Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Why not discuss with me in a video conference? I have pain in my left elbow since yesterday. It is potentiating when hyperextended. What should I do?

You have given 1 day history of Elbow pain which could just be a ligamentous sprain, or pain of epicondylitis etc. You can start with gentle anti inflammatory medication, ice packs for local application, activity modification and see how it pans out next 3-4 days otherwise we might have to get few investigations done. I am having a volar locking plate on my left arm as I suffered from a distal radius fracture. Is it necessary to remove the plate after 1 or 2 years? If not what will be the possible complications?

At your age, it is advisable to remove implant after fracture union. Because if implant removal planned after more than 8-10 yrs, then it difficult to remove implant. Also if any untoward incident happens in future on same forearm, then it will be tough time for any doctor to treat.

Hello doctor. I am 33 years old. I am working in retail since last 9 years. My job is to stand 10 to 12 hours a day. From past 2 years I am having very bad pain on both my heels of my foot. I can not stand for more then 1 hour. My pains are unbearable. I have tried some medicine but nothing worked out for me. Morning when I wake up from my sleep, I can not just stand and walk. I have to sit and wait for sometime and then walk. I have even done my uric acid test, its normal. Please help me, I use to have alterday tablets but now I have stop taking it. I have even tried wearing doctor soles inside my shoes but that too was of no use, my pains are still there. I have now resigned from my job of sales from past 2 months and now I am sitting at home but it is still paining. Recently I bought dyna par plus spray for my foot, guess what, the pain is still not leaving my foot. I will be very happy and grateful if someone can help me. Thank you.

It requires detailed investigation and examination. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

With so much travelling by motor cylce you r bound to get back pain I advice you to take rest for a week and do ice fomentation and start doing some back sternghening exercises.

Dear user since you Hv lost weight, it is bcoz of that only. When we tend to loose weight we also loose lean body mass which is made of calcium, magnissum etc. U may be having nutritional defiencies. Kindly add good supplement of calcium magnissum proteins. For your pains. Thnx.

Dear Lybrate user, pav ki Nas chadhana aur Dard hona ye cheeze calcium aur potassium ki kami se hote hai. Calcium aur potassium wali sabjiya, eggs, nariyal Pani ka istemal chalu kijiye. I am a 45 year old woman and suddenly developed pain in my left shoulder and left arm while sleeping leading to numbness in left hand index finger. Mri report says degenerative cervical spondylitis. I am getting physiotherapy done from a highly qualified person but pain still persists. I work online from home and have to put in 6-8 hours every day. Should I start working, hope this does not aggravate.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually you have issues with your cervical spine which could be related to your work pattern. You should continue with intensive physical therapy, medications for neuropathic symptoms like gabapentin, pregabalin etc, tens as a modality of control of radiating pain. Dear Lybrate user, -From your symptoms you are suffering from hyperacidity -follow some dietary changes & exercise programme for relief -completely avoid fried, spicy & junk food, restrict tea, coffee to 1-2 cups/day, drink it after having biscuits or some snack, have cold milk 2-3 times a day, also avoid alcohol, chew your food well, do not skip any meal, have meals on time, do not lye down immediately after meals, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime -do aerobic exercises like walking for 30 min, also do yoga for good digestion -have 8-10 glasses of water per day -carry on with medication, if not much relief the get upper GI endoscopy done for proper diagnosis, consult a gastroenterologist.

1. Go for fasting once a week. You can go for absolute fasting or rely on a liquid diet to digest ama (toxin). Fasting should be followed by hot fomentation or by taking a bath with lukewarm water or steam bath. 2. After fasting and fomentation, mix powdered long pepper, black pepper and dried ginger in equal quantities and take 1 teaspoon of this powdered mix with lukewarm water twice a day. This will help you restore your digestive fire. 3. Take one tablespoon of castor oil before going to bed, once or twice a week. It helps in cleansing ama (toxin) build up and balancing vata. 4. Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. 5. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of different joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling.

