What is the best practices to cure white hair as early as possible and without any side effects.
Eat a hair-healthy diet. Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet plays a huge role in the health of your hair, so making sure your body is getting all the hair-friendly vitamins and nutrients it needs can help to prevent white hairs.Make sure you are eating plenty of lean protein (hair is made from protein), fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Drink plenty of water for hydration.More specifically, make sure you are getting enough of the vitamin B12 and the mineral zinc. If you don't feel you are getting enough in your diet naturally. Also make sure you are getting adequate amounts of vitamins A, C and E and of minerals like copper, iron and folic acid.Biotin (sometimes called vitamin H) is another important vitamin for healthy, naturally-colored hair. It is found in foods like cucumbers, oats and almonds.

Chemical Peels or Microdermabrasion: What to Choose?

Chemical peels are used for treating various skin problems. It is a process through which the upper layer of the skin is exfoliated and is replaced by a smoother, wrinkle free and youthful looking skin. The new layer of skin is usually sensitive in nature. Chemical peels are generally used for your face, neck and hand region. They include using an acidic solution for treating the affected areas of your skin.

Chemical Peels are used for treating various skin conditions, such as:

  1. Wrinkles
  2. Pigmentation (Know more about pigmentation problem)
  3. Aging
  4. Acne
  5. Damage caused by harmful rays of the sun.

Microdermabrasion is also an exfoliating procedure in which crystal sprays are used for spraying on the surface of your skin for treating the affected layer of your skin. It is used for treating skin problems that are less severe in nature. Microdermabrasion is more skin - friendly as it does not involve the use of any chemical or instruments.

Microdermabrasion is used for treating the below mentioned skin problems:

  • Acne scars (Learn more about acne and its scar)
  • Brown spots
  • Wrinkle lines and stretch marks
  • Spots that may appear due to aging
  • Blackheads

Having lots of acne marks. How to get rid of it also my face became dark these days.

MD, MBBS
General Physician, Noida
Having lots of acne marks. How to get rid of it also my face became dark these days.
If your acne have cleared and cured and dark acne marks are there, they can be removed by the application of Benoquin (Hydroxyquinone 2%) cream 2-3 times daily for 1-3 months, This cream will remove darkness only restoring original skin colour without any effect on scarring if acne marks are scarred. Scarring go by itself over years to some extent or you may consult some cosmetic plastic surgeon for scar treatment. Scar Treatment When the skin is in the process of recovering from an injury, whether the result of an accident, surgery, a burn, or acne, scarring will occur wherever multiple layers of the skin have been affected. Once a scar forms, it is permanent but may be made less visible or relocated surgically. Is Facial Scar Treatment for You? The goal of facial scar treatment is to disguise the scar, relocate it, or minimize its prominence. Important factors to be discussed with your surgeon include: Skin type and color Ethnic background Individual healing rates Age Different types of scars respond to different plastic surgery techniques. A person considering facial scar revision must understand that there is no way to remove scars completely. Timing of surgery is another important choice. Some surgeons advise against any scar revision in cases of injury for a period that might extend up to a year after the injury. This interval allows the body enough time to heal fully. Making the Decision for Scar Treatment What you should expect: Your surgeon will examine the scar in order to decide upon the proper treatment and inform you of outcomes that can be expected from facial scar revision surgery. The agreement between you and your surgeon on how to proceed is a prerequisite for successful surgery. After you both decide to proceed with scar revision, your surgeon will inform you about: a. Anesthesia b. Surgical facility c. Supportive surgery options d. Costs Because scars are highly individualistic and the patient's attitude toward scars is so personal, maximum improvement in facial scars may require more than one procedure. More than one technique may be employed. Understanding Scar Revision Surgery Following is a general description of the surgery. Remember, each patient’s individual needs and features are considered before surgery. When a scar is of the contracture type, surgery generally involves removing the scar tissue entirely. Skin flaps, composed of adjacent healthy, unscarred skin, are then lifted and moved to form a new incision line. Where a flap is not possible, a skin graft may be used. A graft involves taking a section of skin tissue from one area and attaching it to another. Time must be allowed following surgery for new blood vessels and soft tissue to form. Z-plasty is a method to move a scar from one area to another, usually into a natural fold or crease in the skin to minimize its visibility. While Z-plasty does not remove all signs of a scar, it does make it less noticeable. Dermabrasion and laser resurfacing are methods a surgeon uses to make "rough or elevated" scars less prominent by removing part of the upper layers of skin with an abrading tool or laser light. Clearly, the scar will remain, but it will be smoother and less visible. Keloid or hypertrophic scars are often treated first with injections of steroids to reduce size. If this is not satisfactory, the scars can be removed surgically, and the incisions closed with fine stitches, often resulting in less prominent scars. Treatment of Pimples:- Acne/pimples are easily treatable within 7 days to 1 month. Even dark spots would go away themselves within 3-6 months or you may use Benoquin (Hydroxyquinone 2%) cream for 1 month to get rid of black spots once pimples have got cured. Salicylic acid should never be applied on pimples as it being acid would cause damage to nearby skin and may cause scarring and black spots. Acne or Pimples result due to hypersensitive skin, arrested growth of sebaceous glands, high androgen production, high sebum production, frequent blocking of sebaceous glands with subsequent bacterial infection of sebaceous glands. You are producing more androgens but that is good for your sexuality. Excess androgens may cause both hyper-sexuality or night-falls and pimples but we can't give you ant-androgens because they may cause feminization of your body and mentality. Androgens cause more sebum production in sebaceous glands of your skin of face and cause pimples. More sebum production causes oiliness and dust particles stick easily to oily skin closing pores of sebaceous glands and sebum is stuck inside causing enlargement of gland as pimple. If it gets infected, it may develop pus making white heads. Some times skin is very sensitive and applying chemicals or drugs in the form of cosmetics and may result into pimples. In some people, skin growth is slow or arrested along with being oversensitized or associated with high production of androgens. This result into development of reddish pink pimples which grow very slowly but new ones keep on erupting and the whole face is filled with hundreds of reddish pink pimples. In some cases, pimples spread beyond face to neck, shoulder, back and even chest. If you pinch pimples, nearby skin gets damaged and heals by growth of new skin that contains more melanin due to overgrowth of melanocytes resulting into blackish pigmentation with or without scar. For pimples you do following things: Wash your face with mild soap like Lux, Rexona etc 3-4 times in day time, at the time of sleeping, at least once in night if got awaken and just after getting up from sleep. You should keep your face free from oiliness due to sebum on your face. Take AD capsules (containing fat-soluble Vitamin-A) 20 capsule every week. Vitamin A will diminish sebum production and enhance growth of skin and pimples and pimples will be shed off rapidly. (you get a bottle of 1000 AD capsules for around Rs100/-) You can also apply local cream or gel of Adaptalene (marketed by the name of acnelene) on your face. If you apply they refrain from sunlight. Adaptalene is also a retinoid like Vitamin -A. With Vit-A or adaptalene, pimples come outwards rapidly giving impression that problem of pimples is being enhanced. But keep patience. Pimples will shed off within a week. Tretinoin is also used for pimples but don't use it as it causes hyper-pigmentation. If the pimples get infected with pus, take Azithromycin 500 mg on empty stomach once daily for 5-days under medical supervision. Never pinch pimples but let them shed off or fall themselves otherwise blackening will occur and scar may also be formed. Do not apply cosmetics, cleansing lotions, sun-screens, chemical lotions or solutions or medicated soaps to already over-sensitized skin of yours. Use mild soaps like lux, rexona etc or cetrim soap congaing cetrimide. Or you may use besan paste or multani mitti to remove oiliness from face. Take less fats that provides triglycerides in blood which get converted into sebum in sebaceous glands. Take plenty of water to keep you hydrated. Consume green vegetables, salad and fresh seasonal fruits. Consume Green tea regularly. Divert your mind from sexual activities and pornographic literature or wash your face frequently during these activities as these activities increase androgen secretion in body which increase oiliness of face. Take proper and regular sleep in a disciplined life. Remain happy. Get rid of anxiety & tensions. Control your ambitions, envies and jealousies. Do regular morning evening walks and/or exercises. Black spots or pigmentation of acne/pimplea may subside itself within 3-6 months after pimples have cured. You may apply Benoquin (Hydroxyquinone 2%) cream for 1 month to get rid of them.

