal health. So, sitting down and discussing how to address this issue might be a good idea if you notice the lack of passion in your relationship.

Hi lybrate-user, for many men anxiety and pressure to perform is a major contributor to premature ejaculation. Relax and remember that your partner probably cares about more than the timing of your orgasms, and that premature ejaculation doesn't mean you can't still be good in bed. Take climaxing out of your expectations. Instead of viewing intercourse only as a means of achieving orgasm, reframe it as relaxing, pleasurable time with your partner that you'll enjoy regardless of ejaculation. Discuss this new mindset with your partner, so that he or she can stop pressuring you, intentionally or not. If you notice yourself getting too excited, turn your thoughts to something distant, abstract and unsexy, such as math, rush hour traffic or baseball. Only dwell on it long enough to give yourself a short break from arousal, maybe 5 to 10 seconds, then refocus your attention on your partner. Avoid thinking of a topic that is going to make you stressed or cause you to lose your arousal entirely. Edging, or orgasm control, is the practice of maintaining a high level of sexual arousal while delaying ejaculation. It takes practice, but it gets easier over time. Here are two methods recommended by the national institutes of health to stop premature ejaculation: stop-and-start method: have intercourse as usual until you feel yourself coming uncomfortably close to orgasm. Immediately and abruptly cease all stimulation for 30 seconds, then start again. Repeat this pattern until you're ready to ejaculate. Squeeze method: have intercourse as usual until you feel like orgasm is seconds away. Abruptly stop other stimulation and gently squeeze your thumb and forefinger around the part of the penis where the glans meets the shaft (or your partner could do this). After squeezing for a few seconds, pause all stimulation for another 30 seconds before resuming intercourse. Repeat this pattern until you're ready to ejaculate. All the best.

I used to smoke 2 cigarette per day from last 4 years. From last 1 month I quit it. I have join gym but my stamina is nt enough. Even when I run I get tired within 500 mt and feel like vomiting. I want to increase my strength and stamina. As soon as possible. Can you please help.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

It will take some time for stamina and strength to develop. You will need to gradually increase your exercise. When exercising you must preferably choose aerobic exercise and always breathe through your nostrils during exercise. For strength development you will need to do some weight training. If you push yourself too much, you will feel like vomiting. When you wo0rk out you must also do it in a place where the air is clean. Deep breathing techniques may be learne dthrough Yoga too.

I'm suffering from intense depression due to a major change in my life. I'm unable to think positive and my thoughts kills me all day. I can't sleep properly, Even when I do it's all bad thoughts waking me in the middle of the night. I feel like shouting at the walls. I don't feel hungry at all, like it's the least I concern about. I feel very tired and hopeless everyday. Can't concentrate on work or studies. My patience and tolerance has become zero. I tend to shout on anyone on just a slight inconvenience. It's been a few weeks now, I thought time would help. Nothing has changed. Revenge is all I think about without considering the consequences.

Good Afternoon, Depressive disorder is not uncommon and affects many people in their lives. The lifetime incidence of this disorder is about 10-15 per 100 people and it is not surprising if it happens in adolescents, adults or even in elderly populations. I believe that your symptoms of depressed mood, sleep difficulties, hopeless/helpless/worthless feelings, guilt that is not usually attributable to you or others i.e. Self blame, problems at work or school affecting daily life and academic performance are all parts of the problem of depression. I would highly recommend that you consult with a psychiatrist to find out the right solution for you. Medications along with therapy is better than either of them alone. Look forward to hearing from you. If you need help with booking an appointment online with me on this website either text, audio or video appointment for confidential and private consultation you may do so by contacting the help desk of Lybrate.

Hello sir I have bad habit of smoking.

MD-Psychiatry, MBBS, Basic Life Support (B.L.S), Certificate in Forensic Psychology
Psychiatrist,
Hello, smoking is one of the easiest & one of the most difficult habits to break because 1. Quitting cigarettes does not cause any immediate harm 2. Cigarettes are so easily available that one does succumbs into temptation of smoking just 1 more before stopping altogether. Regarding your question, easy way is decide a quit date 1 week from now & reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke to half from today. Secondly, you can purchase nicotex/quitsure park & suck type nicotine chewing gums to take care of your cigarette craving & substitute them for cigarettes. In addition, there are medications which help to reduce craving & get rid of smoking addiction. If you need them, inform me after 1 week for next plan of action. Good luck.

Exam is actually a test of time rather than only knowledge. While writing exam you need to a lot certain time for certain questions. For example in case of exam with 5 main questions with allotted 3 hours you cannot afford to spend more than 30-40 minutes on one question or you won't find time for rest of the questions, even if you know them in details. Also wile writing exam you have to be stable enough to manage time and put all that you know in required space and time only. If you feel uncontrolled anxiety worrying you for future exams, try some relaxation exercises.