What is voluntary nystagmus? Is this nystagmus result of eye strain? I mean to say how common is voluntary nystagmus? I experience set of uncontrollable eye moments for couple Of Seconds because I have to much eye strain. Also I cannot stare my eyes on something for more than 5-6 seconds. When I cover my one eye my other eye become More strained I after that l cannot. Put my one opened eye focused on something? Is this nystagmus? Or result of strain?

What is voluntary nystagmus? Is this nystagmus result of eye strain? I mean to say how common is voluntary nystagmus?...
Nystagmust is unvoluntary or voluntary movement of eyes. It sometimes may happen due to excessive accommodation or eye strain. Though your case seem to be of weak extra ocular muscles. Get your eye sight tested along with complete orthoptic check up.

First of all you need to reduce your weight. Visit your nearest physiotherapist and take treatment - ift, us, swd for next 10 days regularly followed by back strengthening exercises. Don't bent forward, don't lift heavy weight, do hot fomentation, sit straight with proper support, sleep on hard bed.

Pregnancy back pain typically happens where the pelvis meets your spine, at the sacroiliac joint. There are few things you can do to treat low back pain or make it rarer and milder: 1-exercise. Regular exercise strengthens muscles and boosts flexibility. That can ease the stress on your spine. Safe exercises for most pregnant women include walking, swimming, and stationary cycling. Your doctor or physical therapist can recommend exercises to strengthen your back and abdomen. 2-heat and cold. Applying heat and cold to your back may help. If your doctor agrees, start by putting cold compresses (such as a bag of ice or frozen vegetables wrapped in a towel) on the painful area for up to 20 minutes several times a day. After two or three days, switch to heat -- put a heating pad or hot water bottle on the painful area. Be careful not to apply heat to your abdomen during pregnancy. 3-improve your posture. Slouching strains your spine. So using proper posture when working, sitting, or sleeping is a good move. For example, sleeping on your side with a pillow between the knees will take stress off your back. When sitting at a desk, place a rolled-up towel behind your back for support; rest your feet on a stack of books or stool and sit up straight, with your shoulders back. Wearing a support belt may also help. Few more tips: if you need to pick something up from the ground, use your legs to squat rather than bend over. Don't wear high-heeled shoes. Don't sleep on your back. Wear support hose. If your back pain persists, you may want to consult your doctor to see what else you might try. Be sure to consult your doctor before taking pain medications. Best wishes.

. Sit to Stand •Excellent hip exercises to maintain your leg and hip strength. •One of the most important exercises used daily to keep your independence and confidence. 8. Heel Stand Strengthens the front part of the lower leg with ank Strengthening exercise has many health related benefits which reduce disease and improve your functional quality of life including: •Improving your lean muscle mass. •Reducing your blood pressure which reduces your risk of stroke and coronary heart disease. •Improving your bone health to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. •Improve your glucose tolerance and insulin resistance. •Increase the strength of your low back reducing lower back pain. •Providing beneficial effects on lowering your total cholesterol. Below you will find 12 great lower body strengthening exercises to try. Have a chair handy for some of the standing exercises to help with balance. Pick two or three to perform when you exercise during the week. Strengthening exercises for seniors should be done at least twice a w 1. Ankle Circles 1. Ankle Circles •This exercise improves your ankle flexibility and ability to move your ankle upward and downward. •This is a great warm up exercise for the lower leg and feet. 2. Hip Marching 2. Hip Marching •This exercise will strengthen your hip flexor and thighs. •With correct seated posture it will also help your abdominal muscles. 3. Lunges •To strengthen your quadriceps and hips with leg toning exercises. •Improve your ability to get out of a chair and balance. •Help you with lifting chores around the house. 10. Straight Leg Raise •To increase your quadriceps and hip flexor strength with this leg workout. •To strengthen your abdominal muscles. •Allow you to advance your leg during walking with greater ease. 11. Partial Squats •Increase your hip flexibility, quadriceps strength and hip flexor strength. •Improve your ability to get up from a chair and walk. •Steady your body for better balance and safety. 12.
