My 1 year old german shepherd is suffering from babesiosis although I never spotted any ticks on him. He is on antibiotics and crocin TDS How can I check his temperature?

MVSc (Ph.D)
Veterinarian,
Do not become yourself doctor or assume without base, to be a babesiosis case, there are certain symptoms like high fever, severe conjunctivitis, urine dark colored like coffee, & you should take the blood for diagnosis of this disease, to lab. The ticks in the night bite & go & can not be found on the body, what your doctor said is correct, he may be having some other problem also, and you are treating for that. His temperature can be taken by keeping the thermometer in the anus,

Please Suggest something for my 2.5 months old german shepherd for a shiny coat. Its coat is dull and rough although I brush it regularly and feed him non veg and roti with curd. Please. Suggest some home made food not pedigree or market items if possible.

Please give him fish oil and also possible food of hills science plan large breed puppy food all the time as per the standards. With dog food you cant acheive these things as they require 20 times more protien than human as the growth rate of dog is higer they attain weight of 30-40 kg in just 12 months were as human it takes more years normally (diet contains what we need) and 10 times more fat and 15 times vitamins and omega fatty acids for hairy breeds. Its then upto you to change you r mind set in feeding your pet.

I am having a family of rabbits which consist 5 members and each of them having same problem. On there nose and ears they are having disease which looks ugly after then the hairs are also falling. So please give some tips to remove that disease.

M.V.Sc (Surgery)
Veterinarian, Mohali
It seems skin infection to your rabbit. First of all separate the health puppies. You should clip the hair from infected area. Then you should use antiseptic ointment or lotion on that area. Like cipladine.

My pug dog has skin allergy and doctors told that it is a scabies. I have been doing many treatment for some months but its doesnt work so what can i do for my little pug ?

MVSC
Veterinarian, Hyderabad
Scabies or skin problem in dogs takes a bit longer time to cure. Give your dog a well nutrition diet but slightly reduce quantity of protein in the diet for some days and observe. Trim the nails so that it wont scratch and increase the infection further. Continue wokazole and maintain hygiene at her surroundings. Try to avoid phenol compounds at home for moping the floor.
