I am suffering with ankylosis spondylitis already left hip replaced right now my spine movements getting lost right hip movement is also difficult any permanent cure for this disease?

At present no permanent cure for ankylosing spondylosis. There are newer drugs but you need to select drugs carefully as many have side effects. Preventing or controling further damage is important. Swimming walking yoga bhujangasan is important.

I had chikungunya on 6 sept. Extreme joint pain, fever for three days, rashes ,then peeling of skin. I only took pcm. I became ok. But joints are still paining so much that I was bed ridden, all my limbs are absolutely stiff. It is going to be two months and there is no relief. Rather joint pain is bad. I took 1.aceclofenac (100 mg) once a day and ranitidine 150 mg, for 3 days .then after some days for a day. And then today 1 dose. How often can I take this medicine, that is safe for me kindly guide me.

Dear Lybrate user It takes time to recover. Whenever you feel severe joint pain you take medicine tab. Nimica plus suggested by your doctor and add one kiwi fruit in routine. Take plenty of water, juicy fruits and fresh fruit juice, avoid banana, try to have semisolid diet such as sabudana kichri, daliya, etc. Instud of chapati. If symptoms getting worse day by day then you should visit to your doctor again.

Hi I can understand your problem. For pain and swelling apply cold pack for 20 min. Thrice a day for 5 days. There are various reasons for shoulder pain and there are different non surgical treatment options for same in physiotherapy. Pain in back is becoming very common days it is because of normal day to day activity and lifestyle. Especially found lot of females complaining of back pain because of there day to day working and pressure. There could be many reasons for back pain. Many of the problems occur for which we are not aware. I understand your pain. Let me recommend you the treatment as well as the precautions you can take at home to get away your backache. Precautions: 1. Avoid forward bending, if required then bend your knees first and then bend forward. 2. Avoid weight lifting. 3. Sit in chairs or car seats with proper back support. 4. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back like sidelying. 5. Get enough vit d from sun as vit d keep bones strong including spine, 6. Drink plenty of water to enhance the inter vertebral disks 7. Avoid standing in the one position for a long time. 8. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back. Treatment- 1. Apply ice or heat which ever suits you directly to the area of low back pain will decrease swelling and inflammation, and ease your discomfort. Apply it for 10 to 15 minutes only. 2. Relaxing for 5 minutes after ice or heat treatment. Massage - ask someone to massage your painful area using fingers or thumb. Massage using kneading technique. Slightly press the thumb and start rotating as it helps to induce relaxation, relieve pain, and reduce levels of stress chemicals, such as cortisol and noradrenaline. It will give you pain relief for time being. 3. After massage again relax for 5 min and apply any pain relieving ointment eg - volini or oraflame gel etc. Make sure not to do massage with the gel, it should not penetrate the body. Just a topical application of gel should be done. 4. Again relax your body for 5 minutes and perform some normal back extension and hamstring stretching exercises to get relief from your pain. While performing exercises if pain occurs then would recommend you to stop doing exercise. Massage or slightly rub the painful area and consult your near by physio to diagnose the actual cause of the pain as he/she can guide you proper exercise plan which will be beneficial for you after checking grade of your back pain. For any doubt please inform. Best regards.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Try putting hot packs to the painful area for 15 mins then do stretching exs for calf hamstring snd quadriceps muscles and then put ice for 15 mins also find the root cause pf pain. Sometimes its referred from the back. Physiotherapy can help. Good luck.

I am a 35 year old male, and having right hand and shoulder pain from about 3 months. It started with neck pain, which went down in the center of the back, and then in the right shoulder and then now is in right hand and right shoulder. Its a vibrating pain with sometimes numbness in the fingers and palm. Initially had taken neurokind g prescribed by family physician, when there was no improvement for 1 month, I consulted a neurologist who got the mri scan done and as per the report - screening of cervical spine reveals loss of lordosis with anterior and posterior osteophytosis. Disc dessication noted at all levels. Diffuse disc bulges noted at c3-4, c5-6 and c6-7 (bilateral paramedian) levels causing bilateral foraminal stenosis at c6-7 with bilateral c7 nerve root compression and thecal sac indentation. Central canal and spinal cord appears normal. Incidental finding: mucosal thickening is noted in the bilateral sphenoid sinuses-suggestive of sinusitis. Prescribed maxgalin 75 g one in the night with soft neck collar to be worn for 3 weeks and shoulder exercises. When there was no much improvement nerve conduction study was done. Result - present ncs is suggestive of mild right ulnar sensory axonopathy. Maxgalin 75 increased to two in a day for 2 weeks continuing the soft collar neck. Please advise what should I do?

It could be due to cervical spondylosis this is quite a common condition rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take bio d3 max 1tab odx10days ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days do neck & back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Use of cervical collar will give you relief. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.

I have a neck pain on the right side of my neck normally. The problem is it just not only pains, but also gives me an embarrassment sometimes by forcing itself to turn to one side. Meaning, my chin area moves towards the left and the forehead towards the right. Other words, my head and neck slightly slants towards the right (one side) and this happens only at times when I am very cautious of being noticed or even when I go for a hair cut. My barber aligns my head to the position he wants me in, for few minutes, but I am unable to hold it for long. It automatically forces and turns to one side. This is one occasion. The others are when I have a discussion with my Director of the Company where I work. I become so conscious about my neck, that even if I try turning and aligning it back to normal, I am unable to do so. Usually If I am nervous, I think this keeps happening. It is something to do with not just my neck or back. I guess, its something to do with the set of nervous from the upper shoulder to the head upwards from behind my right ear. I have tried my best to explain. In case if any other information is required, I can probably take a video when it happens and post the same. Its quite embarrassing for me, so I humbly request your suggestions or guidance accordingly.

Stiffness & pain in back & other joints is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Shoulder pain k liye This next exercise is also one I find myself regularly giving to most of my classical sub acromial pain patients (I don't use impingement as I think it's a misleading term and not a diagnosis). I usually give this exercise when the patient has a clear reduction in pain with the use of the Scapular Assistance Test as described by Jeremy Lewis (source) or in those that I think have poor scapular movement, although links to scapular position and movement causing pain and pathology is tenuous (see Chris Littlewoods piece on this here), as is our ability to spot it. However, most people I see with classical sub acromial pain tend to have weak posterior shoulder muscles and this is a great exercise to start addressing this. The prone Y lift is simply done by lying on your front, on a bed or bench, with your arm hanging over the edge, then lift the arm up and out to raise it above your head, and I like to instruct that the thumb is on top pointing upwards to ensure the shoulder is in external rotation (see image below). Again as with the isometrics the exact angle of the lift can be varied, but for best results the research says 120° of abduction produces the stongest contraction in the supraspinatus (source) and upper/lower trapezius muscles (source). I also place a big emphasis on the eccentric action of this an most all other shoulder exercises. Eccentrics are known to produce higher forces in musculotendious units than concentric actions and maintain or increase myofibril length, all essential and positive effects of rehab.

Don't assume anything. Get a check up done first by an orthopedic doctor. Mostly while gymming, if any injury happens, it usually is a microtear which gets healed slowly itself by giving the part rest, ice and protection. But to know its minor or major you need to first get a check up done.
