I have tension headache and I am using lamitor od 100 and rexipra 20 but still it is not curing. How long it will take?
Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Additionally, I shall recommend the following natural measures to alleviate your headache issue. To manage and alleviate pain, you can try light tapotement, with your fingers, on the head, including back side of your head, for 5 to 10 minutes. For this, you may either take help of a trained masseur or someone else can also help you with the same. Pressing the tips of both your thumbs together, tightly, for a couple of minutes and then releasing the same may also help release stress headaches, if any, and feel better. It is imperative that you relax and do not exert yourself either by doing some strenuous mental or physical work while you get these headaches. From a dietary and lifestyle standpoint, I would advise that you take care of the following in general which usually help prevent and lessen such issues - (a) take a healthy diet, majorly leafy greens and fresh fruits and have at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. Ensure that you take your food timely. Avoid any kind of greasy, oily, high calorie foods including fast foods. Avoid taking too much of sweets, pastries, dairy products etc. Take green tea twice daily, without milk. (b) do exercise daily for at least 30 minutes. Walking is the simplest and the safest exercise. (c) keep your lifestyle streamlined, with due focus on destressing and relaxation on a daily basis. You can practise yoga, especially'savasana' for 15 to 20 minutes, daily. Along with, you should also practise breathing exercises ('pranayama') daily. This shall also help develop focus. (d) ensure that you promptly respond to the nature calls and empty your bowels regularly. Constipation, at times, may also trigger heavy headache. (e) ensure a good sleep on a daily basis. You should practise going to bed on time and have at least 7 to 8 hours of restful sleep on a daily basis. Remember that lacking sleep regularly can be risky as it may lead to serious degenerative and chronic diseases. (f) avoid exposure to cold wind, foods and drinks. (g) over and above my recommendations as mentioned above, make sure that you take regular breaks, relax yourself for some time and then get back to your work. Remember that de-stressing yourself at periodically is essential to your staying engaged with your work, and enjoying the same/ learning throughout. At the same time, it is also important that you set realistic goals that are specific, achievable, measurable and time bound. This shall help reduce/ off load your work stress significantly. (h) additionally, ensure that you take care of your posture and the needful ergonomics to make working/ learning/ studying a joyful experience. Hope this helps. Do take care and all the very best.

The key is to eat in moderation at regular intervals, and not to starve yourself. Start your day with a good and healthy breakfast like a cereal and milk combination for e. G oats/ dalia porridge with low fat milk or curd. Between your lunch and breakfast you can have a light mid-morning snack, i. E, a fruit perhaps, and follow this by a balanced meal in moderate quantity for lunch. Have plenty of vegetables which will keep you full and cut down on the amount of rice/ chapatis that you are having. Also cut down on your fat intake and reduce oil in cooking. Avoid fast food, junk food, sugary food and soft drinks. Along with this, do not forget to exercise regularly. For a detailed diet plan, click on private consultation.

I am 31 year old. I am suffering from piles but I don't want to go for operation. Please suggest me.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

I am 31 year old. I am suffering from piles but I don't want to go for operation. Please suggest me.
Piles occur when the veins surrounding the anus are inflamed. Bleeding and swelling occurring in the anal area, itching, discomfort, may indicate piles/ haemorrhoids. Precautions- Have regular food habits as well as habit of going for motion. Don’t avoid when you have an urge for going to toilet. Take 2 to 3 glasses of warm water in the morning. This will help in reducing acidity as well as hardness of stool and you don’t have to strain your pelvic muscles. Keep hydrated by drinking lots of water and having fruits and vegetable juices Avoid sitting for long time at one place. Sedentary habit causes constipation. Driving bike or cycle for long duration at a time may be avoided. Travelling in a car or bus for long journey is also not good. Train is better as you can change positions. Avoid chillies, masalas and such hot foods. Take easily digestible foods including curds and fruits. We have very good treatment in homoeopathy. To start with, take Nux vom 200 twice daily morning and evening and give feedback after 5 days.

Nephrotic Syndrome: Causes and Treatment

MBBS, MD - Medicine, DM - Nephrology
Nephrologist, Delhi
Nephrotic Syndrome: Causes and Treatment

Glomerulonephritis is a disease that is caused due to inflammation of the small filters that are present within the kidneys or glomeruli. Glomeruli eliminate the excess waste, electrolytes and fluids from the blood, discharged through urine. A glomerular disease can be either acute or chronic. If the condition arises without a combination of any other disease, it is termed as primary glomerulonephritis. Secondary glomerulonephritis is characterized by diabetes or lupus (an auto-immune disorder) being at the root of the disease. Prolonged or severe inflammation can take a toll on the kidneys.

Causes-

Nephrotic syndrome can be primary, being a disease specific to the kidneys, or it can be secondary, being a renal manifestation of a systemic general illness. In all cases, injury to glomeruli is an essential feature. Kidney diseases that affect tubules and interstitium, such as interstitial nephritis, will not cause nephrotic syndrome.

Primary causes of nephrotic syndrome include the following, in approximate order of frequency:

  1. Minimal-change nephropathy

  2. Focal glomerulosclerosis

  3. Membranous nephropathy

  4. Hereditary nephropathies

Secondary causes include the following, again in order of approximate frequency:

  1. Diabetes mellitus

  2. Lupus erythematosus

  3. Viral infections (e.g., hepatitis B, hepatitis C, human immunodeficiency virus [HIV] )

  4. Amyloidosis and paraproteinemias

  5. Preeclampsia

  6. Allo-antibodies from enzyme replacement therapy

Nephrotic-range proteinuria may occur in other kidney diseases, such as IgA nephropathy. In that common glomerular disease, one-third of patients may have nephrotic-range proteinuria.

Nephrotic syndrome may occur in persons with sickle cell disease and evolve to renal failure. From a therapeutic perspective, nephrotic syndrome may be classified as steroid sensitive, steroid resistant, steroid dependent, or frequently relapsing.

Treatment-

  1. Whether one is suffering from acute or chronic nephrotic glomerular , with symptoms moderate or severe, the treatment lies in treating high blood pressure and other underlying conditions of the disease.

  2. Water pills help control sweating, thus increasing the fluid flushed from the kidneys.

  3. Statins reduce cholesterol level.

  4. Blood thinners such as anticoagulants lower the risk of blood clots.

  5. Corticosteroids regulate the immune system and ease the inflammation that results from kidney disorders.

  6. Incorporating certain lifestyle changes such as opting for lean proteins, cutting on the intake of fat in the diet and consuming lesser amounts of salt can treat inflammation and swelling.

  7. For kidney failure, dialysis can come to the aid in eliminating excess fluids and regulating hypertension.
