Hi from your description it seems you have a emotional connection and thus dependency on this person. If you like this and don't wish to change this den you can just let the nature take its course otherwise share this fact with the person in question. Make your self sure where you wish to take this relation before this confrontation because she might not understand if you don't try enough. Hope this helps but feel free to consult further. I have been chewing ghutka since 2008. And now I finally quitted chewing totally since 3 weeks and now I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms including shortness of breathe sometimes suddenly. I want to know is it a serious issue? What should I do now? And how long will it last?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Nothing to worry really. Withdrawal symptoms will run their course and will gradually fade away. Drinking a lot of fluids and do good vigorous exercises and that will lessen the effects. If it gets really unbearable you can visit a doctor who will prescribe medicines to ease the symptoms.

Language Disorder - How to Diagnose it?

Language disorder is commonly known as language impairment, it is a common childhood disorder, which makes it difficult for kids to understand what the people around them are saying to them and to face difficulty in following simple directions, it also includes difficulty in expressing the thoughts and feeling through speech.

Language disorder can be classified as:

  1. Receptive language disorder: This disorder makes it difficult to understand what the other person is saying to the one suffering from it.
  2. Expressive language disorder: Kids suffering from it are not able to express themselves and their thoughts.
  3. Mixed receptive expressive disorder: These kids have combined symptoms of receptive language disorder and expressive language disorder, making it difficult to understand and to make someone else understand.

Symptoms of language disorder:

  1. Difficulty in understanding: The ones suffering from language disorder, finds it difficult to understand what the people around them are saying.
  2. Limited vocabulary: It is one of the prominent symptoms, in which the vocabulary of the kids is very limited as compared to other kids of that age.
  3. Trouble learning new things: Learning new things is a difficult task for the kid suffering from language disorder
  4. Repeat usage of certain phrases: Kids tend to use the same phrase again and again, which is one of the basic symptoms.
  5. Frustration: As the kid is either not able to understand or to make other understand or both, kids with this disorder tend to remain more frustrated in comparison to other kids, as they are unable to do things.
  6. Sentences which do not make sense: Making incomplete or senseless sentences is a key indicator of language disorder.

What you should do?

  1. Speech therapist: The treatment may include speech therapy, in which the speech therapist will work towards building the vocabulary and improving the grammar of the kids suffering, making the kids more confident and feel good about themselves.
  2. Psychotherapy: If the kid is also suffering from emotional issues because of the language disorder, then one should also undergo Psychotherapy, as it not only improves the morale of the patient, but also provides the guidance on how to keep improving further from the language disorder.
  3. Positive Atmosphere: The kids suffering from such a disorder should be made comfortable enough to enjoy their being, giving plenty of time to your young ones is the best way to cure such disorder, so one should always communicate well with his kids and make them learn new things, sing to them, listen to various sounds, show different pictures, colours, shapes to make them learn.
  4. Parental Support: The parents should also understand the issue well, be patient, and should support the kid to work out on the disorder. Parents should also interact with other parents, who have been there, to learn more about the language disorders and how their kids overcome the disorder.

As language disorder is one of common issue in kids, this can be managed and cured well to improve after all the required knowledge and best practices to follow.

I am 18 years old. I have fear for all the things. How do I over come my fear? Any physical methods?

I am 18 years old. I have fear for all the things. How do I over come my fear? Any physical methods?
Hello lybrate user, hi buddy. Fear is an imagination of your mind. Too much of thinking about future will create fear through anxiety. Too much of swinging to past or future or anything results in fear through worries. Just live in the present moment. That is the power of now. Mind living in the present moment is fearless mind. It is deathless state. Practice meditation and just do your job on hand without likes and dislikes and enjoy the present moment. Present is the'present' a gift given by god. Meditation will enable you to live moment to moment and be happy with inner freedom.

Hi. I'm 19 years old girl. I'm a first years medical student .I have my final examination within a week. And now it all happened to me. So I need physiological assistance. I had a guy as a best friend. I love him a lot. We were even physically intimate. There are lot of memories we shared together. Only till last week, when I proposed him, he said he can't accept me, since he has a girlfriend. He started to ignore me since then.& afterwards clearly mentioned he doesn't want to keep any connection with me. This was too shocking for me. I'm now in a state of mental depression. I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can't study, I can't do anything. There's no way left to get back to him. The memories are haunting me like he'll. I'm afraid I will not pass the examination in this way. Please help me as fast as possible so that I may continue my normal life forgetting him. Please help me out.

First of all stop thinking that you are a looser or a victim. You are none of these. What has happened is just an end result of what you had chosen for yourself- I mean - it is you who had willingly taken a decision to carry on with this friend to whatever limitsyou had chosen. You accepted him. Today, he is no longer interested, so please accept that also- this is what life has returned -it could be good or it has turned out to be bad, gather yourself once again and become the bright student who got admission in medical, why waste life on someone who is least bothered, so, think about other people who really love you, do not want anything else but your good-like your parents.

Dear, Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you?re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse?no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn?t easy. But it?s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Take care.

