Dear Lybrate user, your father might be suffering with osteoporosis which is common after 50+yrs. please understand causes of back pain very first, and avoid if any reasons you find out. Lower back pain can be caused by a variety of problems with any parts of the complex, interconnected network of spinal muscles, nerves, bones, discs or tendons in the lumbar spine. Typical sources of low back pain include: The large nerve roots in the low back that go to the legs may be irritated The smaller nerves that supply the low back may be irritated The large paired lower back muscles (erector spinae) may be strained The bones, ligaments or joints may be damaged An intervertebral disc may be degenerating While back pain is extremely common, the symptoms and severity of back pain vary greatly. A simple lower back muscle strain might be excruciating enough to necessitate an emergency room visit, while a degenerating disc might cause only mild, intermittent discomfort. Identifying the symptoms and getting a diagnosis that pinpoints the underlying cause of the pain is the first step in obtaining effective pain relief. Treatment for lower back pain depends upon the patient's history and the type and severity of pain. The vast majority of lower back pain cases get better within four to six weeks, and lower back pain exercises are almost always part of a treatment plan. Back pain and knee pain will get relieved, please take these medications as primary treatment plan, & have a thorough consultation with us as early as possible. Neck advice hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Back advice. Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretching. Do the cat/cow stretch.

Use good quality open patellar tommy when you walk do swim daily do gym - press your both feet - weight bearing resistance exercise take ift on both knee joints for 20 days @ 15 min daily ok use good ls spine brace when you cycling.

Hamstring stretching Towel Hamstring Stretch Lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it.. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated Hamstring Stretch While sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds Repeat 3 times for each leg.

Hi I can understand your problem. # relax & stay positive. # take hot and cold foementation. # change sleeping position. # change pillow. # take break every 20 minutes. # do strengthening exercise of back muscles not all back pains are same, you need specific treatment plan according to your symptoms. Does your job involve sitting for longer hours? If there's no history of injury or heavy weight lifting then it's purely ergonomics and lack of core strength and leg flexibility no medicines will take away the root cause only right exercises and ergonomic correction will help consult me online for detailed information with images.

I had knee twist on 31st december.I had pain initially however after a week i didnt have pain.However even now I have a instable knee.I took a xray it dint show up anything.But I still cant run.The knee slips everytime i try to jump or run and I have temporary pain.Can someone help me please.I dont want to opt for surgery

Well, as you have described your problem beautifully, diagnosis has become easy. You have unstable knee because of Torn ligament. Most probably it's ACL tear. It's more than 2 months now. You are afraid of surgery, but my friend, there are worse side effects of the injury on knee if left untreated. Unstable knee gets degenerative changes very fast. You will have cartilage damage and meniscus tear as time goes. Then recovery of your knee will be jeopardised. Please visit a proper Knee specialist who performs Arthroscopic surgeries. He will take care of your knees. Get an MRI done. It should be good quality 3 Tesla MRI. Please ask for CD of that MRI. I hope you understand the gravity of the situation. Dr Prashant Parate. Knee advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

With rest do heat fermentation twice a day tk muscle relaxant medicine and avoid strain. If it work then ok otherwise tk swd or ultrasonic therapy.

Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am suffering from an ACL tear from past 6 months. For the first 2-3 months I was unserious about the tear but after that I consulted a doctor and he told me to consult physiotherapist and everyone agreed that it could repaired without surgery but after 2 months of physiotherapy their was only improvement of 1-2 % in ligament and knee started paining and before that in 3 months it never pained after that I consulted some other and stopped the physiotherapy now I am taking medicine of some other ortho doc from last 1 month and doing some strengthening exercises which he told bt I was experiencing pain in the need what should be done to get back on track as I am athlete .

Quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

It's always good to have a cray for a good diagnosis, but you can focus on isometric exercises of your back and strengthning of core muscles for pain you can use hot pack to reduce pain and if pain is too much you can use lumber belt

Dear, first of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.
