My teeth are almost yellow any toothpaste or medicine for making it clean and white.

Dentist, Mohali
You may try snowdent toothpaste. It creates mild bleaching effect to whiten your teeth. Or you may make fresh paste by mixing baking soda and water, put it on your tooth brush and brush your teeth (not more that 2 minutes). This home remedy may help you to whiten your teeth. If still doesn't help you then ask your dentist about professional bleaching of teeth.

I am not able to open my mouth wide from last 5/6 months. Only 2 fingers I can put in my mouth. When I am trying to open widely. I am getting pain. I used to have tobacco. What may be the cause.

Dentist, Navi Mumbai
Hello lybrate-user, the first thing you have to do is - stop tobacco. It's all because of it. Tobacco contains various cancerous products in it. When you take it for long time it affect your cheek mucosa initially and then the muscles. Because of muscle stiffness you are not able to open your mouth.

Gum Pain Home Remedies
Avoid Aspirin

Your friends mean well when they tell you to put aspirin on your sore gums. But don’t listen to this old wives’ tale. Never put aspirin directly on your gums. Yes, it might provide some temporary relief. But aspirin is a highly caustic chemical, and it is irritating to the gum tissue. It could cause a fairly serious acid burn.

Dentist, Nagpur
99% of the plaque can be removed by the use of waterjets along with daily brushing.

Fowl smell is commonly due to deposits over teeth surface. Visit a dentist for scaling and polishing of teeth. For redness of eyes you have to consult a opthalmologist or eye doctor.

I have recently done root canal to set right a decayed tooth. Even at that time I had sensitivity in the teeth around the affected teeth. After root canal sensitivity is not gone. What is the way out. Any special tooth paste required to be used?

Dentist, Nizamabad
Hello sir, your age can also be the factor for sensitivity. Desensitising toothpaste can relieve you, but I suggest you to consult your dentist.

My colleague's son reported tooth ache. Pathology tests revealed cancer. He is nonsmoker and do not use alcohol. He died at 47 last week. Why his health worsened? Is it due to poor food habits?

BDS, MDS, MBA (Healthcare), FAM
Dentist, Hyderabad
Hello Sir, Deeply saddened by the news. My condolences to the family. Oral Cancer can happen to any one at all and without a reason. But there are certian factors which can increase the risk to getting one, like tobacco usage both smoke and smokeless form, poor general health, poor diet etc etc. Or in rare cases it could be genetic too. We as doctors take it upon ourselves to reach out to people and educate and create awareness regarding Oral Cancer. We propogate timely and regular oral health check ups to catch the problem in an ealy stage and then adequately treat it or maybe even some times identify risk factors and help in preventing it altogether. So my advice, as has always been, to get regular oral Health check up done and consider the recommendations of the dentist. After all as they say "Prevention is beter than Cure" Take care! Cheers!

Staining of teeth are due to oil and turmeric content of food. You cannot avoid staining. But you can minimize it by regular rinses after your meals.

Dentist, Delhi
If cavity is deep and is paining, your should get rct done to save the tooth. Else you will have to get this tooth removed. If it's the last tooth then you can get it removed.

Brush twice a day, keep tooth problems away: brushing twice a day removes the tiny left out food particles from the mouth and keeps it fresher and cleaner.

My teeth are continuously becoming yellowish in color as water of my living area contains more than enough fluoride wht to do.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.
