I am 35 year and I am surfing from TIA from last 3 months and all reports will be normal .Time four five days my right hand , right leg and tung not working properly.

MD - General Medicine, MBBS
General Physician,
If you had a Tia 3 months back, it looks like your are having a stroke ( blocked blood supply to the brain). Please consult a physician or neurologist immediately. Since you have developed this, at such a young age, the cause for it also has to be found out, or else you might have an attack again.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Nocturnal emission or nightfall is a natural body procedure whereby the stored semen is released by your body. There is nothing unnatural about this and there is nothing unhealthy about it. Please understand. I suggest online counselling. Take care.

I'm 26 years old male, and I have migraine problem since last 8 years, could you please suggest the solution to get rid of this?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, Self-care measures can help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation techniques may include progressive muscle relaxation, meditation or yoga. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. Medication: Take Bakson's Mig Aid tablet/ 1 tablet 3 times a day.

Tonsillectomy - When Should You Go For It?

MBBS, MS - ENT
ENT Specialist, Delhi
Tonsillectomy - When Should You Go For It?

The tonsils are soft tissue masses which are located at the back of your throat, usually at the pharynx. The tonsils are masses which are part of the lymphatic system that helps fight infections. However, tonsils can themselves become inflamed and cause a lot of pain. Tonsillectomy is a procedure to remove the tonsils and relieve pain.

Why is tonsillectomy performed?
A few decades back, tonsillectomy was a routine surgery performed to relieve any pain within the tonsils. This method of treatment however has changed over the past few decades as pain medications for inflammation have improved vastly. However, tonsillitis is still performed in many cases wherein it tends to cause acute problems. Some of the cases it is applicable in are:

  1. Chronic bad breath problems caused by recurrent inflammation of the tonsils
  2. Recurrent sore throats caused by tonsillitis
  3. It is also done along with dental surgery for correcting teeth with imperfect positioning
  4. Abscess formation in the mouth
  5. Upper airway being obstructed due to inflammation, thus causing difficulty with sleeping, snoring, or causing sleep apnea (irregular breathing during sleep)
  6. Ear infections being regularly caused by inflammation of the tonsils

Other reasons why it may be recommended
Tonsillectomy may be also be recommended when there are no indications of problems but tonsillitis and other infections keep cropping up too regularly. This affects children and can make them sick or keep them in pain regularly. Some of these other indications are mentioned below:

  1. Tonsil infections and inflammations happening too frequently within a year
  2. Tonsillitis is caused by bacterial infection wherein the antibiotics aren’t effective
  3. Formation of pus in the form of an abscess within or around the tonsils which keep forming even after repeated drainage or administering antibiotics

Possible complications and risks
Like any other form of surgery, tonsillectomy has certain risks associated with it as well. However, these are very rare. Some of these risks and complications are mentioned as follows –

  1. Swelling of the mouth: The tongue and the soft palate or the roof of the mouth may swell, resulting in breathing difficulties an few hours after the surgery.
  2. Infection: As is the case with any surgery, infections may occur in rare cases, which may require further treatment.
  3. Adverse reactions to anesthetics: Many patients exhibit an adverse reaction to anesthetics and may develop symptoms such as a headache, nausea, muscle soreness and frequent vomiting.
  4. Bleeding during surgery or healing: Although it is rare, bleeding during and after surgery has been reported after all sorts of procedures and it may occur with tonsillectomy as well. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ENT specialist.

Hello Dr. I am 27 year old male . Yesterday evening first time I have checked my blood pressure unknowingly and the result came is shocking 168/100. Mr. Lybrate-user, some times bp may show variation during the day, but that is not as wide as in your case. So please check the bp after a day or two, at the same time. If it shows higher number (>140/90mmhg), then there may be a need for considering treatment for the same, mainly because you are too young to have high bp. As regards diabetes, with 105 mg blood sugar, you seem to have no such problem. But because your father has diabetes, you need to be very careful. For that you have to adapt a modified lifestyle. That is to maintain normal weight (bmi <23 kgs/m2), your present bmi is 30.46 kgs/m2 which shows grade 1 obesity. This is the major contributor for increased bp and can lead to diabetes. Your ideal body weight has to be 80 kgs. Plus a daily exercise of over 1 hour is needed. Also dietary intake has to be based on 80 kgs and extent of daily physical activity. No smoking and alcohol. This life style can keep you away from high blood pressure and diabetes. Thanks.

Many benefits of green tea are shared. But can you share some brand of green tea we can use and how to brew it actually? or can we have leaves from market sold as green tea leaves?

Diploma in Family Medicine, Fellowship in Diabetology, Diploma in Diabetology, FCCP, MBBS
General Physician,
Most of the brands of green tea available in the market are ok. Some brands are lemon flavoured, ginger flavoured, that will add taste to the tea. Brewing; 1. Boil the water >200degrees c 2. If dip tea, dip for 10 minutes, stir and drink it. 3. If powdered leaves put in the boiled water for 10 minutes, filter and drink it. 4. If you are not diabetic add one teaspoon of honey, good for health. Leaves are not sold as green tea leaves in market. If you go yo some tea estate you can get as a friendly gesture.
