Hi, I recently completed one year of treatment for Spinal TB with 100% Adherence to medicines. During the treatment, I never had any pain which initially existed and was able to lead a very normal life like others. Once I stopped medicine, I started feeling slight pain at the same place where it all started one year back. While the pain is not as bad as it was, I am just worried about why it still exists. I was advised to go for Physio and attended IFT sessions which considerably reduced paid but I still feel a pain like a pinch between my buttocks and lower spine. Any advice will be of great help. Let me know if I should see a Neuro to ensure my nerves are in good shape after being infected with TB bacteria.

The most common reason for persisting pain might be the residual damage that tb might have caused to the spine in the form of fibrosis or scars. If you develop again symptoms like severe pain, numbness. Weakness fever night sweats weight loss you should be worried about tb again other wise it might be sequalae. Its always better to take concerned specialist advice, so no harm in taking neuro consultation.

Hi, for your nasal allergy issue, you may try the following: (a) use a paediatrics saline nasal spray twice daily (b) identify allergens that trigger allergy in your nose/ allergic rhinitis and avoid them. (c) make sure you keep your nostrils clean. Wash with water daily. (d) take a glass of warm water, to which a tsp of pure honey and third of a lemon are mixed properly, daily morning empty stomach. (e) take half a glass of warm water to which 1/4 tsp freshly ground turmeric and a piece of black pepper (crushed) are mixed properly, post dinner, for 5 days. (f) streamline your diet and lifestyle. Focus on fresh fruits and leafy greens, restrict spicy, oily, fatty and flesh foods. (g) stay relaxed and keep your stress levels low. Daily yoga, pranayam and meditation help de-stress. Please follow steps (d) & (e) as mentioned above only if you have no allergy or other issues taking them. As regards your issue with bone, you may please consult an ent specialist who needs to examine you clinically and advise diagnostics as appropriate to figure out any constitutional deformities or any sort of growth in your nose that is causing problems and then advise accordingly. Hope this help you.

Tonsillitis - Easy Home Remedies to Help You Treat it

DNB (ENT), Diploma - Diploma - DLO - Rhino-Laryngology, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Delhi
Tonsillitis - Easy Home Remedies to Help You Treat it

Tonsillitis is a condition, which is characterized by infection of the tonsils in your throat. The tonsils are a pair of lymph nodes that are situated in the throat; its primary function is to protect the body from various infections. Although the disorder can occur at any age, it is majorly common among children. A large number of bacteria or viruses can cause this disorder, but the most serious symptoms occur when it is caused by the streptococcal bacteria.

Causes

The first defense mechanism of the body is made up of the tonsils. They synthesize white blood cells which fight against infections. Although tonsils combat these infections, at times, they can fall prey to the same, thus resulting in tonsillitis. Tonsillitis can be caused by both virus and bacteria; however, it is mostly caused by the former. Kids and school going children are very vulnerable to this disorder as they can come in contact with harmful viruses and bacteria very easily.

Symptoms

You will experience symptoms such as a sore throat, bad breath and have difficulty in speaking. Swelling of the tonsils will also make swallowing of food a difficult affair. Other symptoms of tonsillitis are stomach cramps, fever and headaches. The neck and the jaw may also feel tender due to the swollen lymph nodes.

Treatment

If the symptoms are mild, then it usually does not require any specific treatment. For severe symptoms, antibiotics are prescribed to combat the bacteria that caused the infection in the first place. Chronic cases of this disorder warrant a surgery known as tonsillectomy. This is a surgical procedure to remove the tonsils. In case of dehydration, intravenous fluids are administered.

In addition to these treatment methods, there are certain home remedies that you can follow. The tips you can follow are:

  1. Keep yourself well hydrated
  2. Use a humidifier
  3. Gargle with lukewarm water mixed with salt, regularly

My friend is 22 years old and has a habit of smoking and drinking sometimes and 2 days before he coughed up with little blood from his mouth and he is having pain in his throat .what might be the reason behind this .is it dangerous? i need your help.

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry, Clinical Elective
Psychiatrist, Jaipur
I think he should get a chest X ray done to rule out some problems. But coughing up blood should be taken seriously. It could be just pharyngitis or laryngitis, but more sinister cause of coughing up blood has to be ruled out. Consult a doctor in person as soon as possible.

Ethmoid sinus problem, like sinusitis, can cause a pain which makes you believe it is coming from the eye. Actually, the origin of the pain is behind the eyes. Medications prescribed for sinusitis will also relieve your eye pain within 1 or 2 days. Otherwise, if pain in the eye persists, it needs an ophthalmologist consultation immediately.

Hi Sir I am suffering from bronchial asthma since last 10 yrs. I am 25 years old. I am taking Montair-LC and Seroflo-250 daily. Could you suggest something which can be beneficial for me.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi, asthma is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Medication: bronchitis/ asthma can be treated well with homoeopathic medicines completely, only need to be regular with the medication and avoid those foods/ things to which you are allergic to for sometime. Keep taking your already on going medication, reduce it gradually and slowly once homoeopathic starts acting. Take bakson's astha-aid drops/ 10-15 drops in 1/2 cup water/ thrice d day for 1 month. Report me back after a month.

Having mild asthmatic symptoms during season changes or during sore throat /cold. Persists for few days and need asthalin inhallers for 4/5 times in a day. Age around 45 years, male and it observed from the age of 10 years. Tried several options but of no use. Is there any complete cure or continue to have levecetrazin / azithral and inhaller for few days during the symptoms.

MD PULMONARY, DTCD
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
As it is seasonal,it is more likely due allery to allergens. Get skin prick test/phadiatop allergy testing done to r/o allergy .Kindly take budamate 200 2puff twice/day with spacer with telekast f 1 tab/day during the season instead of using asthalin inhaler,as it s excessive use can effect your heart. Ashalin is for emergency use only.
