Frequent Urination - Can it be a Sign Enlarged Prostate

The condition of enlarged prostate occurs due to the enlargement of a man’s prostate gland, with the passage in time. Also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), it is more common in men over the age of 60. Some cases might have symptoms and others may be symptomless. Although the causes are relatively unknown, it is evident that BPH is not a form of cancer, neither does it cause cancer. The prostate is located below the bladder and is responsible for producing the fluid needed by semen. The growth of the prostate tissue that is associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia begins near the inner prostate which is a tissue ring around the urethra. Its growth is generally inward.

Causes
It is of common knowledge that in males, the urine originates from the bladder and flows through the urethra. BPH is a condition where the prostate experiences a benign i.e. non cancerous enlargement which leads to blockage of urine flow through the urethra (the urinary duct). The resultant enlargement, caused due to the gradual multiplication of cells, subjects the urethra to extra pressure. Further narrowing of the urethra causes more contraction of the bladder, resulting in the urine being forcefully pushed out of the body.

With time, the condition leads to the bladder muscles gradually becoming thicker, stronger and oversensitive. Contraction occurs even due to the presence of small amounts of urine, giving rise to frequent needs of urination. At one point, the bladder muscle is unable to overcome the effects of the narrowed urethra. Due to this, urine does not pass properly and the urethra is not emptied.

Some of the common symptoms of enlarged prostate include:
1. Frequent urination
2. Urgency to urinate
3. Difficulty during urination
4. A slow or weak urinary stream
5. Requirement of extra effort to urinate
6. Interrupted sleep due to need of urination

Further risks
Sometimes, when the bladder is not emptied completely, a risk of urinary tract infections develops. Some other serious problems which can be a result of enlarged prostate include blood in urine, bladder stones as well as acute urinary retention (inability to urinate). In some rare cases, kidney and/or bladder damage might also result from such a condition. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Urinary tract infection can completely cured with homoeopathic medicines. Homoeopathic medicine like can notharis, apis, hydrangea, bell, equisetum etc can completely cure the infection within 1 to 3 days if properly taken as per dose instructed. Along with medicines you must drink water of 2 to 4 litres per day and also hygiene is important too. Nothing to worry. 100% rapid and effective results with homoeopathic medicines.

Treatment does not depend on size of prostate but on the symptoms you have. Start taking tamsulosin dutasteride combination tablet. Get an ultrasound of kub with post void residual volume. Depending upon your symptoms we can change the medicine but no advantage of increase the dose.

Hi sir mai jab peshab karta hoo to last me ek do drops ho jati hai reson kya hai.

Hi sir mai jab peshab karta hoo to last me ek do drops ho jati hai reson kya hai.
1.It is a common find in some people and the cause is not known. However one should know that urethra is not a straight tube. It has a "s" shaped curve and some times few drops of urine accumulate at the curve which drips after urination. Try milking the urethra (simple shaking of penis will not help) by applying pressure at a point behind the scrotum where you can yourself feel the urethra like a tube. Accumulated drops of urine will come out 2.Do keggel exercise Keggel exercise is a pelvic floor exercise. A) contract the muscle which you use to stop urinating b.squeeze for 3 sec, relax for 3 sec c).repeat 10-15 times per session d).Do it 3 times daily. 3.consult doctor for further advice.

Since you have already consulted many specialists and found no relief, a detailed analysis of symptoms and investigations will be required. In most of such cases chronic backache is often the culprit and addiction to pain killers is the cause of gastric ulcers and erosions. Back strengthening exercises and plenty of fluids can be helpful for you. The cycle of chronic pain has to be broken witl analgesics and anti-inflammatory agents.

Tips for curing kidney stones:: 1. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, cold drinks, pickles, fish, poultry, meat, spinach, and chocolate. 2. Avoid sour, heavy, and dry food. 3. Increase intake of liquids like water, juice, soup, lime water lemon soda etc. 4. Be sure to drink enough water each day. Usually 1 to 2 liters of water per day is adequate. 5. Drink more if you are perspiring heavily, working outdoors, the weather is hot, etc. 6. Increase the use of barley, horse gram (a type of bean), ginger, and brown rice or parboiled rice. 7. Avoid suppressing urges to urinate and defecate. 9. Boil 10-12 basil leaves in 1 cup of water for 15 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey in it and take twice a day. Pls send ur USG report becoz medication for stones depends upon size number and location of stones and can be given after USG.

I am an 18 year old female who is suffering from some discomfort in my urinary tract. In the middle of February I started having sensations of incomplete and frequent peeing going to the toilet more often than normal. I consumed a herbal Ayurvedic syrup for a few days and my discomfort stopped. The same problem started again in the month of March and April. I find that whenever I release vaginal fluids such as during menstruation or ovulation these urinary symptoms come again. In May I started to take antibiotic for the first time but it did not work and then I switched to taking cranberry and D mannose capsules. It worked to some extent as I could sleep reasonably well at night without having to urgently pee all the time. But when my periods started the symptoms are worse with more frequent and incomplete voiding. I have NO pain nor have I experienced bleeding. My urine is a healthy pale yellow color as I drink lot of water but the peeing is frequent and incomplete and I feel a constant pressure to avoid lot of the time. I don't have other bodily symptoms. I am worried what all this could mean.

If not done yet, you may need to do a urine culture and sensitivity test to find out infection and the type of organism in the urinary bladder and the antibiotic to which these organisms are sensitive so that instead of a blind approach, a definite exact treatment can be initiated. If not done this may become chronic urinary tract infection and haphazard use of antibiotics may make the organisms resistant to more of them and in the end we may not be left with any good antibiotic to use for treatment. Good hygiene of the private parts is essential as you have yourself stated that after menses this problem flares up.

Presently you are using medicines for UTI, so continue to use the same. Was it started after getting the urine culture test? If so let me know the report with the sensitivity priority. Presently take plenty of water i.e. 3 - 3.5 litres in a day and plenty of coconut water. Regarding the patch and the itching for the time being do not use any ointments as they may be causing the urinary infection. So keep the area dry and during the day you can apply talcum powder to maintain the area dry. If you can come back in private chat we can discuss further regarding the required medicines. Good luck.

Yes, this could well be a fissure. Anal fissure improves with general measures but may require surgery. The general measures I would suggest are 1. Take lot of vegetables & fruits in your diet 2. Avoid chillies & spices 3. Take lot of fluids 4. Avoid constipation 5 periodically do anal exercises (alternately contracting & relaxing the buttocks, anal area & upper thighs) 6. Take sitz bath 3-4 times a day. This means sitting in a tub of warm water & doing anal exercises 7. Atleast once get it examined by a general surgeon.

Please maintain hygiene. Use condoms while performing sex also look if your husband is having uti or not as its common that he can be affected--if so both of you need to be treated at the same time. Please apply olive oil/coconut oil oil on the affected area to ease itching.