I feel really depressed about every small thing and have been prone to crying for every little thing that goes wrong....
You need to consult any professional for proper diagnosis and reason of your problem.in the meantime you can try few things which will help you. Take proper sleep of 7-8 hours try to avoid sleep at day time. Its in our hand to be happy what it requires is slightly change in your approach ,stop thinking that something is wrong with me I am not well make yourself as much busy as you can so that you don't get time to think on all this. And its everyone's right is to be happy we cannot change the thinking of people or situation around us but we can get the things or reasons which make us happy, what we can do is to live every second of life, what do you want to be, what do you want to eat, to do, your career, your friends, your likings etc. Develop some hobby, make some good friends, make yourself busy, as much you will think you will get frustrate and will gain nothing, live only for yourself, and this can be possible when you will involve yourself in some other things ,the main concept is that make yourself as much busy as you can so that you don't get free time to think on this. First start from joining any hobby class and make any good friend with whom you can share everything ,do some yoga and meditation, expand your social circle. Take care.

How can I increase my memory. I forget things after some time. Please suggest me.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Natural concentration is when the mind can hold a thought for a long time, when thoughts are under our own control. Without concentration the mind goes here, there and everywhere, jumping like a monkey from branch to branch, idea to idea. When there is a natural concentration, we can control our mind and there is peace. This one-pointed concentration on a thought, holding it for as long as we like, gradually collects strength in the mind and in the self. A strong mind is a mind that is peaceful, stable, satisfied and can remain in the deeper meaning of a thought. There is no waste caused by over-thinking, or the high speed of thought: These are the two greatest diseases of the mind these days, which is why there is so much stress and mental breakdown. Stress can foil concentration and learning ability. Although concentration is different to memory, they can affect each other. Concentration precedes memory. If you are under stress your concentration will go for a toss, then naturally memory will be totally foiled. So meet with a counselor to take care of the stress and your memory will happily return. You can follow these simple rules in the meantime: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine.

10 Tips to Help You De-Stress

10 Tips to Help You De-Stress

Rent a funny movie, go to a yoga class, keep a journal — these proven stress relief methods work. Not only will you feel better, but you’ll be happier.

These days it seems everyone is living and breathing stress. Trying to undo the tension can just add more stress if you take the wrong approach. But there’s no need to do that; there are many healthy, proven ways to get stress relief.

Here are some tried and true tips to get stress relief:

Exercise
“Run, do some yoga, punch a bag at the gym,”. Exercise is a way to manage stress that doesn’t have to add to your financial woes. For example, a 20-minute walk or jog around your block can yield up to 12 hours of improved mood. The main thing is to find a physical activity that you enjoy, whether it’s dancing or fly fishing.

Socialize
Spending time with friends and family who give you a sense of belonging, purpose, and fun may provide all the stress relief you need.

Write
Dedicating a period of time every day to write about a situation that is bothering you may reduce tension and give you stress relief for the rest of the day. Keeping a journal can also help you solve problems or find positive angles amongst the stressors.

Laugh
Laughter really is the best medicine. It is proven to lower tension, and at the same time, improves blood flow and the health of your heart. Rent a funny movie or hang out with that wannabe-comedian pal, and forget about your worries for a while.

Take care of yourself
W'hen tension spikes, it can be tempting to put yourself last — but prioritizing healthy eating, physical activity, relationships, and sleep is necessary if you want to avoid making your stress worse.

Get some fresh air
If you are cooped up inside all day, take a few minutes to get outside and see the sun. A little time in the great outdoors can improve your mood and help you relax.

Be kind to yourself
Think about positive affirmations daily. Thinking negative thoughts only makes you feel bad and will increase stress. Tell yourself you are doing a good job, and believe it!

Meditate
Practice deep breathing and meditation exercises daily, and when you feel tension rising.

Be thankful
Showing thanks for your family, friends, and loved ones and being thankful for the positive aspects of your life has a calming affect. Not only does it give you perspective, it makes other people feel good, too.

Make a change
Sometimes the best way to obtain stress relief is to remove your source of tension. “for example, if you are in a job working at a certain pace in an environment that is objectively painful because of your boss, coworkers, and so on, and you’re doing it because you can earn 10 percent more money than doing something else, you could calculate that you might be better off doing something else,”.

Many people turn to unhealthy choices in an attempt to cope with tension, says goodstein. These include:

Substance abuse
Smoking
Overeating
Drinking alcohol to excess
Gambling

Even a seemingly harmless source of stress relief, such as computer games, can add to your problems if it cuts into the time you need to take care of yourself. Chances are that if you play computer games more than seven hours a week, you could be losing two hours of sleep a night — which will actually add to your tension in the long run. If you notice that you are starting to depend on unhealthy sources of stress relief and you can’t make a change on your own, seek help.

Some stressors are chronic and unremitting. “you may want to take a broad overview of your life to see if you have allowed yourself to be encumbered by factors that are making your life unpleasant.” if so, consider making a lifestyle change.

If you’ve been hiking, socializing, and taking care of yourself and you still have high levels of stress, talk to your doctor. Your tension could be a sign of another health issue.

Remember, you don’t have to live with tension. In fact, not only is tension unpleasant, but it is unhealthy. Keep trying out stress-relief techniques until you find the ones that work for you.

It all depends on our motivation and never give up attitude. No you will lose weight needed you change your thinking and attitude towards permanent natural weight loss. The major hurdle is self sympathy while following diet that we r cursing our body, feeling missing out on certain foods, etc. We should just feel that we are gifting ourselves good health and good looks....look at you after that,..a happier you... You should take a metabolism boosting diet....which includes lot of therapeutic foods like wheat grass, lemon grass, ginseng root extracts, cinnamon extracts etc. Take expert advice.
