lybrate-user, First and foremost don't only think of HIV. Also think of other STDs, especially hep B, HEP c, Syphilis etc. That girl may have some or other STD. She may be in window period. So you can be still at risk at HIV.

prescription-strength NSAIDs, including ibuprofen, may be associated with small but statistically significant increases in BP that are greatest when coadministered with ARBs and ACEIs and lowest with calcium channel blockers and loop diuretics. The clinical relevance of these findings remains unclear, although one analysis that modeled the effects of hypertension in patients taking COX-2 inhibitors predicted that NSAID-driven hypertension may contribute to CV events and deaths.67 Given the clear dose- and duration-response relationship between ibuprofen use and ADRs in general43 and the very small increase in BP observed with prescription-strength NSAIDs, any DDI occurring with short-term OTC ibuprofen and antihypertensives would most likely have only a minor effect on BP. However, of most concern is potential inhibition of antihypertensive efficacy with chronic use of higher doses. Thus, hypertensive patients who require ARBs, ACEIs, or thiazide diuretics such as HCTZ should avoid chronic prescription NSAID use.

Total treatment for tb is usually 6 to 9 months. Diabetics may require longer treatment. Joint pains might be due to other causes as well as drugs. Uric acid, liver enzymes may be elevated. Good control of diabetes is very important for quick recovery. The patient requires clinical exam.

It could be piles and that's the reason you had blood in the toilet. This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear mcr chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back. Take food which reduces the heat.

Am suffering from migraine. From past one year. I couldn't bare it. I took medication from doctor. But I couldn't bare it when m exposed it sun, journeys and stress.

MBBS, MD - Anaesthesiology, FIPM, Fellowship in palliative medicine, certificate in interventional pain management

You have not mentioned which medicines you have taken. You should take preventive medicines to stop your migraine attacks on exposure to trigger , in your case sun, travel etc. In many patients one medicine may not work well , in such cases different medicines have to be used. Follow these lifestyle changes to avoid migraine headache 1. Maintain regular sleep wake cycle, even on holiday's. 2. Don't skip meals. Take regular healthy diet with adequate fluids 3. Do not consume excess caffeine / carbohydrates / alcohol or smoke. 4. Exercise daily ( aerobics and cardiovascular) 5. Identify your headache trigger and try to avoid it.In your case use an umbrella when in sunlight, use sunglasses and hats etc. 6. Do pranayam daily. 7. Acupuncture treatment has shown some benefits in migraine. You can consult a pain specialist for therapies like dry needling or botulinum injections for your problem. Consult again for further queries.

Causes, Symptoms and Treatment of Tonsillitis

MBBS, MS - ENT, DNB
ENT Specialist, Gurgaon
Causes, Symptoms and Treatment of Tonsillitis

Tonsils are the two oval-shaped tissue pads at the back of your throat, which function as a mechanism to protect you from diseases. Any infection of the tonsils is referred to as ‘tonsillitis’.

You can suffer from tonsillitis at any age, but it is more commonly diagnosed in children. Tonsillitis is highly contagious.

There are two types of tonsillitis:

  1. Chronic tonsillitis— Longer episodes of acute tonsillitis
  2. Recurrent tonsillitis— Recurrent episodes of tonsillitis in a year

Causes

Tonsillitis can cause viral and bacterial infections. The ‘Streptococcus (strep) bacteria’ is a common cause. Some other causes include:

  1. Adenoviruses
  2. Influenza virus
  3. Epstein-Barr virus
  4. Parainfluenza virus
  5. Enteroviruses
  6. Herpes simplex virus

Symptoms

Since tonsillitis has various causes, symptoms too tend to differ. Some symptoms include:

  1. An extremely sore throat
  2. Painful or difficult swallowing
  3. Scratchy-sounding voice
  4. Bad breath
  5. Fever
  6. Chills
  7. Earaches
  8. Stomach aches
  9. Headaches
  10. Stiff neck
  11. Neck and jaw tenderness due to inflamed lymph nodes
  12. Tonsils that become swollen and red in colour
  13. Yellow or white spots on the tonsils

In children, symptoms such as excessive drooling, increased irritability or poor appetite are usually noticeable.

Treatment

If the tonsillitis is mild, especially caused by a virus, it usually doesn’t require any treatment. More critical cases of tonsillitis might require treatments such as tonsillectomy (a surgical process used to remove the tonsils) or administration of antibiotics.

Penicillin is the most commonly administered antibiotic. Once commonly performed, tonsillectomy (surgical removal of tonsils) is now reserved for extremely critical cases. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult an ent-specialist.

You should take Ipill if you periods are delayed. If they are usually late by 10-15 days, there is risk of pregnancy and ipill is the only protection. But you should have taken it within 16-24 hr. It's a bit late now but give it a try.

Hi. I understand your concerns. You may be having viral infection. Try steam inhalation and betadine gargle. If persists for more than a week then you will need to undergo a chest x ray. Hope your questions were answered. Thanks.