5 natural ways to treat corn

Corns are formed when our hands or feet try to defend themselves from some injury, forming a callused shield instead. The outermost skin comes together in a pile and forms a strong cover made of dead cells, if an area is rubbed too often. This usually happens if one is wearing ill-fitted shoes. Some home remedies to take care of these corns or calluses are:

1. Rub with pumice stone - this can be done after a shower or bath, as the skin is wet and soft now. Rub the area with a pumice stone to remove the dead cells. Don't rub harshly in a single attempt. Instead, rub mildly every day until the all the dead cell comes out. If the corn is very thick, this process might take a few weeks.
2. Apply castor oil - castor oil acts as a softener. One can either soak the area with castor oil dipped in cotton to use the oil with a cord pad.
3. Wear comfortable shoes and socks - wear socks with shoes that are comfortable and have thick cushioned soles. Ensure that your shoe fits you well and that it is wide enough for your toes to be placed comfortable inside.
4. Use bread mask - rub the corn slightly with the pumice stone so that the loose dead skin falls off. Soak a piece of bread in half a cup of apple cider vinegar. When well soaked, put the piece of bread on the corn, wrap it with gauze and secure it with an adhesive tape. The bread can also be mashed into a paste.
5. Lemon and olive - miss a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice with two teaspoons of olive oil. Add to this, some baking soda to form a thick paste. Apply this paste on the corn and cover it with gauze.

I am 20 years old and I have small pimples on my face and on forehead. Can you advise me how to get rid of this ?

I am 20 years old and I have small pimples on my face and on forehead. Can you advise me how to get rid of this ?
do let me know if you also have blackheads with pimples? and what current medications and remedies you already tried to treat acne? acne is a common problem in teen. Almost everybody will get pimples during their teen years. First, don't try to self treat acne. Some popular nonprescription acne lotions, cleansers and other skin products can cause a serious reaction (rare), mostly it is normal to have acne in teenage. For pimples it's important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface, avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin e or any self prescribed preparations on scars or pimples. Increasing the intake of omega-3 fatty acids through a diet significantly rich in fish and seafood results in lower rates of an inflammatory disease like acne. A low-glycemic-index diet also reduces acne risk. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.
