My dog has injured his hands. And he is continuously licking it and it is making it worse. Blood is coming out of it.

MVSc
Veterinarian,
You can apply neem oil on its wound, so that your dog will stop licking the wound due to its smell and taste, and need oil is also heals wound and acts as antibacterial and antifungal medicine.

My puppy (Golden Retriever) is 38 days old. It shakes its head very often. My parents are planning to give it back. So please tell me, is it really something so serious. Please give me reply Asap. Please .

MVSc (Ph.D pursuing)
Veterinarian, Hyderabad
Head shaking as if shivering or fits? it could be a simple low sugar problem to severe brain problem. Please check a simple blood sugar check like we do for humans and see if the blood glucose level is below 60.

Sir, My turtle is not eating food. Nd not walking properly. Please help me and give me suggestion and treatment. As soon as. M worried for my turtle.

MVSc (Ph.D pursuing)
Veterinarian, Hyderabad
Please make sure whether your turtle is having any infection? As it may be going in hibernation. Which is not good as it is not the correct time. It may die due to both untimely hibernation or due to untreated infection. Problem is the treatment for both is different. So it won't be possible to confirm that on phone.

I have a female labra 2 years old of normal dimensions. She got crossed with a street dog and I do not want her to bear any puppies suggest me the most appropriate pill.

MVSc (Ph.D pursuing)
Veterinarian, Hyderabad
Your labra can only get pregnant if the street dogz penis was stuck inside the vagina for atleast 15min. This is called knotting. Otherwise chances of conceiving is nill and can lead to unecessary complications by hormonal contraceptive pills. In case you havnt seen how long was the knotting, ill suggest you wait till 38days, n see if the size of the milk teats by tht time. If yes, then we can start treatment. Please note tht thr is no harm waiting till then. Infact much safer.

I have a pet dog who is 2 years 6 months old. 1 year back he got hit by stick in his balls. It cnt walk properly now he keep his back leg folded, we do takes nerobian tablets very freguently but now a day even after taking tablets he do not get well. So please help me out with some medicine and advise.

MVSc, BVSc
Veterinarian,
Kindly get him assessed by a vet nearby. Explore possibility of any fresh trauma/injury which is causing folded back leg. You may need radiographs to confirm any arthritis or bone lesions. Take care.

MVSc, BVSc
Veterinarian,
Pets become overweight for very simple reason. they eat more calories than what they can spend. Owners are responsible to ensure and regulate proper calorie intake and expenditure.
Factors contributing to obesity are-
Food type: Feeding carb rich and excessive fatty food has cumulative effect leading to obesity.
Neutering - calorie requirements reduce post neutering as the metabolic rate lowers. controlled intake and regular activity helps to keep obesity at bay.
Diseases - Hypothyroidism, Cushing's Disease (excess intrinsic steroids), diabetes etc

Adverse effects of obesity:
Early onset of osteoarthritis/joint disease
Breathing difficulty in short snouted breeds like pugs
Heart disease/high blood pressure
Pancreatitis/hepatitis in cats

Obesity in Pets is completely preventable disease. Cost of managing a obese pet can be financially as well as emotionally taxing. Its always better to prevent than cure!!!!
