low these tips to avoid airplane ear: Yawn and swallow during ascent and descent. Yawning and swallowing activate the muscles that open your eustachian tubes. You can suck on candy or chew gum to help you swallow. Use the Valsalva maneuver during ascent and descent. Gently blow, as if blowing your nose, while pinching your nostrils and keeping your mouth closed. Repeat several times, especially during descent, to equalize the pressure between your ears and the airplane cabin. Don't sleep during takeoffs and landings. If you're awake during ascents and descents, you can do the necessary self-care techniques when you feel pressure on your ears. Reconsider travel plans. If possible, don't fly when you have a cold, sinus infection, nasal congestion or ear infection. If you've recently had ear surgery, talk to your doctor about when it's safe to travel. Use an over-the-counter decongestant nasal spray. If you have nasal congestion, use a nasal decongestant about 30 minutes to an hour before takeoff and landing. Avoid overuse, however, because nasal decongestants taken over several days can increase congestion. Use oral decongestant pills cautiously. Oral decongestants may be helpful if taken 30 minutes to an hour before an airplane flight. However, if you have heart disease, a heart rhythm disorder or high blood pressure or if you've experienced possible medication interactions, avoid taking an oral decongestant unless your doctor approves. If you're a man older than age 50, you may experience serious side effects after taking decongestants containing pseudoephedrine (Actifed, Sudafed), such as urinary retention, especially if you have an enlarged prostate. If you're pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking oral decongestants. Take allergy medication. If you have allergies, take your medication about an hour before your flight. Use filtered earplugs. These earplugs slowly equalize the pressure against your eardrum during ascents and descents. You can purchase these at drugstores, airport gift shops or your local hearing clinic. If you're prone to severe airplane ear and must fly often, your doctor may surgically place tubes in your eardrums to aid fluid drainage, ventilate your middle ear, and equalize the pressure between your outer ear and middle ear.

Take hot drinks and avoid taking cold and fatty items. You may even require a short course of antibiotic that will help you. Do let me know if you even have fever or cough along with throat pain. I always have cold, I have consulted quite few doctors, their medicines stop reacting on me after a period of time. I also opted for homeopathic treatment. I am not a doctor so I am not sure if it's sinus or just allergy but I really want to get rid of it. I start sneezing at any random time in any situation, sometimes I wake up in middle of night and start sneezing.

MBBS
General Physician,
You may be having allergic or viral infection due to which you are getting cold of and on. Do warm saline gargle regularly have homemade freshly prepared lemon juice which is rich in vitamin c thereby increasing your body autoimmune system which prevents infection. You can have a tab of cetrezine as and when required. Go for regular morning walk followed by free hand exercises in clouding deep breathing exercises. Or you could be having frontal or maxillary sinusitis with nasal septum deviation. Or a nasal polyp if you could consult the ent specialist to rule out the nasal problems. For the time being you can have a tab of cetrezine as and when required.

Having foreign body sensation in throat. Some heavy feeling just below the throat. Gastric problem?
It could be due to inflammation of pharynx or throat which could be due to infection or due to reflux of gastric contents into laryngopharynx or up or sometime due to foreign body itself etc. Antiseptic gargle, antibacterials, ppi, cosome expectorant and soothing solutions like hippocid or turmpure lozengezs etc will help.

It is better if you can consult a nearby ent specialist for otoscopy as ear ache can be a symptom of a spectrum of ear conditions like earwax, otitis externa, otomycosis, aom etc with completely different treatments.

There are several things you can do to prevent a cold—they are all easy and inexpensive and worth the effort. Wash your hands often-with soap and warm water. The germs stick to the soap and get washed down the drain. Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. Cover Your Mouth and Nose When You Sneeze or Cough- Clean your hands every time you cough or sneeze. Avoid Touching Your Eyes, Nose, or Mouth-Germs are often spread when a person touches a contaminated surface and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth. Stay Home When You’re Sick-Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, don’t smoke, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food so you can fend off viruses. In general you should: -Take healthy balanced diet...like boiled eggs.daily in breakfast .. -Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. -Routinely clean and disinfect common areas of your home. -get plenty of rest so your body can use its energy to fight the cold -staying at home will keep you from spreading germs -drink plenty of liquids like herbal tea or hot broth/vegetable/tomato soups. Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can keep you from getting enough sleep -Runny Nose and Sneezing- if you have post nasal drip, gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. Drink extra fluids. (avoid sugary and high calorie drinks) -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation • Tablet Nasorest-P once/twice daily may reduce the amount of mucous. • Do steam inhalation once or twice daily Treatment:There is a gradual 1-3 day onset of symptoms. It often starts out as a sore throat, then a fever and coughing. As the cold progresses, the nasal mucus may thicken which is the last stage before the cold dries up. A cold usually lasts for a week or two. But, taking good care of yourself at home can relieve symptoms and help prevent complications if you are otherwise healthy. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn’t need medical treatment. Complications include bacterial infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs which must be treated with antibiotics. Cough-Coughing is how your body gets rid of debris and mucus from the airways during a viral infection. Unless your cough is severe or is keeping you from resting at night, it is better not to treat it. A severe cough can be treated with a cough syp, but don’t try to completely stop the cough. There are two types of coughs. Productive and non-productive or dry cough. Non-productive, dry cough. A dry, hacking cough may develop near the end of a cold. Dry coughs that follow viral colds are often worse at night and can last up to several weeks. Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough. Cough drops can sooth an irritated throat, but most don’t affect the cough. Productive cough. A productive cough is one that brings up mucus from the back of the throat or the lungs. Productive coughs should not be suppressed to the point they no longer bring up mucus. Use syrup Alex. Drink lots of water if you have a productive cough. Head and Body Aches- Take tablet dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily

Of course, the bleeding is because of the inhaling. The lining has been sufficiently damaged to cause a rupture in her nasal blood vessel. The pungent smell of whitener can not only erase print on paper, but also memory from the human brain. The toluene and trychloroethane help to intoxicate and apparently the addicts experience a kick for five to eight hours, depending on the intensity and quantity of the inhalation. According to the experts, the hydrocarbons in the deadly solvents can infuse easily with the blood and can affect the central nervous system of a person. Uncharacteristic behaviors such as mood swings and insomnia are some of the reported symptoms of solvent addiction and it may results in kidney, liver and lung damage. And what's more, just like drug addiction, at a point of unavailability of whiteners, the victims will move on to other intoxicant substances like mosquito repellents, thinners, nail polish removers etc. Which are equally, if not more, harmful. She needs to go for counseling and identify why she is resorting to this pleasure inducement and what pain she is covering up. If she is severely into it she may need detoxification and counseling at the same time. Some medication may be administered to ease the initial struggle but she could resolve it soon she resorts to other drugs or drinks to meet her obsessive-compulsive need for gratification.
